no rush for silverware out first year in the league Och it’s sport back the wee riders6 points

Yes the reserves are a weakness, but as been said who is available to replace them ? The comets have only just returned to the championship, imo this is a year to find our feet and be competitive, which we are doing at home, away slightly different, but we have speedway back enjoy the journey and in future we may have a more balanced side with reserves who can score some points, remember the comets did not get accepted to the league till mid November, all other teams already had their sides sorted, so comets got shafted by Godfrey and Co5 points

Yes they are very weak, but it was the management committee who decided to weaken the league to such an extent, that all clubs have got Development league riders in their teams this season . Sam McGurk is not the only rider struggling. Poole have struggled for a No7. Trigger up until last week hadn’t pulled up too many trees. Berwick's Young reserve is struggling, Edinburgh 's reserves are up and down. The young lad at Glasgow looks out of his depth. In all truth a lot of these boys should not be riding in the championship, all it's doing is draining them of there confidence. Nine times out of ten they only score points off of each other or if a 1-5 rider has an e/f or falls! The management committee voted for it, no doubt to save money. So it is them and not the young lads, fans should be moaning at.3 points

Didn’t watch the stream last night, mainly due to the fact I pretty much seen what was coming. Reserves are what’s costing us and will only continue costing us valuable points if changes aren’t made. There’s so much added pressure onto Sam due to the fact his reserve partner is well below par. Was all for giving her a chance but nothings changing. Getting rid of Sam isn’t the right decision, he’s young and learning. Getting rid of Celina and finding someone who can actually score points and take the pressure off Sam, is the right decision.3 points

A bit of a let down as a meeting. I arrived at the car park. The moment I got out of the car it was like opening the oven door to check on my roast potatoes, so I was sure then that it was going to be dry and dusty, and so it proved. From the opening heat, a lot of the riders looked more interested in preserving their own lives rather than racing for points - and who could blame them. The first time they came round bend 4 it looked like they were all going to hit the fence coming out of the bend. From then on a lot of riders clearly showed little effort once at the back. This carried on for many processional races, until about 3 or 4 to go where there was actually a few semi-decent races. It's a shame. I was looking forward to seeing Workington, and had told my son to watch out for Tate Zischke. "He's a star of the future," I said. "Watch him go" I said. "That means he'll be rubbish," he said. Oh, how he gloated at my rubbish speedway predictions.3 points

Just for the record Steve, Mulford was beaten by Hagon in heat 93 points

Not really a shock , it's up there as one of the worst tracks in the UK imo considering it's history of attracting some of the worlds best riders. Its obviously the over the top wages they must pay out.3 points

Vinnie is good prospect, but this continued weakening of the League does but a lot more pressure for young riders to perform above their average. It is a big step up for these guys. Not many have make a huge impact .2 points

Good job your not a team manager then. He was doing fine last night untill he picked up some unwanted grip . Nothing more nothing less. In his first meeting with us he was trying far to hard and over riding . He clearly has abillity but he's just been unlucky . He's a likeable down to earth lad, but we will have to see what both Matt and Dan are prepared to do in the short term2 points
-
He does have a tendency to ride a tight inside line most of the time which is a dodgy style on patchy tracks. IMO He got away with it at Glasgow because track conditions suited his style.Wish him well though and hope he has a speedy recovery.2 points

Fingers crossed we get a good meeting here. Harris and Worrall are a powerhouse top 2, could be a good even fight elsewhere in the line ups however...2 points

Just going by what they've said about Covatti, Kurtz & Museilak recently. If Tobi keeps racing in Poland then they can't carry on giving us facilities, that'd be daft. Bit different with Klindt as his season is over full stop but there are riders around and after a certain time we should be made to sign one IMO. Guests and R/R need to be kept to a minimum.2 points

