It simply shows how speedway has now followed other sports (and perhaps society in general) with attentions spans of a goldfish. The season is in late May - it started in earnest in early to mid April - yet we have constant demands for 'oh this isnt good enough and we demand change' - Change for changes sake often backfires as some football cliubs are finding out! I still find it (insane) that a current up and coming rider won't get a spot - given to an ageing has been - no disrespect to Kennet here but thats what he is! -
Very interesting programme notes from the Witches promotion effectively calling out promoters being 'too willing' in calling off fixtures particuarly if their is just the slighest risk of rain! Its a habit that needs breaking! He also cited the last rain off in the FIM/SGP was in 2021 - just 2 rain offs in 200 meetings!

Enjoyed this, Chris Adams managed his side well given the hand he was dealt with injuries etc, got the most of of a 4 (maybe5) man Foxes side! A bit gate and go however but a few good races and one or two good moves from the home riders. Agree that Kye Thomson is a cracking rider and he mixed it really well. Witches needed more from some riders - both Lawson and TomB didn't do enough tonight for me. It was nice to see Jordan back and I do wonder why he hasn't been given a spot ahead of Kennett - nothing against Kennett but Jenkins did enough for me to think why isn't he in? -

I can recall Klindt beating both Emil and Jason in a heat 13 at Foxhall so hes one to be mindful of! -

Looking forward to my first (live attended) meeting in 2026 - id have thought a routine home win but will be interested to see how the Fixes reserves do as they were bested their counterparts in the Foxes home match! -
I’m here to stay. The Whitelinehugger

It's days like this I miss Lagutaracingfan or whatever he was called - whatever happened to they/them/him 🙃 -
Largely agree with Baldyman here - it’s not often I am surprised by some speedway news but this really is a big one! Didn’t see that coming at all.

Most people that are late to Football matches is because they leave the pub with just five minutes to KO!! Agree its really scraping the barrel of finding something to moan about - I think every speedway match i have attended has had a parade of the riders first unless the prospect of rain has mean't it's been cancelled. Nowadays football matches often end until just before 5pm - in the old days they were done and dusted by 4.45 with perhaps no more than 1-2 minutes extra. -

I would imagine this is actually the refs call not the CEO of the premiership. The referee on arrival is (i believe) responsible for the control and running of the meeting are they not? -

the Grandstand holds about 700? so if thats full thats a decent start at estimating. Agree tho once step towards better professionalisation would be publishing attendances. Can't see it ever happening. -

Congrats to the Foxes - i do hope to make it there myself. For this season they need to focus on winning at home to keep these decent crowds interested. -
Stars vs Witches - 18th May - POSTPONED
GeneralMelchett replied to SuperStarsFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I am old enough to remember a promoter in the late 80s or maybe very eary 90s who threatened to pull the plug cos his proopsed team was 'just' over the points limit! -
Nothing is hidden - perhaps its hiding in plain sight!!
-
try persons with significant control!!! its not difficult to find! Thus far the company has one share which is held by Mark Lemon!
-
was you the rabbit or the Leprechaun?
-
I pondered this and the lack of enthusiasm from the riders to at least give it a go whilst driving back! in the ‘good old days’ riders didn’t have lucrative contacts in other countries so much or a GP series to ride in - maybe those at the top have just got a bit too comfy to risk it if conditions are not exactly to their liking. I personally felt the track looked rideable but I am comparing it to tracks of 20/30 years ago and of course the bikes were different back then - still a bit miffed no one came out to test the track! edit - at no point did I hear the bikes being warmed up either!!!
-
Clearly the Aces are not the draw they think they are on a damp night in zuffolk!
-
Sadly you are correct!
-
To be fair Lemon is hardly likely to say - well actually fellas we just don’t fancy it tonight! the track for me looks ok they are scraping off the inside line sludge so let’s see what happens At least I have a nice big screen to watch!
-
Well enough here but down on usual - with it being on BSN and in view of the weather I expect many decided to stay home!
-
Simon Humphrey-Kennett - me neither!!!
-
Annoying as a perfectly sunny drive up the only damn clouds are over Foxhall! Says it should stop soon!
-
I am about 15 miles south of Ipswich and it’s a nice bright evening now sunshine out etc so it’s probably fair to say the meeting will definitely start! Radar suggests slight chance of rain later but again IMO not enough to stop the meeting!
