This miserable post receiving one, never mind three likes, is wild.š Itās a natural emotion. People feel excitement at the prospect of something they enjoy or find rewarding. Wait only adds to the excitement. Donāt get me wrong, Iām exaggerating with the daily āAnnounce Boughenā posts, but the day I feel no excitement at the prospect of Glasgowās line-up being announced is the day I stop going to the speedway. Itās a tremendous aspect of the sport, team building. In any sport, for that matter. Regardless of whether we know who the seven will be too. For example, I know my wifeās making turkey dinosaurs and alphabetti spaghetti for dinner tonight and have done all week, but Iām still excited.6 points

Not sure why the need for concern? Let's say Berwick only have Cook as a "genuine heat leader", Edinburgh only have Sedgmen, Oxford only have Masters & Plymouth haven't named any. Looks like we'll have more teams built with strength in depth in mind?3 points

Things may have changed over the last month and may just being championship but havenāt heard anything to say he is.3 points

3 years - 2014, 2023 and 2024. But at 37 he looks the perfect standard bearer for Poole's youth policy. š¤Ŗ3 points

My condolences! For some reason people will pay for Premier League football which is often a rather dull affair - the ball is often in play for only 55-60 minutes of the 90. As someone who has over the years attended a lot of spectator sports I still think a decent speedway match tops the lot.2 points

The best ability is availability, as they say. Even if other #1s aren't as good as Cook, at least they'll turn up every week. Valid concern when signing Cook these days.2 points

That's not how the averages work, Newman averaged 4.96 from 11 matches, his rolling average consisted of these along with 9 matches from 2023. If he rode one more match, he'd still carry 8 matches from 2023 in his rolling average. I'm not sure who Plymouth have planned for 2025, but I'd welcome Newman back for another go.2 points

because people want to see the better riders the championship will begin without pickering nicholls schlein brennan and b cook and some of the named sides look pretty ropey compared to last season many folk will pay more to see their team but you cant blame those who refuse to absorb the price hike2 points

Don't panic people. I guess we'll find out for certain on Saturday!! Nb I've not heard the 'returning Aussie' rumour...,!2 points

Behind every single successful speedway team that ever existed has been a presence on the British Speedway Forum. This topic sits at 14 pages. Fourteen. One. Four. Glasgow? Weāre at 25. Even Berwick are in the twenties. Youāre one page ahead of Plymouth and their entire fan base consists of two men and a dog.2 points

Norwich could tear up Carrow Rd and put a speedway track in it. Youād see more entertainment that way!2 points

I know what it is supposed to say. But what it says is that silencers have to be at least 4 years old to be used. So anything newer than 2021 can't be used.2 points

Only £13 saving on a season ticket, over paying on the gate. Not much of an incentive to buy one imho.2 points

It is a strange one,I guess some fans are fans of winning, and some are fans of speedway.2 points

If I remember people were saying the Fords made one of the worst signings ever in Tobias, and look what happened there1 point

Same happened in Poland this season, riding in the 3rd tier for Pila. Done nothing much in 11 meetings then in his last meeting of the season went out and scored 13+1 from 5.1 point

The present fan base will be disappointed with the standard of the Championship dropping every year and admission prices rising and the sport is not attracting new fans in any great numbers.Sadly.1 point

You would think Foord would be at Poole if it was offered. I cannot believe they would choose Starke over him, makes no sense.1 point
-
Can only think it was maybe related to when he thought it was being a 38 point limit. Then Foord got snapped up by Worky by which time too late to get him back thus changing plans for the new 40 point limit. Having said that I have a sneaky feeling they had already tapped up Starke for 2025 after his impressive returns against Poole at Poole last season. 3 matches - 14 rides for a 4 ride CMA of 5.71 or 6.57 incl bonus. Perhaps the thought process is to try and hold their own in the reserves race rather than get wiped out 1-5. He can pick up extra points plus hopefully they can rack up enough points over the top 5 to win well enough to gain the important bonus point over 2 legs. Hopefully stay in top 4 for when Cairns should hopefully shore up the reserve partnership in July. Factor in that with Tobias at 2, he could easily swap with Starke at reserve and we know what he is capable of from that slot as in later stages of 2024.1 point

