  1. I enjoy our results against Edinburgh more than I enjoy the sport. Every other fixture I just enjoy the racing around Glasgow.

  2. Completely logical (although it really ought to go up gradually to 42) as it reflects the fact that riders averages will go up because of the low starting limit.

  3. The fact Redcar ride on a Friday was a factor , due to his Polish commitments on a Sunday.

  8. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-68169290 Article on BBC about the latest A nice picture of the kart track with a negative headline won't do any harm Usual nothing response from the LVPA and EHDC though, but at least they know the BBC are interested so pressure being put on

  11. Didn't Steve Lawson say he'd agreed a deal with worky then retired hence why still no 7th rider there?

  12. May be its an age thing... but my preference is value for money! Give me close racing over meaningless silverware any day of the week!

  13. Agree on logic, but remember Ht 15 scores will skew a team's averages a little. 42 isn't a true team total. The gradual month-on-month upping of team averages will help teams who feel a need to make changes, but having a low starting-point each season will keep team-building costs down. Which is a good thing.

  14. The Championship points limit will increase by 0.5 each month from May 1, taking the limit up to 40 – ie. May 1, 38.50; June 1, 39.00; July 1, 39.50; August 1, 40.00.

  17. For those that might be interested there is an interview with Adam Ellis in the star this week a short summary is (edit actually its now last weeks WE 27th jan) 1/ He wasnt surprised to be ditched by Sheffield last season he felt things were going well on the continent but not in the UK for whatever reason. He even contemplated quitting the UK scene and focusing on the Polish league and other stuff. 2/ He suspects his GB call up for the WC was due to him riding in Poland - 3/ He is optimistic for the season ahead and is looking foward to riding for Pila and having Hans Nielsen as his TM. he is also keen to get going back at Ipswich - he also feels riding with Doyley and Emil will benefit him.

  19. I understand he pumped a load of money into the Reading project which included a scale model of his proposed new racino. It cost in excess of £50K & that was over 15 years ago. I have no doubt that it would have been an investors money that paid for it.

  20. It is being widely reported on Social Media that ex-promoter. and all round speedway fan, Brian Griffin has passed away in his sleep. As a promoter, Brian was (in my opinion) ahead of his time and I'm confident in saying that the opening night at King's Lynn when Brian & Waggy were the promoters was probably the most lavish & spectacular presentation you will ever see of any speedway meeting. Brian used his connections within the film & TV business to put on a show that was considered by many to be outrageous, but spectacular it was. I was travelling from the South that night having been working in London and the 'Movie Premiere Searchlights' could be seen for miles away. Nobody within a 10 mile radius of Saddlebow Road that night would not have known it was the beginning of a new era for King's Lynn speedway, albeit as the Knights, rather than the stars. It has to be said that several riders, notably Simon Wigg & Chris Louis benefitted from Brian's friendship. Not everybodies cup of tea, but I for one think that speedway could do with more Brian Griffin's (and indeed Grahan Drury - its been a bad week for Speedway promotion). RIP Brian, thank you for the memories

  23. A great servant to British Speedway, you always knew he was going to be at a meeting, no mysterious illnesses, van breakdowns, always gave 100% and showed enjoyment when he won races with his straight arm fist pump. Always supported British Speedway when others were jumping ship. Probably should have been World Champion when he was riding at his absolute peak (when he was Hans N Andersen ) if he could have combined his form from 2007 & 2008... who knows? I can't ever remember seeing a better exponent of the block pass, hard riding up the inside of a rider and just parking it in front of him, I'd never really seen that before. I hope he gets granted a farewell meeting, he fully deserves it!

  24. A very happy and well deserved retirement, had his knockers but overall I think a very good rider in his day and a decent bloke. A great servant to British Speedway.

  25. A shame.. Entry level Speedway, which the NDL is, should have lots of opportunities for riders to give the sport a go without the need for many thousands of outlay... Especially given the sport over here require lots of UK lads to take up team spaces.. I always find it truly baffling that promoters expect riders to come with the best (meaning expensive), kit they can, meaning the promoters then need to pay the riders the money to not only afford that kit, but also have enough to live on, and tbey do this to try and win competitions that the very same promoters then completely devalue by their own incredible operating model.. It is a strange business plan isn't it?
