  2. Also what no one is mentioning is that if your whole family are Speedway fans, you are only paying the £15 once for all of you. People are forever moaning about what it costs to take a family, so this is surely a huge saving?

  3. As a native of the Aces now living in north London £14.99 for live coverage of the meeting, produced very well and excellent stream I thought it very good value. Hopefully the club get a cut of the sales income so it’s a win for the club and a definite win for me. Great racing , great meeting.

  4. No idea we’re he is at but he was impervious whilst with Glasgow, then the wheels came off in the last 6 months until we had to acknowledge that his time with us had come to an end. Latterly last season he was a shadow of his former self ,and it was really damning that Edinburgh had to call it a day with him as he was adored in those parts. I hope to be proved wrong but rediscovering former glory with Craig is a long shot at best.

  5. For me, living in North London it would have meant a 180 mile drive (each way), hotel stay, entrance ticket, meal, drinks etc. so £14.99 was very good value plus the ability to watch the team I had lost touch with. I will attend the British Final; SON and hopefully a couple of bank holiday meetings (day trip) because you cannot replicate actually being their.

  6. I went to watch it live. And I paid for the stream to watch it back. for me it’s value for money. For others they think I’m crazy. What’s value for money for one person is different to the next. all opinions of course. bloody love you Brady. Brilliant job. So happy for you

  7. Well I paid the £15 to watch it from comfort of my own home and I am happy I did. The meeting was presented well by BV and as expected and the riders rose to the challenge and provided top notch racing. Quality of the stream was very good, the camera angles very adequate, the commentary was ok. Negatives of the meeting in relationship to the streaming was the seemingly lack of knowledge of how great Ove Fundin was and the battles he and Peter Craven had…..but then I am an Ove Fundin fan. My other moan, not the fault of the stream company, BSN, was the length of time grading the track after every four races. Thankfully BSN covered the time with an interview, but there again, if I had been at BV and not streaming then that excessive tractor grading would certainly have been very boring. I wasn’t there….maybe the time spent was necessary. So, I spent £15, I sat in the comfort of my own home, no petrol money spent, no hassle travelling 30 mile each way in rush hour traffic (it was 7 o’clock start), I could easily have spent £8-£10 on a fish and chip supper on the way home, and risked a call off meeting due to weather (but it was BV and the track is more weather friendly because it was built right). £15 well spent in my opinion.

  8. Not exactly robbery as you have a choice whether to pay/watch it.

  9. Fortunately there aren't many like you out there. What an embarrassment.

  10. she did look ok but the track was very slick very smooth the times were slower than when Dan Bewley had the track record for the colts in 2017. she rode middle of track most of the time. listen there will never be a woman speedway world champion in a million years, not even a transgender man/ woman, not unless zmarzlic comes clean,

  11. Take it from me there is no issues with Craig Cook he is in the zone no problems he will be there on the 23rd press day

  12. Interesting choice of rider line up by Lyon, good to see him mixing it up and I imagine Dickson will do the same through out the season.. Going for a home win by 10. Think Wojdylo will be the key for Lynn at reserve. He should get the better of Kemp and Thompson at this level although it make take him a race to get going. Having lawson and becker at 2 n 4 is the real difference maker. Probably the strongest in the league in those positions.

  13. Value for money can only be calculated when compared with the next best alternative. You mention the prices of Discovery & Eurosport, but they weren't showing the meeting. The only alternatives to choose from were to go to the actual meeting, watch via BSN or give it a miss. No doubt live speedway is (on most occasions) the best alternative for the actual experience, however, the lowest out of pocket cost for two adults to attend would have been around £50.00 whereas via BSN it was £15.00. So for "value for money" comparison. The choices for 2 adults were, a) attend the live meeting for £50.00, b)stream the event for £15.00 or indeed C)£0.00 to do neither.

  14. I thought Celina's interview on BSN was great, she explained the early problems they had with getting the power down and how they had made changes. She was definitely more competitive in her last two races and was on the pace . Her English was great, she comes across as really personable and you can tell she is living the dream. Can't help but wish her all the best with the Comets in the Championship. I thought the stream was good quality, the interviews filled the grading breaks nicely and it was novel watching 5 rider semi and 6 rider final plus it was on for over 3 hours and there was some really good racing.

  15. What I saw of her last season, she will certainly give most of the reserves in the League a run for their money.Wish her well.

  16. You don’t have to buy it though, just watch Emmerdale.

  17. Encouraging from Celina great experience being on track and in the pits with some of the worlds best. countdown is on now can’t wait for our first meeting away at Scunny!

  18. Well our lady rider was not far of the pace in the Peter craven meeting, did not score a point but looked OK against the very big boys, her last ride was good, well done Celina, she will score points in the championship no bother

  19. Hope Plymouth can pull the rabbit out the hat with a strong replacement, it’s the least the fans deserve. Best travelling fans I saw at Glasgow by a distance.

  21. He's also the son of Charlotte Hagon, Bob Dugard's daughter who is the sister of Martin and Paul Dugard. Comes from good speedway stock.

  22. Copied and pasted from the BSPL Riders Index info page: Son of Martin Peter Hagon (born: 25 December 1961, Hackney, London, England); Grandson of Alfred Joseph Hagon.

  23. Is Sam Hagon any relation to Alf Hagon or his descendants.?? Good to see the young ones shaping so well. Impressed With Cook and the two Connors. Initially looked like Blodorn had took a leap forward. Re Celina, she is having a go at a sport she loves, just like many other youngsters. Nothing wrong with that. How far will she develop……who knows. What I havnt seen in any video clip etc is she mixing it on the first corner (in a tough way). She has got speed and very steady. I give her 10/10 for the courage to have a go.

