Title favourites? How do you work that out? The maximum amount of points Belle Vue can get is 16.... Leicester already have 13 with four matches left. If the Lion Cubs can't pick up three points from those matches, it'll be a miracle.5 points

I love the way British speedway more or less shuts down in the Summer as they are worried that crowds will be low… then reschedule for October when it’s so cold only 4 men and a dog show up and it gets called off at heat 10. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.5 points

Think it’s fair to say all is not well at KL there has been dodgy call offs in fact very dodgy but bit harsh wanting KL expelled from the league I’d have thought losing any club is the last thing the sport needs .4 points

They should bin the TV if they can't actually be brave enough to carry on as normal. No issues with the weather last night, meeting should've run.4 points

I'm struggling to see why Poole should have any facility if it's a pre arranged fixture and a rider is choosing to be elsewhere.3 points

Obviously not according to Lynnboy who lives very much nearer to the Lynn track than you.It may have been able to be run in Lincolnshire. It did rain here in Wisbech at about 4pm for a couple hrs and stopped a while then started again about 8pm.Rain moves in mysterious ways.3 points

https://ipswichwitches.co/raceday-preview-leicester-rowe-motor-oil-premiership-r2-a/ Nicholls in for Doyle no surprises there, but what IS a surprise and a good one from an Ipswich point of view, Dan Thompson isn’t yet ruled out which means the injury isn’t as bad as first feared. That is absolutely massive for our chances at the business end of the season.2 points

So you feel sorry for the King's Lynn fans, but want Buster chucked out.So where does that leave King's Lynn Speedway with no Buster. No Speedway imo,so not really feeling sorry for the Lynn fans.2 points

Makes sense for Cairns, best track in the country, guaranteed spot for next season so no need to worry about averages AND not signing for Leicester means his Dad can be in the pits at his meetings and focus on being promotor when Leicester are running. William looks as promising as Luke Harrison did during his 'breakthrough' period and if he follows on he will be doing alright. Probably the most positive footnote is Belle Vues intention to run in the NDL next season, i just hope there is enough quality in the league to challenge Cairns. and other emerging riders.2 points

An away defeat won't hurt Poole in the slightest so why not use r/r and give your own riders extra races!2 points

Ah, too many fixtures - or too many teams in the league :-) :-)2 points

No it isn’t, there is nothing in a speedway engine today that wasn’t in a 1930s one the materials are better, unlike other sports which are much vastly more expensive using injection systems and ECUs but as I’ve been banging on for years speedway doesn’t need half the BS that riders use today like the karger ignition which put the price up for no gain for the sport and then the expect the fan to pay for it, on the SON something is only worth as much as folk are prepared to pay for it and clearly the crowd showed it wasn’t worth what discovery think it’s worth, a good indication worth’s at the moment was the speedway auction at Ledbury last week, a lot of the bikes didn’t fetch half what they are worth and this is the case for classic cars too. Speedway needs a reality check to where it stands in society. The SON was despite the weather an exiting well run event and imo was the best sporting event in this country this year but such a shame that nobody saw it2 points

Maybe Ritchie was referring to the low likelihood of finding a replacement for JD rather than the timeframe in which it had to be achieved. As you say 1 August is not far away and had the meeting not been postponed last night it would have been 25 July (9 days time)! Maybe Buster can do the Witches a favour and buy some more time by postponing the meeting next week!1 point

In Denmark league they not allowed to drop tear offs now due to environmental laws. So the tear offs and threaded on that yellow wire so when they pull it off it is retained. Not sure if this means for the GP there all riders will have to have it?1 point

At the risk of repeating myself, the Redcar vPoole fixture which is what the thread is about!! is on this date as originally set at start of season, not rearranged. This is the match I’m talking about1 point

Glad Scotty Nicholls is guesting, always glad to see him back at the den and will make this meeting even more interesting. This one is too close to call. Leaning towards an Witches win as they seem to love our track everytime they visit1 point

so do the fans have to pay 100 quid or so extra at next home meeting to cover signing on fees and such like1 point

