  1. This miserable post receiving one, never mind three likes, is wild.šŸ˜‚ It’s a natural emotion. People feel excitement at the prospect of something they enjoy or find rewarding. Wait only adds to the excitement. Don’t get me wrong, I’m exaggerating with the daily ā€œAnnounce Boughenā€ posts, but the day I feel no excitement at the prospect of Glasgow’s line-up being announced is the day I stop going to the speedway. It’s a tremendous aspect of the sport, team building. In any sport, for that matter. Regardless of whether we know who the seven will be too. For example, I know my wife’s making turkey dinosaurs and alphabetti spaghetti for dinner tonight and have done all week, but I’m still excited.

  3. Not sure why the need for concern? Let's say Berwick only have Cook as a "genuine heat leader", Edinburgh only have Sedgmen, Oxford only have Masters & Plymouth haven't named any. Looks like we'll have more teams built with strength in depth in mind?

  4. Things may have changed over the last month and may just being championship but haven’t heard anything to say he is.

  5. 3 years - 2014, 2023 and 2024. But at 37 he looks the perfect standard bearer for Poole's youth policy. 🤪

  7. My condolences! For some reason people will pay for Premier League football which is often a rather dull affair - the ball is often in play for only 55-60 minutes of the 90. As someone who has over the years attended a lot of spectator sports I still think a decent speedway match tops the lot.

  8. The best ability is availability, as they say. Even if other #1s aren't as good as Cook, at least they'll turn up every week. Valid concern when signing Cook these days.

  9. That's not how the averages work, Newman averaged 4.96 from 11 matches, his rolling average consisted of these along with 9 matches from 2023. If he rode one more match, he'd still carry 8 matches from 2023 in his rolling average. I'm not sure who Plymouth have planned for 2025, but I'd welcome Newman back for another go.

  10. because people want to see the better riders the championship will begin without pickering nicholls schlein brennan and b cook and some of the named sides look pretty ropey compared to last season many folk will pay more to see their team but you cant blame those who refuse to absorb the price hike

  11. Don't panic people. I guess we'll find out for certain on Saturday!! Nb I've not heard the 'returning Aussie' rumour...,!

  12. Behind every single successful speedway team that ever existed has been a presence on the British Speedway Forum. This topic sits at 14 pages. Fourteen. One. Four. Glasgow? We’re at 25. Even Berwick are in the twenties. You’re one page ahead of Plymouth and their entire fan base consists of two men and a dog.

  15. Norwich could tear up Carrow Rd and put a speedway track in it. You’d see more entertainment that way!

  16. I know what it is supposed to say. But what it says is that silencers have to be at least 4 years old to be used. So anything newer than 2021 can't be used.

  17. Only £13 saving on a season ticket, over paying on the gate. Not much of an incentive to buy one imho.

  18. It is a strange one,I guess some fans are fans of winning, and some are fans of speedway.

  19. There have been many opportunities to date but if you haven’t bought Scott Nicholls’ book there is another chance if you join us at the Brandon Club next Tuesday, 10th December, starting at 8pm. Scott will be signing and selling his book ……. just in time for Christmas. We will also spend the evening chatting with Scott. Everyone is welcome with a charge of only Ā£4 and all proceeds are for the GB Young Lions. Come and join us at the Brandon Club, Brandon, Coventry, CV8 3HW.

  20. No he won't as Cairns is at Poole

  21. Of course it’s a massive drop off, the team that finished last season needed to have 6.49 points taken off of it to make the limit for this season. They will still have one of the strongest teams in the league and will be challenging for silverware even if they pick Paul Starke. The continual hand wringing concerning whether the team will be strong enough really is boggling my mind.

  22. In June he will be dropped for Cairns

  25. Mitch only rode 17 Heats in the U24 league, the minimum criteria as a 5.00 rider is 18 heats or more.

  26. Yes you have! You commented when people discussing it on FB group. You might not have said Josh. You actually said Rory but you have heard it!

  27. PS is Paul Starke then.

  28. Also suspected he was a likely signing. Aggressive rider off the start with some CL experience, desperate for a place anywhere and easy to drop once Cairns comes of age.

  29. He also disappointed at Berwick.Won a couple of races when Berwick were at Oxford though.Jamie with the Berwick connection maybe thinks he will improve.Look decent at times.

  30. But all Clive said was his initials were JG, the only current rider I can find with those initials is Jason Garrad, probably a wind up though.

  31. More likely is Jason Garrad.

  32. Two things with this rumour. Doesn't he treat speedway more of a hobbie these days in Aus and also would he seriously be on a 4 point average??

  34. Jonas didn't really work out at Redcar at the beginning of last year at number 3 and number 2, he's a decent second string and good reserve but still young and I'm sure still improving. Mitch is Australia's equivalent of Ashton Boughen (forgive the reference). He's got all the talent and potential in the world, he's very young but just hasn't had the time yet to prove he's consistently going to be successful. He's a very exciting signing for British speedway in general imo. But as you say, Heeps as second highest scorer is concerning...

  44. Travel and riding for peanuts is part of it mate . As you know we ride at championship level and money ain't great and have got clubs offering places at the agreed rates for national league which is worse it's not full time for us as it don't pay the lad gets up and goes scaffolding everyday to earn enough to invest in machinery whether that's engines exhaust or limiters. At no point at this stage do we expect to earn enough through racing to cover its cost

  47. It isn't easy making strong looking teams, especially with a low points limit. But I notice you never give alternative teams or ideas to strengthen a team I've put out, just keep telling me they're awful! It's very easy to say a team looks bad without suggesting a better one, anyone could do that. If you think my teams are so bad & must clearly think it's easy to pick a stronger one, why not show me how to do it, you could easily say "how about rider A&B instead of C&D etc.

  48. The fans can make it viable by turning up in the same numbers they do for Championship fixtures. Here's hoping they do.