Oxford probably would have won at Foxhall earlier in the season when Tungate didn’t fancy it (sorry I mean was stuck in traffic) and Oxford had to run with 6 riders. We won by 6 in the end, with Oxford only having one representative in four heats. Lots of anomalies there though. Nicholls guesting FOR Oxford, not for us. But then Doyle was riding and we were at full strength. Harris and Janowski unbelievably scored seven between them! That won’t happen again. Harris far better at Foxhall than his score of 4, and Janowski is now riding far better than his score of three that evening. Does that mean anything regarding tonight’s meeting? No, not really. Which means all I’ve just typed was a waste of time and a load of old guff really2 points

Don't think you are allowed to bring someone back if they have been dropped, except for returning from injury2 points

I know it wasn't the NDLRC, even if the referee said to me it was, I'd tell him he's wrong. Trying to remember the last time a 3.00 NL reserve 2 matches into his career qualified for the NDLRC The biggest hint that it wasn't the NDLRC, is the long discussion forum users have been having about it. I cannot remember a single season from 94-23 where there was ever a question of "is this the league riders championship"2 points

Excellent meeting tonight on a very good track with no dust until the final couple of heats. Extremely well watered with plenty of dirt made for a trick first few heats but after about heat 4 the track produced some very good races. A special mention for a couple of riders who were quite excellent. Vinnie Foord who really should have captured third place but dropped points in a nasty fall with a do or die swoop in his last down the back straight. He flipped and went cartwheeling into the fence and was lucky to walk away. Some of his passing was excellent and if he could gate we would have a very good up and coming young rider. Also worthy of a mention is Sonny Springer, the youngest rider on show tonight. He had never ridden the track before but he won his last two races and looked fast and stylish. A rider to look out for. The meeting went down to a runoff between Jake Mulford who had been excellent tonight, and only beaten by Foord, as was Sam Hagon who also only dropped a point to Foord. But the runoff was decided down the back straight of lap one when Hagon got his head in front and after that it was never in doubt. The U21 British Champ can now add the NLRC title to his honors. Well done to Mulford for a battling performance. A good nights entertainment.2 points

Workington good top5 but the weakest reserve pairing in the league will be there undoing.2 points

This is all about transparency and consistency for me... because the SCB were so quick to jump on Plymouth with the Nico Covatti situation, they then, surely, had to (be seen) to apply the same rules (and sanctions) to Musielak and Kurtz... I'm not entirely sure this has happened. Because British Speedway likes to think it operates in its own bubble they have to word their statements so carefully that they end up making no sense. If a rider had aggravated an injury abroad, say so, it happens, if foreign clubs are persuading riders to miss matches over here, call them out and say so.2 points

This is what’s annoying me a bit here. Most folk having a debate on whether vinnie or max is the man for the job. Talking about championship level speedway. Last night was national league, at a track which is his home track, against riders he should be beating anyways because he’s racing in the championship. It’s completely irrelevant.1 point

Seen plenty riders give it 110% and manage to keep hold of the bike. There’s going for it and reckless and I know which category he’s falling into at the minute. How he hasn’t been more seriously injured lately is nothing short of a miracle.1 point

Max was signed before his crash. How many times do you need to be told the same thing!! If the Poole management want to change the team it is up to them. Their money at the end of the day. Oh, it doesn't matter if it was a three rider race. He still scored when you said he hadn't. So you were still wrong.1 point

Sam never really gated well last season but looked good catching and passing riders. The difference this season of course is that they’re better class riders in front of him and when he doesn’t gate so he’s not catching them. Would like to see him improve and stay but….1 point

He's due to ride for Krosno Sunday, no doubt after Tuesday's knock they've advised him to rest until Sunday to make sure he's fit.1 point

I've always said it wasn't the NDLRC, despite Poole wanting to call it that. Kind of a shame they are calling it that only because the NDLRC wasn't going to be held this year. There's gonna be clubs finishing the season early if they don't make the play-offs, ideally one of these clubs would hold the actual NDLRC in September.1 point

From official Leicester Speedway: "Congratulations to Lions Rising Star Sam Hagon who won the first event in the new National League Riders' Development Series at Poole tonight!" From BSPL site: "POOLE reserve Sam Hagon took victory in the club’s NDL Individual event at Wimborne Road after a run-off with Jake Mulford" note: "club's NDL individual event" So not the NDLRC then?1 point

