Luke's task this year is to up his average away from home and as long as he ends the year a better rider than he started we are happy. Boy rode well today whilst still feeling the affects of Wednesdays crash. Sorry he's not getting 15 every meeting to keep the keyboard hero's happy but never mind it's only speedway5 points

When there is no clubs left in the West Midlands the sport is official in the clink, I banged on about this 15-20 years ago about changes that need to be made both inside and outside the track, I don’t have all the answers or indeed may have non but the writing was on the wall from the late 90s but who am I ? It’s not your money yada yada yada and I took stick from some real tossers from both sides of the fence who are still running the sport into the ground today, angry ? damn right I am, I have lived speedway all my life and it’s really starting to hurt badly now and if I’m honest I think the sport is finished as a professional sport in the uk and I don’t know where we go from here 😢4 points

"Devastating news to those few hundred people"... Says it all.... Never more than a tier 2 team at best given their fanbase, yet had to get shoe horned into tier 1... I hope Nigel gets plenty of punters between now and season end, and it offsets at least some of the tremendous costs he has incurred keeping afloat a sport in a town that not enough people could be bothered to watch.. Should get plenty of away fans for their teams' last meeting ever at Perry Barr.4 points

But you call him worse than you know what in every post, maybe try backing him for a change instead of wanting him binned off after every meeting. Maybe he is performing under par but considering the season he had last year with constant injuries I wouldn’t have expected him to come out flying and I think your expectations are probably too high for him these days a good night for him is double figures but 7-8 will probably be the norm once he gets up to speed, Rowe will be your second HL by seasons end with Kerr and Cook behind would be my prediction.3 points

Dan Thompson, so no profile he's not even been nominated for rider of the night when he's clearly been the best rider on view!3 points

How good it is to see the progress of Dan Thompson, way ahead of some of his higher profile contemporaries, has often been overlooked as far as the GB Speedway team goes, more due to his low (no) profile way of going about things.3 points

Hopefully that’s what Lynn fans get great racing on a well prepared track and I’m sure the team will pick up more wins as the season progresses .3 points

The track needed some water on it after heat 8 onwards very dusty indeed. But still, some fantastic racing tonight especially ones involving Jack Holder. Heat 15 was an epic pass on Doyley who shook hands with both Picko and Jack at the end of the race which was all good to see. two good teams going at it, much rather see a close meeting than a 60-30 drubbing. a couple of falls and a couple of engine failures added to the drama. Both will comfortably make the play offs, but Ipswich will definitely be the team to beat due to how good they are round foxhall.3 points

Fair shout but I'm including away matches as well as home. Luke only seems to do well at Scunthorpe saying that he's at a difficult number 2 position granted and hopefully his away points will start to come in when he goes back to reserve shortly2 points

Superb from Howarth and Thompson, but what a joke of a finale; a “super heat”.😂 Massive credit to Boughen. A young boy who’s found himself a victim of his own success in the main body of the team at just 17 years old, but what a performance from him. Classy.2 points

Another very sad day for British speedway. Doesn’t feel like it will be long until this happens to my club too. Heartbreaking for the loyal brummies fans2 points

Jesus, that’s a brutally honest interview from Lambert. I feel sorry for him; blatantly fearing for his job.2 points

Maybe to get a few more punters in between now and closure? "Last chance saloon" and all that ..2 points

Mid May and Top 4 more or less sorted barring injuries or a team pulling a rabbit out the hat of a signing - that’s poor for any sport - makes me wonder the next 3 and half months of league racing going to be like ?2 points

So sorry that the track wasn’t prepared to Bombers liking as a visiting rider. I’m sure Mr Dickson will consult him prior to the next time Bomber is back riding for the Stars and every other team in the league on his returns to the venue. Whilst I’m still a big fan of Bomber and love watching him race, he should be above making comments about track prep criticism for someone of his ability at this stage of his career.2 points

