  1. I agree, totally shambolic. How could the promotion possibly let the stadium owners do work on the stadium that they own and that had nothing to do with the speedway track and, despite not being involved in any way, fail to prevent the workman, who they had no control over, from damaging the track fence, thereby harming their own business. Disgusting behaviour.
  2. Aren’t there normally dogs on a Thursday afternoon as well, so probably not even a full day to try and rectify things. Personally glad to see them call it off at this stage rather than saying nothing, trying to fix it, fail and then call it off late in the day after people have travelled. In terms of people booking travel etc in advance… surely people have been around long enough to know that no speedway meeting in this country is guaranteed. The weather alone puts paid to that. People may have planned to come, but they would be foolish to come on the premise that it was definitely going ahead, There seem to be a lot of people with axes to grind against Sheffield at the moment for no apparent reason. Given the amount of vitriol being thrown at them, you wouldn’t blame the promoters for saying duck it and walking away. The promoters up and down the country plough their own cash into the sport where others either aren’t willing or simply don’t have the cash, and all they get is a load of crap from “supporters” who hide behind keyboards for the most part. Not for one minute suggesting people should put up or shut up, but if somebody started mouthing off at me and demanding that I spend my money on certain things or in a certain way and then criticising me regardless, I would be very swiftly telling them to do one!
  3. Read somewhere that it was the ref who had broken something in the box that killed the tapes
  4. Yes… smoke and mirrors… of course… yawn
  5. Didn’t realise anybody took that chap seriously!?! If you actually read what he says, they haven’t confirmed that there isn’t a curfew at all. He’s just twisted that whichever poor person he had harassed hadn’t provided him with proof it exits… but in all honesty why would they? Sure that they have better things to do than deal with conspiracy theories! It’s not the first time a meeting has had to be abandoned at Owlerton or at other tracks around the country due to a curfew. The last time I remember in Sheffield was against Redcar in 2018 (I think) when Ben Barker had a bad crash. if you read the other comments on Fanpowers’ Facebook page you’ll see various local people confirming that the curfew not only applies to speedway, but also football and the Tramlines gig. if you follow this link - point 12 confirms 10pm as a curfew for all outside events in Sheffield Monday to Saturday. https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/home/business/city-centre-spaces-policy?fbclid=IwAR0eDj82Eex3pN3d65rmZE43YTvG7ggTVh-dIvPyPJcqtDv25EsL9dOo6OQ&fs=e&s=cl You can’t argue with facts.
  6. Went to Leicester last night, Sedgeman was probably the pick of the Birmingham team (granted there wasn’t a lot of competition, but he had his gating gloves on and was mixing it with the Lions at least)
  7. Could one of you local folks tell me if I can pay by card on the gate or if I need cash with me please? TIA
  8. Dominated? They got a 5-1 in heat 15 to take the lead
  9. As you say, a decent starter meeting for the season with some close racing in some of the heats Will be interesting to see how the rest of the Tigers get on next week
  10. So Artem and Emil are banned from the GPs due to being Russian, which means Jack steps up I presume as first reserve. Which is great for him, just hope it doesn’t cock up Sheffield’s season too much with missed meetings
  11. Shame not to see Pickering, but happy with the team
  12. If it’s against the rules, do you not think that Belle Vue, Peterborough or Wolves would perhaps have taken issue with it? Maybe?
  13. Was it my imagination or did Riss look over his shoulder in heat 10, pull off the racing line, let Wright go through and then carry on as if nothing had happened? Didn’t appear to have a problem and Wright wasn’t exactly putting him under pressure. If I was a KL supporter there I would have been fuming Obviously nice to see Sheffield win (can’t remember the last time we hit 60), but King’s Lynn really were woeful.
  14. On the changed track prep - Scotty Nichols commented that the riders had asked for it to be prepared differently, but it hadn’t turned out how they expected. Much is being made of the track surface etc, but it seems the simple fact is that Sheffield rocked up in a fighting mood, with their gating gloves on, and won the meeting.
  15. Feel like the Jack Holder being missing joke is getting a bit old now - save for when he had a pretty horrific looking crash and was injured, how many meetings has he actually missed? One? Think people need to move on with their lives
  16. See Batch topped scored for Kent with 12 again
  17. Maybe he doesn’t want to ride for us again? Did it end on amicable terms?
  18. He appealed, so the sentence was suspended until it had been heard I believe. In true speedway fashion, I imagine that the appeal will be heard in October, the 6 month ban will be upheld which should just about take him up until the new season starts…
  19. Why is Harris at reserve wrong? They built their team to the same points limit as everybody else, but they went for strength in depth rather than a big hitter like Batchelor. The advantage of the Peterborough approach is that you will always have at least one strong reserve. The only reason people are complaining is that it is Chris Harris, former GP rider who is currently occupying that birth - don’t think anything was said about Ulrich being at reserve at the beginning of the season, as it was generally accepted that his average was such that he fitted there
  20. I was saying that he is a regular, or used to be, at Owlerton, so did they employ him or just make use of a famous, popular, former world champion who happened to be there
  21. Is this a memory test? Just the one. Maybe legend was the wrong word - am I allowed to substitute it for popular?
  22. What do you think it means? Or is this a dig at the first word typo?
  23. Not sure if they employed Sam or if he happened to be there - he used to be at Owlerton most weeks. He’s also a legend at Owlerton.
  24. Only surprise was that it took until heat 14 to confirm the win. Don’t want to sound like sour grapes, but I don’t think it’s fair that Peterborough were allowed a better team than us
