  1. Introducing... Elsie Kew

  2. That’s because we don’t chuck a £10k sign-on fee at them… they’ve ruined the league with their ‘win at all costs’ mentality, other clubs can’t keep up with the money they throw around.

  3. One KO Cup win and one title win in the past ten years suggests other clubs are more than capable of putting together competitive sides to challenge for honours regardless of budget limitations . If there was no points limit and we could sign seven heat leaders then the spoiling the league argument would have more substance

  4. Race nights (prob don't want to race Monday/Thursday)? No local league derbies (nearest opposition Belle Vue, hardly "local")? Happy where they are? Could be a host of reasons. They still have to build a team to whatever the points limit is, no matter what league they are in and it's getting the right riders in, not just the "superstars". Just 'cos they (allegedly) have the cash to throw at it, doesn't mean to say they have to be in the "top" league, racing against teams nowhere near (location wise) costing the fans an absolute fortune to travel away to the same tracks twice. Also they would (probably) increase the admission for home meetings, to see, near enough, the same riders they are seeing now. I think I'd be trusting the promotion on knowing what they are doing, on and off track.

  5. I can't think of anyone in the recent past who has been as articulate and sensible off the track and he is a steady improver on it. If he lacks anything it's just the kind of horse-power that some with less ability and dedication seem to attract. He does a lot of work to promote the Sport too and it's a shame that his spell at Birmingham will now ony be for a season. Credit to the Sport

  6. All 3 leagues wages are capped to a limit, if they get more it’s usually through sponsorship Glasgow Riders get paid in full every Monday after a meeting they have great facility’s plenty track time when wanted that’s a big thing for a rider these days

  7. If Glasgow wants to win the championship they can’t carry a 5.27 point rider which is only dew to his rolling average , he averaging less than 3 at the moment and pretty sure any other team would be looking for a change before his ave drops to just over 3

  8. Smarzlik is a methodical professional rider who will turn out to be the greatest world champion the sport has ever had. It will take something very special to lower his colours. While others try he simply goes about the business of grinding out race wins when it matters and is at the top of his game with little competition. Maybe the format is wrong as you do not see the best riders in the world and until you go back to a series of qualifying rounds with an ultimate final based on the top scorers, it is what it is. Well done to Smarzlik and big thank you to the SGP 3 riders who served up something a bit different and some decent racing. The sport has a future but needs direction.

  9. Different Class is Smarzlik.6 Class rides.

  10. He was on a jump the start bonus only payable by Glasgow.

  11. Are all the what we are paying signing on fee posts above all accurate. I’m going out on a limb here and say it’s opinion rather than fact. what Glasgow do is for the best for Glasgow, what Glasgow pay is what they deem they can pay. Was painful watching Ashton at the first bends shutting off I guess as I don’t have any facts on this like other posters loll that for his own good and the team collective it had to happen. Best off luck to the kid he has talent but needs to get to the root cause of this first bend issue or he isn’t going to succeed at Speedway.

  12. The speed at which this name has appeared has to suggest a deal was done a few days ago, possibly after the under 21 qualifier at Glasgow. Ashton seemed to lose confidence towards the end of last year and has simply not ridden as expected in 2025. Such a shame as he looked fantastic when he burst on to the scene and it’s only to be hoped he finds his motivation again.

  13. Ashton is not a reserve he is a 5.27 rider averaging less than 3 and he was not sacked durning the meeting his dad wanted him pulled out the meeting as his head was not in the right place and the medics would not sign him off so now has a 28 day ban for withholding his services

  15. No disrespect, but it's not the British Final.

  16. Holder passing Huckenbeck in Heat 18 on the last lap and neither of the 2 dribblers in the commentary booth even acknowledge it. Truly brilliant commentary once again.

  19. I posted about Boughen last season, no question the guy has natural talent and is really quick but he has some sort of mental block,at the time people were saying lack of experience and it will come in time but it isn’t, it’s something he needs to work out possibly with a sport psychologist because until he gets over it his career will suffer, it’s not just a issue for him though as we saw last year against Poole when he gated and then shut off causing Zack cook to hit him from behind

  20. McDiarmid not being utilised properly again by the team manager.

  21. Glasgow can only sign 7 riders. They have to conform to the rules in relation to team averages. Once Glasgow has signed these riders and agreed terms with them how does that force other clubs to offer silly money for all other riders in the world? The real issue is the money Poland can offer. Incidentally no one mentions the money that Peter Carr, Freddie Schott, etc were on.

