  1. i too dont think its the money that has attracted Willie to Poole . its more about grabbing as many medals as poss and being able to show his £5 .00 medal around hie shoulders . ribbons and metal dont pay the bills tho . good luck to him and his team for 2025 .

  2. I come down from newport many times in a year to devon, this track is my fix for live speedway so I can't complain about anything I'm glad I can see speedway hope they do well

  5. I suspect Brennan's mind was made up once he was riding in the play-offs for the Witches. I would think Chris Louis was enquiring about Tom's availability before the 2024 season was over. Not that I see anything wrong with that. As for Zach, I think any goodwill on his behalf was lost when he was dropped in preference to a couple of other riders who should have gone.

  7. I think it might be a good idea if you got yourself a little more informed on what has happened at Coventry judging by your last couple of posts.

  8. I could use some very rude words to describe my feelings but they would serve no purpose. I saw two, three and four wheel racing and my parents must be turning in their graves at what happened to the stadium. They would be equally unhappy at the fate of all the London stadiums, Crawley Heath, Peterborough and so many others we enjoyed visiting for racing.

  12. I agree, was just replying to wether Bowtell / Joe could race NDT. However Joe may do it, if Plymouth needs a heat leader & to get some "paid practice" to help his Championship form?

  16. He didn't. Think the closest comparator is Troy Batchelor. Both ex GP, both clearly on the slide, both no longer attracting interest in Poland, but both still able to do a job in Championship. I think 8.5 is probably a pretty fair reflection of his likely scoring.

  17. Stats are okay abroad. PSD doesn't give stats for 2024 so he maybe didn't race. I think he will do well, the jury is more out for me reference Cook.

  19. Cooper Rushen has just been announced. so does that now leave 7.49. I would like to have Max Perry back. He is after all a Club Assett who had to be sacrificed last season to accommodate Joe Thompson.

  22. So are we now ruling out Nilsson and Thorssell? They surely would've been announced tonight if they were the last two as rumoured. Are we possibly looking at two from the following four? Sedgmen, Vuolas, S. Worrall & Kerr

  23. Was it Tai and auty at rye house when they turned 16 tore up the league from reserve finished on 7 plus averages? Or was it Kennett? Anyway I don't see him having the same type of immediate success but be glad if I was wrong. Nothing better seeing a kid hit ground running like that

  25. I haven’t seen Cairns ride live, and the videos of him racing last season at Oxford don’t show him as a Leigh Adams or Craig Boyce. Riders who started as a two pointer and ended on a 9. I don’t think we should be bigging up young William to be a match winner. He is starting the season behind the rest and if he can pick up 4 points a meeting he will be doing his job. Too much expectation leads to failure, and I am sure there will be plenty lining up to laugh at him if he finds the going tough. Already there seems to be too much expectation on his young shoulders.

  27. I said "at that age"blue, screenie straight into the top league, remember when think it was leigh Adams was tearing up the national league(now championship)and a 17yr old screen came down to poole for three match races against him and leigh couldn't get near him,Cairns is going to have to go some to be better than screen in the early yrs

  29. Brian Foote had similar characteristics as did Ted Hubbard, hard chargers. Brian always having elbows out and left leg pointing forward going into bends. Fun to watch and both hated being beaten.

  30. Jack Millen and Tony Childs had what I would call an aggressive style, coupled with a "thou shalt not pass" attitude. Aye, indeed, those were the days!!!

  31. He's hardly coming to Poole unless he has a 2.90 average

  32. Yeah, and that’s half of the problem with speedway these days….too expensive for youngsters to get into. Everything’s got to be top notch from day one…..equipment and glamour wise. Gone are the days of picking up an old secondhand machine, strapping it to the back of a car and trying to get second half rides around the country. No mechanics, sponsors or fancy vans in them days and more people were able to have a go.

  36. Its supposed to be a development league, the ‘winnings’ should be potential riders for the future, not a shiny £10 trophy and a picture in the Star. If clubs stuck to the principles and the recommended pay rates , there wouldn't be a ‘them and us’ attitude and clubs like Buxton , Mildenhall and even the Isle if Wight may still be running in the NDL but some clubs, and we all know who, have a win at all costs attitude and do what they want and not necessarily whats best for the sport. This coming season will see very few new faces in the league, just a couple of lads turning 15 will be about it as there has been precious little new riders taking up the sport. Attitudes need to change , more effort made to get kids on bikes, make the sport cheaper and not dearer as the new regs are doing or there wont be a future. There will always be winners and losers but at this level, it doesn't really matter !

  37. Excuse me Scunthorpe is more akin to downtown Gaza
    1 point
  38. That makes sense, except I'd expect Poole to have had Foord & a "temporary 2 points rider" so doubt his position would've been in jeopardy? Don't want to go in about Poole on an Edinburgh thread, but if my logic is correct, Starke is a possibility for the Monarchs.

  39. So what your saying is he mugged Berwick off by averaging 1.52 for them all season, and is proceeding to do a Kevin Wolbert on them to succeed at Glasgow, got ya.

  41. I for one am grateful that Scunthorpe are back again for another year. Whether they win or lose is a mute point because normally you are guaranteed a great night of racing. Too many on this forum (across all teams) are negative and critisise everything including general issue related to speedway, that also includes Rob and the management team, but I and every real speedway supporter who goes to Scunthorpe knows that Rob will do everything to keep speedway going irrespective of where it is. Lets get rid of the team blinkers and remember that speedway was and can be again a great family sport where everyone can go along, feel safe and enjoy some excitement on a track that is conducive to racing. Don't keep being negative, it does not help, if you want to critisise offer a solution, it's easy to moan.

  42. Delighted with that team. Statistically the two most improved riders in the Championship last season in Boughen and Thompson. I don’t rate Flint, but he has a second chance here and with one season under his belt, will hopefully kick-on. Hodder’s 6+2 from four while guesting in the last home fixture of the season speaks volumes for his potential. Nothing needs to be said about Harris. We’re favourites for this league title. It’s coming home.
