  1. Great business by the poles Thursday,Fridays & Sundays all protected for their 8 team league. Goes to show how strong they are & how weak the UK is.
  2. Why are people putting Batch's name & worse still Andersen's name in the frame for next year. Doyle,Riss & Hume plus some eager youngsters who can improve. Basso is definitely in that mold & I hate to say it but a young pole. The most annoying thing is we have had a couple of young riders who should be in the mix for next year Rowe & Kemp but either of them seems to be a massive gamble.
  3. The transfer window should be easy to police. A window opens on November 1st & ,closes no January 1st to allow clubs to sign riders for the up coming season. A second window then opens from July 1st to August 1st to allow for team changes. Unless some form of squad system comes in then injuries are covered as below Injuries are covered with rider replacement or use of you number 8 if under 28 days. If an injury is going to keep a rider out for more than 28 days a long term injury replacement can be signed but has to be on a minimum 2 month contract.
  4. Well at least one promotor can see the wood from the trees. "My winter wish list would be seven strong teams. Don't mess with the rules, a simple clean fixture list that everyone can actually complete & more amiable bikes that can be raced with confidence & give us fans maximum entertainment. Not too much to ask is it?" From Chris Louis' program notes on Thursday.
  5. Sheffield the same team that finished top of the table even though they couldn't couldn't complete there home fixtures? Welcome to.uk speedway
  6. In the interest of Speedway, Bewley signs for Belle Vue & Ipswich made the double signing of Lambert & Zmarkzilk ready for Monday night
  7. To be honest Ipswich looked 'up for it' in the first two heats. After Tungate fell in heat 3 it looked like they dropped back. With the exception of Doyle & Rowe they were a massive disappointment, although I'll cut summers some slack.
  8. Looking at this year's side the Batch gamble didn't pay off & to be honest I think that's down to the way king has gone backwards this year. Batch has upped his average & in all honesty performed to the level expected. No idea what was up with Rowe this year but last night he looked more like the rider he is If Rowe's troubles are behind him I go along the lines of 1 Doyle 2 Basso 3 4 Riss 5 6 Hume 7 Rowe/AN other Although you would need a solid 2nd heat leader
  9. With the news coming out of Swindon I can see Doyle staying put next year. The rest is up in the air, although I have a hunch Basso could be here next year. If Doyle is here could he be the guy to get Kemp firing? Local lad bags of talent but so far a huge disappointment.
  10. Spot on. If the sport had a bigger fan base & a higher profile then some of these tracks wouldn't have closed & there would have been more of a fight to keeps the ones that have opened or relocated elsewhere. When you're a developer who wants to build on a site used by a few hundred people for half a year that are involved in an event that has no profile it's very easy to get what you want.
  11. Must have been some left over brown envelopes from the sky era
  12. Is it the same plan that they submitted about 30 years ago?
  13. I wonder if Louis will take inspiration from the town & come up with a pack out Foxhall deal for the playoffs?
  14. Or the perfect get out of jail card for the management. It means they can jump ship & escape the sinking ship that is UK speedway without appearing to be the bad guys who closed the club.
  15. It's clear the construction of the tyre is to blame as it isn't up to the requirements needed to operate with the current set ups. However you also have to look beyond the tyres. The high reving engines causing more wheel spin puts additional pressure on the tyre construction & more heat though the tyre. The lack of material on the tracks which means that the tyre is running on pretty much the track base which far harder than running on a well prepared shale track. This in turn produces more heat though the tyre which when coupled to point one further increases operating temperatures. The shale is removed from the tracks as the high reving engines are impossible to ride on anything other than ultra slick tracks. The blue groove in reality is caused by the excess heat between tyre & track surface. When you apply excess heat to a surface it generally turns blue. In the engineering world if a set of brake discs or flywheels have a blue surface it's a sign of massive heating. We constantly read about rider safety being paramount & costs being out of control. The question must be is why won't the control board/BSPL do anything about the equipment & why are the riders so dead set against having restrictions that in the end would make the sport safer & at the same time reduce costs?
  16. At least Ipswich are professional, an example of how speedway promotion could be.
  17. I'd say that Ipswich is probably the best supported club in the UK at a Guess an average of about 1500
  18. None of the league's are perfect. However from a credibility point of view out league's are a disaster.
  19. What do you mean? The super heat was by far the best race of the night in terms of passing