Enjoyed this meeting, track was heavy to start with but trying to get water into track on one the hottest days of year was always going to be challenging. Once the top surface was turned over in first 4 races produced an entertaining meeting.1 point

For me, the standout incident was the suicide of Billy Sanders in 1985, as this put a cloud over the speedway for some time, particularly because as a fan, I had no idea this was a possibility and he was almost unbeaten at that point of the season. Other memories/incidents (it's a long list): Michael Lee and John Cook coming out naked and doing a lap or two, again mid-eighties; John Louis breaking the track record to 60.8s and it being beaten I think by John Cook who went under 60s for the first time; Kevin Jolly ploughing through the 4th bend fence and going end over end and landing on his feet (early 80s); me beating Scott Nicholls in a second half race (admittedly he fell off ); me practising at Foxhall alongside my idol at the time Jeremy Doncaster (mid 90s); Jeremy pulling off his dirt deflector from the bike by hand at the frustration of being excluded I think; me and friends as children riding bicycles around the woods/car park, skidding like we were speedway riders; winning the KO cup in 1985 given the loss of Billy; Preben Eriksen wheelieing a big enduro-style bike at the last meeting of the season and all the japes that used to go on at those meetings; Eriksen getting in trouble with the law for the seductive artwork on the rear of his van; John Cook riding around Foxhall clockwise (silencer & footrest swapped over/removed) and managing to slide the bike around the turns as well, far better than anyone else. Hans Nielsen winning the Star of Anglia or Golden Sovereign every year it seemed; JL being run over by Doncaster at the start of a 16 lapper; the people sitting in the tree watching the action for free; the great collapsible safety fence; Good Friday home & away against King's Lynn. Thanks for your aggressive reply and incorrect assumptions. All I did was state facts - mine were factual, unlike yours As you know, I always did cover the junior meetings Triple H and I loved them. Unfortunately though we are in the minority which is why I dont think also running NDL would keep people going regularly every Friday. Bierao I wouldnt have a clue about the attendance at Armadale for NDL meetings, hopefully one of the Edinburgh people or NDL reps could give an answer. I dont think, in my opinion, that its the race day putting people off. Most people were all for Glasgow moving to the Friday night and night time racing. I think the problem is a set up where clubs go weeks without fixtures and fans cant say 'we race on Xday, lets go along' is the issue but as I say thats only my opinion1 point

When I wrote my small booklet on Briggs and Moore, I spoke to a number of Wimbledon riders about this very subject. Their view was unanimous. Moore was the greatest; Briggs treated them like one of the opposition! This is what Bob Andrews said (and it is fairly typical of them all): "...he {Ronnie] knew I could gate. He said "get to the first bend first, and leave a gap at about a foot from the line, if I need to I will come through." Bob said that's how they got a lot of 5-1s. He went on to say, "I then had a season riding with Barry - oh my God! I would gate, then leave a foot of room in case he wanted to come through. Usually, by the next bend, he would not just come through, but he would hang me on the fence. Briggs was a selfish rider."1 point

Whilst the BSN streams (which as you say are very good) may impact attendances, what about the people following the away team who purchase the stream? Away supporters at most tracks are in the minority and I would expect that a sizeable proportion of stream subscribers are following the away team. The purchase of a stream is approximately half the cost of attending a meeting. I don’t know what percentage of the stream fee finds its way to the club, but they will be getting money from people who would never have attended. Whilst we don’t have access to figures, look at the turnstile revenue shortfall on a streamed meeting and compare it with money received from the stream. Bottom line - is there a significant net loss or profit, which is more important than the number of people in attendance on the night?1 point

With only Birmingham not riding next Monday, that could stuff Lynn.Worrall and Brennan the only ones that can guest,as i don't think Lindgren could guest on a re-assessed average. So if that is the case i would have Brennan for Klindt and RR for Musielak.1 point