Why wasn’t masters excluded in heat 13. massive decision that2 points

Its not just the West Midlands though Dean. Here In London and the South East. Wimbledon, Hackney, Eastbourne, Canterbury, Crayford, Rye House, Arena Essex all gone. Only Iwade left. The South West. Swindon, Reading, Weymouth, Exeter and Somerset all gone. Plymouth, Poole and Oxford are the only three clubs from that region who are still running. Then you have to travel all the way to Ipswich and Kings Lynn who fortunately are still running, but Peterborough and Mildenhall have gone. This has all happened since the 80s. Very sad, but this must prove, as much as we all love the sport that is not far from dying, certainly as a Professional Sport anyway.1 point

Sad news but expected. Greyhound racing is now a dying sport and the need for housing will always be a priority for any local authority. Speedway will only continue at purpose built tracks soon.1 point

Sad news at a time when the sport in the UK could use some good news. Time riders and those running the sport got real. The ever declining fanbase can't support the running costs at many clubs.1 point

Exactly what are you expecting? If it's 12 points a meeting, that not going to happen imo. He did mess up 2 rides but other 2 were ok I thought. I can't believe Edinburgh's luck though, every time they on a 5-1 and something happened to prevent it. We got very lucky tonight.1 point

Incredible ride from Thompson. 45-45, I’ll take that. Almost as embarrassing as Flint’s performance tonight is the fact we’ll now have a “super heat”. Childish nonsense. Draws happen in sport.1 point

Aces won that at a canter, never looked in any doubt really, Spires had only three heat wins all night if I recall correctly. Heat 2 C Cook and Wright in heats 12 & 15? Janowski & Tungate looking anything but heat leaders in this league, that's Oxford's problem the other 4 experienced riders did adequate (just about) jobs tonight. Kileen had a night to forget. C Cook was passed by Z Cook in heat 14 when he wasn't quick enough to be going wide as there was little dirt on the outside and Lidsey passed TS Kildemand in heat 12 when he was quick enough to go wide and there was a modicum of grip there as the track had just been graded. I think Blodorn must have passed C Cook in one heat but I missed it. Blodorn went backwards in his first to heats and didn't look at all comfortable with the track, especially the exit of turn 4 when there seemed to be build up of loose material in the middle of the track early on. Mulford also made a few decent starts but wasn't quick enough. It got very close between Kildemand & Z Cook in one heat. And that about sums up what racing there was! Bewley & Kurtz were far too quick all night and Aces were gating better. TS was used correctly by Oxford team manager, only thing he could have done really. Crowd seemed a bit lower & fewer visiting spectators than I'd expect, only saw about 6 people in red, back & white on the home straight. Definite blue groove on turn 3, yet got covered in dust while standing on turn 4. Plane sailing all the way home, thought I may get home before 11:00. Then the M6 intervened, which I was only on for about 15 miles, down to a single lane on three occasions! I do wonder how long Zischke will get, it's mid season and he's not scoring well. If Cairns is brought in as Aces RS when he comes of age at the end of June, I still don't see it being enough to better the Witches in the playoffs unless Zischke improves. As for Oxford, something is not right with Janowski and hasn't been for a few years, why a rider of his ability is riding how he is is mystery. I don't recall him having a serious injury. And he's 33, there is noting to him, it can't be an age thing. I have less expectation when it comes to Tungate but I thought he'd score better than he did. So... Why do Oxford fans shout "Come On Dougie" at Tungate or am I hearing it incorrectly? Why is there a statue in the carpark of the Lidl near the stadium. Also.... if the chap with the microphone in the stadium reads this, there is no N in Lidsey and its "ATPI" Aces not "ATP" And finally why does Luke Kileen have a shamrock on his logo.1 point

Heat 6 was a belter, hopefully a video of that’s posted on either Sheffield speedway or British Speedway. Ipswich unlucky when on 5-1 until last bend when Thompson binned it as that was the difference between a win and a loss in the end. Emil and Doyle both looked slow (all race times shockingly slow tonight for all) in majority of their races, Doyle rising like a road block in most of his heats. Ipswich solid but with room for improvement from a few on their next visit definitely. As for Sheffield Holder snr is a worry, no real pace again and looks like he’s coming back from injury rather than a helluva 2024 season, Sedgmen very poor again, you’d think they can’t persevere with him too long before making a change, noticed as well again tonight Flint never ever checks during all 4 laps where his partner is, baulked them in more than one race tonight you’d hope Stead sees that and tries to improve that within his riding Good meeting all in all with a couple of stand out races1 point