  27. My initial thought was damaged limitation, keeping the score close for an aggregate win. But with Lawson in heat 8, Iversen isn't guaranteed a win there anyway. I would have put MPT at 2.

  28. Yeah you’ll have to pay for it on BSN unfortunately, I’ve bought the season pass so I’m all set

  29. Now we have debated the cost of streaming would anyone like to comment on what they thought about the Peter Craven memorial speedway meeting. Very enjoyable meeting .Well done Brady great performance a well deserved win, great race in the final between Brady and Dan . Thought the new boys to the Belle vue team Ben and Connor showed great promise for the season ahead. Got me back in the mood for speedway and now well locking forward to the new season ahead .The performances of all the Belle vue team gives me hope that the new team can make up for the forced weakening of last seasons team down to averages.

  30. When you compare it to the £4 or £5 per meeting that the season passes represent, £10-£15 does seem a bit of a rip-off for one offs, of course we don't know what Belle Vue charged for the "rights" to stream this meeting and market forces will ultimately dictate the prices of streamed meetings. Like I said earlier my trip cost me £55, take off the £15 that this would have cost me to stream and it brings it down to £40, was it worth it? Head says no, heart says YES! Sometimes life is just more than a financial transaction.

  31. or just pay £70 for the year and stream whatever you want

  32. I did consider leaving her at home but i didn't dare suggest it I really like the Belle Vue track & stadium & the trip up there through the peaks is a lovely drive in daylight hours, but i find the return at night very demanding on what are mostly twisty unlit roads. The alternative is a longer journey via the m6 & A50/A500 across to the east mids, a journey with the inevitable delays for road works /closures causing a much longer journey time. Last night I watched the speedway, then watched the first episode of Coma on Channel 5 which had been recording & was " tucked up" in bed by 11.00 pm

  33. As a cost cutting measure have you thought about leaving the wife at home? I've just totted up my costs for this meeting at £56.76... I wish I hadn't! So yes add another £25 and I can see where you're coming from. Arguably the line-up for this meeting is as good as you're going to see in this country this year, the 6 rider final is truly spectacular to watch and as comfortable as watching it from the home can be, you can't beat live Speedway! Horses for courses though, I was able to travel up there at the time I wanted and on my own.

  34. While I agree with the points in testimonials and friendlies not meaning a lot for a rider who had a lot of trouble last year to be mixing it in the final with fast Freddie was great to see and I hope he gets sorted a team

  36. I think the new names to the UK may well surprise everyone Celina, Tate and Antti are dark horses and will be keen to make their names. I wouldn't mind betting the Premiership sides will be watching to pick up their next reserves.

  37. Very enjoyable meeting with some good racing and lots to talk about on the way home. What more could you ask for at this stage of the season? Seeing Kurtz and Bewley battle it out in the final with Fricke just behind is what speedway should be all about. The track staff should be congratulated on an excellent track for the time of year. Thought Celine did very well to be honest and she improved every race.

  40. I don't think its to bad some gp riders, decent track and watching at home for 15 quid.

  41. You might want to have a closer look at the GP fields if you think this is a GP standard field.
    1 point
  42. Having an opinion that something is too expensive isn't necessarily moaning though is it? Not sure I'd call it a GP standard field either. Anyway I hope its a good meeting for those who go or buy the stream.

  43. I think much will depend on Covatti and his return from injury, the management are clearly keen to stick by him when he is fit so if he could get fit by the start of May it’s a case of seeing if someone could agree a one month deal. I think the shout of moving things to a Tuesday through April would make sense if it meant a rider like Riss would sign on for that month. From the clubs perspective, giving away meetings by having a poor guest at number 1 wouldn’t be good for business. On that note would we get a guest facility? 8 possible meetings until the end of April would surely be attractive to someone!!

  44. Comets will have a final rider of that there is no doubt. Don't know what is happening regarding Craig but if he is having issues and is not 100% committed then for the sake of the promotion and fans I hope he does the right thing.

  45. Quite true, this young man has been riding on the beach with Dan the Man and Brady Kurtz as well as putting in laps at Northside both on the track and round the small training track on a dirt bike. Tate and his mam have also been mucking in with ongoing work at Northside. Thoroughly impressed by their work ethic, quite refreshing.

  47. Unibet offer Polish top flight, Swedish, GP and World Cup also. Bet365 offer all of the above, plus the UK Premiership and Polish Liga1 and the televised Liga2 match usually plus individuals.

  48. That's correct, all of the home meetings are streamed from Poole either by Pirates TV or BSN. All of the Pirates TV streams are now available to watch on the clubs YouTube channel, and the BSN stream will be available to watch on their platform if you had purchased the match or had the season pass etc. Thanks for your support of the streams guys.

  49. My personal opinion is that it was as much rider error as track conditions. Had there been multiple falls then I would say track conditions were a major factor but the track had been hard packed & dispite it looking very wet from the outside it was only surface water. By not putting equipment on it kept the track in fair condition with only the bikes turning the dirt. race times were consistent for the whole 15 races so little or no deteriation to the racing surface occured. Both sides should be congratulated on a great nights racing & the track staff must have worked overtime after the practice day to produce the track we were served.

  50. So we had two planned meetings on Thursday. One went ahead on a damp track and the other was called off. Some supporters have said that the meeting that went ahead should have been called off and at the same time others have criticised the promotion who called their meeting off for not trying to run. Seems to me that whatever the two promotions had done they would be told they had done the wrong thing! I constantly read that promoters don't have a clue but when there are only two possible actions in a situation both courses of action are criticised. Maybe this shows just how difficult it is to run a speedway track and maybe we should accept that while we all think we understand how things should be run, we are not the ones who can lose a fortune running the sport.