  22. Last season at Poole in the KO cup final he smoked Lawson by 100 metres to win his third ride, but was tailed off in his other three rides, throttling right off as he came to a bend. In the playoff final, it was the same, two tailed off lasts before beating Lawson by a straight. If he gets in front he is very fast. The trouble is he is lacking any nerve to physically mix it if caught in a first bend tussle. Whether he can get over these issues or not will determine whether he has what it takes to become a speedway rider of merit. Certainly has the equipment and raw talent but that alone is not enough when there are riders out there who will make up on a lack of talent by having bigger balls. But there could be more to his issues than that. Why throttle off entering bends throughout a race when there’s no one near him?

  23. Signing Ashton after his performance in the play offs last year was mental. Bottle had gone then. Hope he beats his demons. Remember he is still a young guy.

  24. Nothing wrong with Paisley , some of us have to live there lol

  25. If my club had the financial backing they do then I’d be getting these guys in too. We’ve tried and been told they can’t fit UK into their schedule but now all of sudden they can.

  26. That's not you dropping another jealousy bomb, surely?

  27. There’s no way that points scoring system is plausible.Top 2 to Final ,next 4 run off top2 to Final would have been better.Knowing that 6-7 points in the meeting could get you 20 by winning the meeting is laughable in what is a World Championship. Madsen and Dudek are making them look like even bigger clowns with their Wild card Selections.Kelvin trying to pretend the Stadium was packed to the rafters was also a joke.

  28. I'm sorry, Bartosz is undoubtedly one of the best riders ever, he's got it all, but... I think he's a rubbish world champion
    2 points
  29. They have been advised by discovery to use it much a possible because they think using buzz words like LCQ and P1 is woke and hip, time to worry is when they add + because we all know what that stands for
    2 points
  30. Same crap every year, but this was another level, an embarrassment to speedway.

  31. He's scored big points in lots of meetings there that weren't British Finals (including two SoN's) so a bit of an odd comment.
    2 points
  32. This new format sucks. Top 10 and you can still win. Feel like it favours Bartosz even more. Still not a fan of the points either. There was no need to change it from what it was. What you score should be what you earn on the leaderboard.
    2 points
  33. Can you bet on how many times you hear LCQ mentioned? I'm developing a twitch.

  34. Shhhh Don't tell Bet365. I'm on a good thing here.

  35. Few good races finally, but even Huckenbeck can't lose out if gate 1 and he's been nowhere this year.
    2 points
  36. Gate 1 should have a 15m handicap, otherwise this is silly.

  42. All Clubs live within their means or they would close and Glasgow are no different ok their owners have a very well run business and that’s the way they choose to run their club they also spend a fortune on making their track one of the best race tracks in the country just ask any rider that rides there
    2 points
  43. The track was only unsafe for the engines used today, this is the consequence of years of letting riders and tuners run the sport for the riders and the tuners
    2 points
  44. They were being polite. Be honest if a rider has a choice of riding at a proper speedway track or ......... what do you seriously think they'd do?
    2 points
  45. There needs to be a cap on what clubs are offering these young riders ( wage wise ) as there getting top dollar money but aren't delivering ( some of them ) & yet a rider who's got years of experience behind... Not mentioning any names had to drop out of racing in the NDL as he was only offered a pittance... The speedway game in the UK is dying big time ... & I've supported the sport for over 50 years but it's on the big decline sadly
    2 points
  46. Boughen needs to get back to NDL and learn his trade imo
    2 points
  47. Wait until they are commentating from London for the Belle Vue GPs

  48. The sport is serious decline in UK.Dont know the answer though.Strange decisions seem to being made in the eyes of many supporters, but at the end of the day the Promotions are the ones with the money invested.Sporadic fixture list will kill off the sport.