Also is Saturday the annual Sponsors get together with the Ford's. Wonder if they will announce Cairns (and the temp hold 2 pointer), or maybe Rowe. They used it last year to announce Brennan. Assume you will be there as usual ?1 point
-
Iām still struggling to believe itās Anders, Starke and a 2 pointer leaving them almost a point under the limit. Danny Ford said they had to drop Vinnie because if they kept him then they would have ended up too many points under the limit. Well Vinnie would have fitted in the above team instead of Starke and they would have been closer to the 40 limit.1 point

Tbf at that stage of the season there was nothing riding on the fixtures till the play-offs started, that could also have affected the crowds.1 point

I can see Nicholls slotting in nicely as part of a double change if things donāt go as planned. The reserves are both exciting prospects, Masters is one of the top three riders in the league and I think Jenkins will keep improving. It will be interesting to see if Heeps can be as successful as he was last season, Knudsen has been nothing short of a disappointment in the last couple of seasons at Berwick and Redcar after a promising start but he has plenty promise, Gilkes is pretty meh for me but plenty people seem to rate him so Iāll maybe be proven wrong on that one.1 point

I have to say, if it's confirmed 2 x 4pt reserves, I'd quite honestly have to say it's one of the worst ever attempts at team building I've ever seen from the Monarchs management. And I've been around to witness multiple efforts. Sedgmen is not a number 1. Castagna is not a number 5. Thomson is adequate at 3 or 4. Palovaara or SuperGrahn must be at reserve. There's no point in having them both in the top 5. The 4-pointers may well do ok at reserve. However, any possible potential gain from that 'strength' will be well and truly cancelled out by those above who have, quite frankly, been thrown to the wolves. I look forward to counting the heat advantages from 13 and 15. Should be fun...1 point

I'd have never in a million guesses named Jonas or Mitch. It's nice to see so many new faces in this country next year, well done oxford. I've just realised though... that leaves either Jenkins, Heeps, Gilkes or Knudsen as the number 5... and a lot of team surgery required if Scott comes back from injury.1 point

Iād be paying to watch all the team as I want to win the league and not selected heats. Each to their own I guess!1 point

It might be a cock-up from Neil Vatcher saying that silencers have to be a minimum of 4 years old, and it might be a problem for riders who have bought new silencers, but this rule is a good day for those who long to hear the roar of an old JAP or 70s Jawa1 point

Why is everyone so excited for the team to be announced when we all know the 1-7 and have done for at least a month?1 point
-
And sadly that is true! With my Poole hat on Brennan is replaced by Lewi, Brennan is the much better rider, Ben Cook is replaced by Zach or Anders, Ben is a much better rider than those. Poole had to lose 7 points which I don't dispute that is the rules made by all clubs at the AGM. Admission will increase again in 2025 I'm sure for all clubs as costs have increased. But anyone that tells me the team coming to tapes in 2025 and the one that finished 2024 at Poole is a better product are living in a different universe. It is a weaker product on offer, I will still go but please don't tell me its the same or better as it isn't! Back to Glasgow if the team is as predicted, they will start as favourites for 2025. Entertaining team that will put a show on for the fans on a great race track. Good luck in 20251 point

I agree, Mr J. I'm trying hard not to criticise the promotion here! But the reality is that any individual who decides on the day to attend a Premiership meeting at Oxford - and then parks at Unipart, even with no intention of using the coach - is now paying £27.1 point

Never any surprise in Poole not supporting youth development but happy to cherry pick the work of others.1 point

The home riders know this also. Theyāve also been critical of the track. It needs sorting because if riders donāt have confidence to ride to the max there, then the supporters are the ones who will suffer.1 point