Wasn’t that always the case as per the Statement by the BSPL? Lynn had until the 14th and then it was either a replacement or up to 75% of his average? Or maybe that was someone on here that came up with that I honestly can’t remember.1 point

Guy was your team sponsor too for a year. I don’t know why he didn’t continue but at Ipswich he is certainly very valued and not took for granted. The question should be why can’t you retain your main sponsors ?1 point
-
Correct, King's Lynn wouldn't exist. The club has become an embarrassment to the league. At the same time, every club & those responsible for the BSPL have to take some of the responsibility. This country is not in a fit state to run a top division with GP riders at a competitive level. Sheffield & Ipswich are only able because of Guy Nicholls of TruPlant. These 2 clubs ain't necessarily run well, just well financed and are actually suffocating British Speedway. There should be 1 big league.1 point

I feel sympathy for the KL fans and Rob Lyon, the problem is you have calamity Chapman and amateur Allitt. Get rid of those 2 and hopefully a new owner and KL would be good again.1 point

They know deep down, Proof's in the pudding. KL fans want a return to the Championship because even they're fed up of seeing patched up 1-7's being put on track at Premiership level every week which has gotten a lot worse over the last two years, Injuries can on be blamed for a part of it but that's got nothing to do with the Pickering and Musielak dramas over the last two seasons. Points deduction speaks for itself when it comes to running Home meetings so that's not even debateable. I've seen various clubs try and force meetings through on BSN this year with forecasts that weren't great (Brum vs. Oxford as well as Oxford vs. Ipswich) therefore no excuse is acceptable for someone who simply won't even give the weather forecast a chance to change before calling meetings off (Buster)1 point

100%, I'm going to hand all of my posting duties over to you! No doubt, Lynn fans will argue that other teams do points 1, 2 or 3 but the difference is King's Lynn do 1,2 & 3. They not only mess other teams around but both fans of King's Lynn and visiting teams, who will also have made arrangements to attend etc. If they can't run a team in a home and away league programme, which they clearly can't, they should be expelled and concentrate on getting their own house in order with open meetings etc. And try and build up a fan base again before being allowed to return. If King's Lynn do not return to PL racing next year, it pains me to say it as I've spent many happy evenings at Saddlebow Road, nobody outside of King's Lynn would miss them.1 point

Maybe that is what you should have posted. When I post something about the weather I would normally put where I am currently.I remember going once, and all the way to pullover roundabout it was hammering down, then all of a sudden it stopped raining and the roads were bone dry for the last few hundred yards. Last week out on my travels, the side of the road I was on was wet ,the other side dry.The rain has to stop somewhere, even in the UK1 point

1993,'Wolverhampton v Belle Vue... Wolves needed a draw, and the Aces needed the win to be Champions.. No play offs then, just a league that ended with the top team winning.... The Aces were 8 points down, with only a few races left, and only that win on the night would do... The four of us there that night all agreed to watch one more race and then get out quickly, so we didn't have to watch the mullet headed Wolves fans (in all their 70's denim clothes), celebrate... Then the Aces got a 0-5.. Then suddenly a couple of races later, were one point up, with just one race left .. And then Bobby Ott flew from the tapes, with Jason Lyons riding shotgun, whilst Peter Karlsson did his best to spear him at the end of every straight, eventually doing so, lap 3, which let Henka Gustafsson through too... But neither could catch "Bob".... There must easily have been 800 and more Aces fans there that night (how times change), and the lady in the " Wolves Megastore" was particularly unimpressed when, as we finally left, I asked her if she had any "Wolves 1993 Champions" car stickers.. I think her face, and the pile of unopened boxes behind the wallpaper paste table used as a "display", told me the answer...... Big crowd, great atmosphere, and the right result... Just like the other night at the SON....1 point

