And yet an awful lot of people take American sports seriously, despite numerous ways in which weaker teams are given a 'helping hand' (draft picks, revenue sharing, salary caps etc). Without support for weaker teams many tracks would have closed at some point in the past and in all likelihood been permanently lost to the sport, thus accelerating the sport's decline.4 points

For what it's worth WWE attracts huge audiences wherever they go - and tickets are by no means cheap! Give the followers what they want. Create heroes and villains, goodies and baddies and hype up the media!š Wake up, we're in the Sports Entertainment sector, people!!3 points

I would say crowd sizes go... 1 - Ipswich 2 - Oxford 3 - Belle Vue 4 - Sheffield 5 - Leicester 6 - King's Lynn 7 - Birmingham Oxford probably would be top if they didn't race in the Championship as well, that has to dent Premiership crowds a bit. Basically the top 5 are all pretty close regardless, and are all well supported.2 points

Jury is out on Dan Thompson and Tom Brennan being on an upward trajectory? Youāve gotta be kidding here surely??2 points

Regardless of who he signs for, he will have ridden for everyone before the season is done.2 points

if you want to be a winner you have to be an arsehole on the track, you don't get anywhere being nice .. it's why Leigh Adams never won a world title. Nicki Pedersen away from the racetrack is one of the nicest people you'll meet, but on track, a winner2 points

The Cairns family are based in Hertfordshire but distance is no problem for them. They think nothing of hiring and driving up to Workington to have a practice for 3hrs . Like most Leicester fans I am very disappointed that Will wonāt ride for the Lions at present but understand and respect his decision maybe one day in the future. Although not sure if he may sign as a Lions asset and then be loaned to other clubs in a similar way that BV signed James Pearson then loaned him to Birmingham1 point

I met Emil after British GP at Cardiff around 12 years ago in the services on M4 on way home. He was having some his well earn't dinner and having narrowly missed out on winning the GP earlier. Came over to him and had quick thumbs up consoling him on not winning and said he should have won the meeting. The guy took time out from what he was doing and chatted to us and had some photos with us. He is not only a brilliant Speedway rider , he is a brilliant person too. He surely should have been a multiple World Champion by now. Great to see him back next year. Emil is a Top Man !! See you next year Emil.1 point

No. £24 admission is £20 + VAT. So a 500 crowd at £20 is £10k. On average there are 100 points in a meeting, so just £100 per point would wipe out that £10k, without even taking into account the riders' travel expenses and flights and tyres. Then there's signing on fees, stadium rent, insurance, medical cover, meeting fees, referee fee, track preparation, other staff costs, utilities, etc etc. You wouldn't get far on the gate money of 500 people1 point

How is there extra pressure, he's on a 3 point average, but was averaging above that in the top 5 last year? Besides anyone in a team with Doyle & Sayfutdinov shouldn't feel any pressure knowing they'll be scoring the bulk of the points, add in possibly the strongest RS & I'm assuming an fast improving Brennan & Rew - I can't imagine anyone in the Ipswich team feeling any pressure.1 point

Not necessarily. They just need to be on good form so it makes it hard to drop them from the team. Or do better than the other reserve (whoever that may be - so they get replaced instead). Although teams make changes during the season anyway so could get picked up by someone else if they are seen to perform well. Blobby seems to think it's Trigger but whoever it is, at least they have a heads up to what is happening so it is their choice knowing it prob not for a full season.1 point

Shame they don't post the crowd figures like they do in Poland, Sweden & many other sports in Britain. Save all the speculation & be interesting to see the numbers.1 point

Great to see Emil back. Loved Emil's words in the PR, He is determined to win the league with Ipswich and he's not going anywhere until he does it. Those aren't the words of a guy who's half asked and only in Britain to top up the bank account. 100% dedication from Emil.1 point

Lord Tolley gave a good insight during his interview at the speedway show on Saturday. I didn't know that their stadium rent is paid monthly over 12 months and he said was £5.5k. The other point of interest I noted was that they have budgeted for next season based on a crowd of 500, which should be easily achievable.1 point

In the relegation play-offs the semi winners are safe and the 2 losers then face each other with the winner safe and the loser relegated( only 1 promoted from Div 2.1 point

I think there is improvement in Emil personally. Averaged 10.10 in 2023, this year 9.12. He struggled with engines both here and in Poland and couldnāt get to the bottom of the issues until mid season. Finally got going and then it was normal service resumed. Because of that he dropped a point off his average. Thereās improvement there.1 point

While I've enjoyed watching Iversen ,& Harris over their careers and Kvech & Cook last year, on occasion Boughen too... that's not a team to challenge. Sorry. That team would need to be 10 points up by heat 12 to have a chance. Klindt is always injured and out for the season by May. And not Oxford. Surely won't be at Belle Vue. Don't tell me the Sheffield management aren't building a ridiculous top heavy team!1 point

Why? They knew their contracts ran out on 31 October 2024, why would that have any effect on him signing a different contract to start on 15 March 2025? My gas contract doesn't run out until the end of Feb 2025, I've already signed one to start 1 March 2025.1 point

Iād be ecstatic with that team, really solid and will definitely makes the playoffs barring loads of injuries at the same time (again)1 point

Only Belle Vue can say they get both consistently. It's the only Premiership track that is conductive to genuine, full tilt racing. Every other track is predominantly follow the leader until a rider makes an error, or the heatleader misses the start. One of Birmingham's big error in team building last year was simple, they signed no trappers.1 point

So is saying Rowe is currently āway in frontā based on the fact he gets rides in Poland. That in itself isnāt a yardstick to compare them which is what youāre doing. The only fair comparison is a comparison in which they compete in the same league. That is the ONLY way to compare where theyāre currently at. Look, I know itās absolutely desperate being a Lynn fan these days but trying desperately to claim some kind of small victory by claiming a rising star that rode for you this year (one that has already buggered off btw) is in a different stratosphere as a rival Rising star when it blatantly isnāt the case, is bizarre in the extreme.1 point
