Just an observation/opinion

Trying to decide if Doyle is fast because he is great or is just fast because he has no regard for anybody (including himself)! Think I’m going with the latter, seems to be riding the absolute ragged edge. How Frick stayed on in heat 13 is beyond me

Hadn’t spotted that Lewi had gone to Leicester - can’t be too much bad feeling to go to another Bates owned team. Presume it was part of the plan

Did I hear Tai correctly in saying that one rider had declared that he was taking a week’s holiday (presumably Ellis) and another (presumably Kerr) walked out on Monday which forced the team changes? Some good racing tonight despite the scoreline

Holder has been seen at Owlerton semi-regularly whilst Jack has been riding for us, so may not have ridden the track but has been around enough to pick up some home track knowledge I would expect

Noticed Tai has a Sheffield race suit now, would suggest that he’s staying longer term?

Just seen that Leicester is up for sale - hoping that isn’t a sign that the Bates family want out of speedway

Enjoyed that, some decent racing and a close score line meaning it could go either way until close to the end. Main difference seemed to be that our GP rider turned up and Belle Vue’s didn’t.

Picko came on the mic and confirmed it was the decision of the 14 riders not to continue. Don’t think the promoters have the power to call a meeting once it has started have they?

Actually looked like Doyle realised he wasn’t going to catch Tobi, so tootled around in third until the last bend when he decided that he wanted 2 points rather than 1 paid 2 on his score card

Don’t know but think when Peterborough were looking to sign him he was after silly money apparently.

Tobi’s ride in heat 11 was masterful to keep Bewley behind. Considering the rain and it being the first meeting of the season, very entertaining meeting

Just seen an alert thing on the South Yorkshire Police Facebook page asking if anybody has seen Josh Bates - he has been missing since Thursday. Hope he’s ok

Drew Kemp always seemed to have potential, but has never delivered. One to avoid for us I would say - he has had various chances and not taken them

Seem to think when he rode for us before he was injured for most of the season and so we didn’t see the best of him. Think he had a big crash with Steady from memory

I also remember Stonehewer chasing after somebody with a spade one night

Completely agree - used to love a good scrap after a race, added to the atmosphere! Very very rarely happens anymore

The preview on the Sheffield website states that Holder, Sedgman, Klindt and Pickering are all out of the country with prior commitments