They wouldn’t sack him as he is an up and coming rider who would be picked up by a rival club straight away. Threats from different countries should not allow federation rules to be broken, regardless of money. His Polish team would have known about the clash at the start of the season. As a Brit, a 30 day ban should be the order of the day for withholding his services. Harsh but stops young riders chasing the money rather than the team he should be riding for.1 point

I think the moral of the story is don’t believe speedway is a summer sport. Shame for you and your girlfriend, I hope she enjoyed the SON. Not sure what it is like in Ipswich but just east of Colchester, bone dry, no rain and some intermittent evening sunshine. Back in the day of Sky ports, when the cameras were in town, the club would do its utmost to get the meeting on. Perhaps now with Eurosport they charge for turning up and no club is willing to take the risk. I cannot think why else it is called off so early these days.1 point

Of course, how silly of me.. Just the 3 meetings scheduled in the country for today then, in East Anglia, Suffolk, and the Midlands. All Busters fault, no doubt.1 point

Speedway is cheap in the uk IMO We just been away to “the seaside”. We enjoyed an ice cream cone each, just a single blob. It was very nice (cherry flavour with slices of cherry too). £9 for the two (and kept an eye on the seagulls). Stayed a few night in a 7 bedroomed B&B, nothing cheaper than £75 per night, we paid £100 per night and was very happy, lovely place. Snack lunch in a corner cafe near the seafront, just a panini and fresh salad, very nice, cup of coffee each after. £28 for two. It’s today’s cost of enjoying yourself on a break. (I also got a £25 fixed price car park ticket that I appealed against and won). Today, speedway tracks are closing down, have been for a long time, some due to environmental issues, or land development, but some because not enough money is being made to make a track a viable proposition. Up go the prices a quid or two and “foul” is shouted by the fans. Speedway is a technical motorised sport, and costly to compete, riders travelling hundreds of miles each week, often this means it’s there only means of making a living. Lots of costs associated with running a stadium. All needs to be paid for, if the fans don’t/wont the track closes down. There are those on here today who remember Wembley in the 60’s/70’s with a 80,000+ crowd. That was then, 50 or 60 years ago! 50 or 60 years ago. At times I can’t get used to today’s prices when compared to how things were in the good ole days, but life has moved on. I’m careful what I spend money on, but sometimes get caught “by the moment” and buy something I later wish I hadn’t. That’s how it goes sometimes. As for today, I can’t afford, nor do I want to travel 65 miles return to watch Belle Vue. I cannot afford all the subscription channels that may show all I want to watch. So I am happy to pay for a sub channel that gives me all the GP’s, events such as SON, British championship, some British league matches and a few others such as world championship Challenge. That cost me about the same as 4 admission prices to British Premiere league matches (for one person). Would be nice to be there in person, but apart from costs as a pensioner there’s the other reason of me or the wife not always feeling too good.1 point

Pretty sure had Dan Thompson not come to grief team GB would have most certainly had got a medal. It may have even been gold because he looked even faster than Flint imo.1 point

Message to racegoers from the Belle Vue Charitable Trust For those racegoers unaware, Belle Vue has a Trust which was set up to support our riders and other charitable initiatives, supporting those in need of help. For those who contribute regularly to the 50:50 draw and Chase's White Line Challenge, those proceeds go into the trust to raise funds for these causes. Following Tate's crash on Monday, the Trust has got to action and kindly agreed to pay for Tate's Mum's flight to the UK from Australia so she can be with him as he enters his next stage of recovery. The trust has also been liaising with the team at the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund who will support with expenses whilst here in the UK and we're sure the other crowd funding / fundraising initiatives will help him get back on his feet, replace damaged equipment and cover expenses in the months to come. All of this would not be possible without the tremendous support we receive week in week out from the supporters of Belle Vue Speedway and the unfailing efforts of David Burroughs and his Belle Vue Speedway Supporters Club (BVSSC) team. And not forgetting, the great support shown at tracks across the country for Benevolent Fund track collections. A huge thank you to you all and a huge personal thank you.
