  1. Was just thinking this morning that it was the type of meeting that gets you hooked on Speedway... was a lovely night weather wise, healthy crowd, close score throughout, great racing and a narrow home victory in the last race. For Oxford, Tungate put in a true number 1's performance, Schroek is less than convincing as a team manager, making some bizarre decisions. The big question of the night was... is Magic back? He was still very slow out of the start but showed some remarkable commitment to be Oxford's match winner with a couple of world class rides in his last 2. Leicester, business as usual I'm afraid, Fricke and Masters blowing hot and cold, Dickson making a ruthless decision to replace Becker in only his 2nd ride. All in all, although we got pipped at the line, I drove home happy after an evening of top quality entertainment!

  3. I'm sure that's not in accordance with the rules. Which is probably why a Poole fan suggested it

  6. This is what is wrong with some of the rules in speedway, we can't use Scott Nicholls again because of the 8 day rule but we can use Sam Masters who rode for the opposition last week in the same meeting as Scott. I suppose the only benefit of this rule is we can't use Batch this week!

  7. BSPA / SCB can't do that, all they can do is give Covatti a 28 day ban for withholding his services, which allows Plymouth to use a guest. Once 28 days is up, they'd only be allowed a 75% guest if Covatti doesn't return. This is not a similar situation to Kennett, he got injured in the first match & they used a guest all year (as allowed by the regulations - can't blame Plymouth for that) this is different as Covatti is riding elsewhere but not for Plymouth, so more like the Laguta situation imo

  8. I said this before, as much as Osbourne is what he is he isn’t breaking the law and all his decisions are business decisions, if speedway was a cash cow he would be working in our favour, the council will do whatever the cash dictates,, council support for a track closed or otherwise means nothing but on the other foot speedway needs the council to run, it all boils down to money unfortunately and it rarely falls in speedways favour, even in oxford’s case if it wasn’t for the greyhound guy buying the rights to the stadium would speedway even be back ? Unfortunately moral people don’t run the world

  9. I have attended 3 Glasgow home matches this season, 2 at Redcar and 2 at Edinburgh. Berwick haven't been the visitors in any of the matches I've been at. That's also more meetings than I've been to at Berwick (shifts and family play a part in where I am at certain times). Just because you aren't wearing a team coat or polo shirt doesn't mean you don't attend as a neutral.

  10. I said last night to a few people that any Leicester fans who were there or bought the livestream, must be gutted that they don't get racing like that week in and out. Us Oxford fans are so bloody lucky after years of closure to have 3 good teams where every rider at every level gives their all on a well prepared track, all in fron of decent crowds.

  11. It's the system that's wrong, not the riders who agree to ride.

  12. Wouldn’t have thought you would want a NL guest as the last time they did it they WON at edinburgh LOL

  13. That's no excuse, as soon as it was obvious Pawlicki was on form, Ermolenko should have been planning to use him early, so he wouldn't get 4 on the trot later. Another option would be using Lampart in heat 13 as r/r to give Pawlicki a rest, then use Pawlicki in heat 14. Flint wouldn't have needed a 4th ride.

  14. Yeah pretty sure Danny Bird's ban hasn't started because he didn't pay the fine

  15. Watching the “big” riders doesn’t necessarily mean entertainment in my opinion as can be seen by some of the crap we sometimes witness on Eurosport. Last Sunday’s under 21 final proved that Ashfield can produce fantastic racing without the need for big names. I’ve never been a fan of leaving the championship due to the possible pitfalls you’ve mentioned.

  16. Toft should have been replaced weeks ago,but no forward thinking again, and now it leaves us going back over the same old ground and using Lambert again.Nothing against the lad,but Lynn just do the same old thing year in year out and it's grinding the fans down.We have so many points to play but we always seem happy just to get through another year.

  17. He's not really what we need, but he'd be better than guests IMO.

  18. Only 2 Championship clubs voted against the reduced points limit - Poole and Glasgow - Fact.

  19. I think stuff said in the heat of the moment during a meeting is probably a red herring. However I suspect he's more likely to end up at Lynn or BV as he's ridden for those before, I expect he's already been sounded out by both. Highly unlikely he's coming over yet anyway with Poland, Sweden & GP's all in full swing. Ipswich need someone ASAP really, nobody can replace Doyle but guests and R/R are so unreliable.

  20. Wow a young rider in speedway has been replaced by another young rider in speedway! It's been happening for years in all teams. Moving on........

