Doyle wants Somerset return but......
stevebrum replied to ReadingRacer2017's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes I saw that! We should have protected Monday’s and Thursdays this year when we had the chance! -
So???? Tai and the top boys owe British Speedway nothing. So you want Tai to ride in the UK and earn less money than he can make abroad?? its the system here that’s messed up, not Tai or any of the top boys. The BSPA are happy to alienate Tai (making the then British champ and World champion ride in a British semi final) and they will do exactly the same to Robert. They don’t make it easier for them to ride here, so don’t expect Tai to come rushing back.

Ditto nearly all the top boys.

As regards the length of time took to run the meeting I hear what’s being said however this is no ordinary meeting. handicap racing after the first 4 heats takes more time for the start Marshall’s to keep putting down white lines, announcer/ref/fans to work out which handicap is for each rider so it’s always likely to be a little slower pace. saying that 19 heats in total in 2 hrs 15 mins isn’t too bad.

The more teams the better I’d say. However the 8 team format has worked fine for years in both Sweden and Poland. Be interesting to see how the Swedish league does with 9. Odd that one team will always miss out on a Tuesday. -

You don’t need 10. Poland and Sweden both have 8 team leagues and are the most successful countries league racing wise. -

Makes more sense however attendance and profitability is always the issue in the past when they have run at a higher level. Cant see what’s different this time then. -

Steve, don’t make yourself look silly. I congratulated Poole on the victory when it happened. would you like to apologise now or shall I show you up with the quote? Choice is yours. edit.. it’s on page 23 of the 2nd leg thread. Even liked by you. Think before you accuse someone of false information in future. An apology will suffice tho. -

Congratulations to the Rebels. Well deserved. Have to feel some sympathy for Stars fans who were the best team over the full season. -
More like it’s a shame there aren’t more options to use from for guesting, On paper Howarth for MPT was at least a like for like but Iversen on that average was irreplaceable. No disrespect intended on Ellis but he could never have been expected to remotely equal what Iversen would have likely scored.

Wild Cards 2019
stevebrum replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
As we now know the picks they would have never given Smektala the replacement place for Pawlicki as too many Poles. Personally I think the picks are fine, likewise I’d rather have had Lambert in. -

Pretty much agree that those are who I expect. Smektala has no chance given that Dudek is already a given, Madsen deserves a pick as best rider outside of GP this year but will probably be ignored again and whilst I’d love to see Lambert in I think Zagar will get in ahead of any other options including Fricke. -
Fair points. Of course injuries can and have wrecked seasons prior to the play offs as well. I get the facts that some feel that the team that tops the table over a full season deserve to be champions as well. However let’s not forget that there were several seasons when meaningless matches took place when teams had nothing to race for other than pride prior to the play offs as well. swings and roundabouts on which is better I guess.