  21. My point being no one was talking about it, before meeting began.

  22. I wouldn't normally come down from London for this fixture, but its going to be my first visit to Poole this season, to watch Vinnie. I've seen him a couple of times for the Cubs and the main difference this year is that he is staying on the bike. I hope it works out for him and a generous local helps him out machinery wise. Think this will be a comfortable home win by 16-20 points.

  23. Do you honestly believe he swans in over here , rides an old nail at half speed , picks up very little in wages and then wonder's back out again. I'm not going to defend some of his riding and poor performances but I don't believe for 1 minute that he is not taking it seriously.

  24. I have to say the Oxford track has been superb ever since the club returned. Cracking racing almost every week - helped somewhat by Oxford having quite a few entertaining riders in Nicholls, Wright, Tungate, Harris, etc., they all throw the bike around. They might not always win races, but they certainly give everything. Oxford also widened the track and made significant changes from when it last used in 2007. Not that it was ever boring before, but it's superb now.

  25. I’ve said all I’m going to on this GM otherwise I’ll just end up repeating myself. I don’t see a big issue, others do which is fair enough it’s up to them. Anyway uppa Witches! A result I certainly wasn’t expecting. Still a job to be done but if we can get over the line, it gives us a great opportunity to get the team sorted and have a good crack at Sheffield in September to retain the trophy.

  31. 'Banned' 'failing' 'despite' 'evidence' - all a little over dramatic me thinks. How about: The standard 7 day sickness protocol, as per SCB regulations, will apply to Dan Thompson who has covid.

  33. I only said that to give extra emphasis to 'changes in the riding order', after Barker's comments at Plymouth about rider changes. I had been told the Foord news as had a few others on the night, but sworn to secrecy. The deal had been done but had to be ratified and the official announcement made after the U.21s just in case he got injured!!

  34. Knowing KL we will sign Thomas Jorgensen again if he is fit

  35. Why on earth would he be at Plymouth. They have strong reserves & are hardly likely to replace their missing number one with a (sub) 2.00 rider. Unless you mean in future seasons?
    1 point
  36. Plymouth should never have been given a facility in the first place as Plymouth had ample time to a sign a cover IMO. Now they get a facility for the same rider who doesn't seem to fancy Plymouth on a Tuesday night.

  37. Ipswich should use Zach Cook to guest for Dan Thompson. I'm sure he would be up for it!

  39. Seems as though the racing improved after a track grade and water was thrown down after heat 11? Begs the question why that wasn’t done sooner. After the water went down Rew immediately found grip on the outside with a cracking ride in heat 12 and likewise Emil in 15 after he failed to gain any ground in two of his earlier heats when he missed the gate.

  42. I know we say that we don’t know the reasons but when you have one reserve going well and one struggling it’s poor management for them to have 6 and 4 rides and not 7 and 3 rides irrelevant if what heats they are in the programme should have been worked out better by management After 4 heats Pawlicki had 6 points and Flint 0….. at this stage that early on a good manager would be looking ahead to maximise his top reserve

  43. Everybody sees themselves as a managerial genius sat at home in their armchairs don’t they. No I'm not contradicting myself, szkocjasid. Lampart wasn’t getting final rider replacement ride in heat 13 on 4 points when Pawlicki on 10 points hadn’t yet taken one. Realistically Pawlicki wasn’t going to replace anyone else other than Flint once he got an unexpected outing early on when Cook went through the tapes. Pawlicki had six of the available seven rides, and heat 14 was his programmed ride which would have been his seventh and final ride. That is the only issue people are having here. But you weren’t there, I weren’t there, and nobody knows the reason Pawlicki was then pulled and replaced by Flint. Nobody in their right mind would willingly choose Flint over Pawlicki so there would have been a reason for it. That doesn’t mean the plan was always to pull him from that heat meaning a trick was missed not giving him an extra ride earlier. Perhaps having three on the trot and only scoring one point from the last two of those had a bearing on that decision that they weren’t expecting to make. If Pawlicki had replaced Lampart early on then his night would have been done in heat 13 regardless, having then taken the full quota of seven rides. I just don’t think it’s the major bollock that you and a couple of others are making it out to be I really don’t. It just seems to be fashionable to scrutinise every move Ermolenko makes and then jump in with both feet when a decision seemingly doesn’t look like a good one. You can be a manager in the pits looking at the programme pre-meeting and have the best intentions and have everything mapped out the way you think it’s going to go, but things can and often do change those plans during meetings. We’ll agree to disagree.

  48. You know what's infuriating? When people forget about our other, younger reserve rider. Its not about just improving celina because she's a woman. It's about improving and helping reserve riders because they are young riders who could do with it.
