Home win, another pointless away trip for Wolves methinks. -
Poole v Somerset. prem B 27/8/18 12.30pm.
stevebrum replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
In truth many have known the Poole track has been pretty poor for several years now and despite the protest of some it always lets them down. Dont get me wrong, I’ve rated Poole as one of my favourite tracks to visit over the years but it is bordering on dangerous these days. The bumps and holes are shocking. Several British tracks have a poor track record when it comes to their racetrack so Poole aren’t on their own. -

No worries. you can have a guest for your number one anyway. Rory is for Wolves. You can also have a guest for your higher averaged rider if 2 riders are missing. Rr for the 2nd rider. -

Your allowed a guest for your top averaged rider and rr for one below at ANY time in the season. Wolves did exactly the same last season in the play offs with Fred and Jacob out thru injury. The rules are clear on injury replacements. Hope that explains it for you. -

Not the same in the slightest. We are always pants at the NSS so we never stood a chance. How a 6 man team can’t beat a 5 man team (given the 2 missing were from the top 5) is beyond me. Gotta agree on winning the league comment. Bewley completely irreplaceable. -

There isn’t a 10pm curfew at Wolves. Simples. -

How did 5 man Wolves beat the Aces? Great comeback from the boys. The Aces won’t be a threat in the play offs on this evidence. lets hope Rory and Kyle are ok. Been a tough bank holiday for bad crashes. -

Despite RR I think the Aces too strong at home, maybe closer at Monmore tho now with a narrow home win 47-43. -

The ruling can be very clear tho. A season ending injury means just that. It’s very clear. A season ending injury cannot or should be applied to a rider that is riding in another country. That by it’s own definition is not season ending injury! If a rider was to make a comeback in another country the club should lose the replacement facility. Pretty clear and transparent to me. -

Didn’t think it had been changed. Thanks for clarifying. Why? Wolves didn’t last year when they had both top 2 riders injured after the cut off. Absolutely agree WG. I don’t see an issue with being able to replace an injured rider after the August cut off date. And when I see injured I mean season ending. Not able to ride in one country and not another. Nobody could argue the injuries to Dan this year and to Freddie and Jacob last weren’t or aren’t season ending. Dan is totally irreplaceable in his position in the team. Rotten luck but one I hope Dan is able to come back strong from. -

Firstly can only echo the sentiments that a speedy recovery for Dan and if it is a broken leg that he can come back strong when fit. One of the most naturally gifted riders we have had since Woffy. as for an injury replacement for Dan I can’t see how it can be allowed. Poole in 2016 and Wolves in 2017 had dreadful luck with key riders injured that ruined any potential chances of a title bid, particularly Wolves last season. No it isn’t fair but thems the rules. Most importantly tho is the health of Dan at this time. -
Gorzow GP. Saturday August 25th 2018
stevebrum replied to STEPHEN 333's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
On the whole a very mediocre race meeting so far. Granted it’s got better in the 2nd half but not a huge amount of passing. fastest wins, by a mile. Gotta feel for Fast Freddie tho, picking up an injury just before a GP. I hope he can hold on to a top 3 spot this year. He fully deserves it. -

Bye bye Wolves. Toothless so far. Another team to discount out the top 4. -
It’s all about preference anyway. As none of this is relevant to the thread there is no point in continuing.

I’ve already given credit STR as I said Josh is having a good season in the 2nd tier. ive already disproved your home advantage theory so dress it up all you want, Kyle is a proven top flight second string more than capable of scoring home or away. His home and away averages already show that. I think riders that ‘despise’ going to Wolves are very much in the minority. Very few are vocal of disliking the track other than the obvious ones. Most riders generally like Wolves and as we have lost at home this season isn’t the massive advantage some like to paint. Howarth has had an injury hit season so making no excuses for him this season. It’s what he does at this level is the only valid argument that’s applicable.
-
How is it knocking him? Howarth has been ahead of Auty in the 2nd tier the past 2 seasons. Howarth has had a much tougher season all round this season. I am talking only about the top flight. Howarth is now a proven 2nd string at that level. The ‘massive home track advantage’ argument I see popped up again. Last year Kyles home and away average were pretty similar so that completely disregards that point of view. BTW. You seem happy to point out Kyle’s flaws but it’s knocking a rider when I point it out? I have no problem with Auty. If pointing out his inability to make it in the top flight is ‘having a problem’ then there is no hope of having a sensible discussion. Already said he is a fairly decent 2nd tier rider and is having a much better season at that level this year. Take a look at his current 2018 top flight average and his top flight career if you really want to make a sensible discussion of ur. Plus the Auty is better than Howarth argument offered by some is beyond childish (not your comment) but one I’ve read from others several times on here over the years.
-
Surprised to see Auty have a decent top flight score. His real average up to that point was under 3 (according to speedway star) so this pretty much must have been a one off. his top flight career has generally always been beyond mediocre. Entertainer and fairly decent 2nd tier rider at best.

Somerset v Poole Prem B. 20/8/18
stevebrum replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I thought the meeting at Somerset was a decent one to watch on the box. OK, it wasn’t a pass galore fest but the majority of the races were close with all 4 in contention. After the dire fest of the vast majority of meetings on BT before this has to rank as one of the best so far which perhaps says more about the rest. Somerset is generally one of the better racetracks in the country and always happy to visit when visiting family. Fair play to Garry May for admitting they prepared the track to stop Poole, nothing wrong in that and the racing was generally good. -
Let’s face it he has most definitely put himself in the shop window for a top flight place next year depending on rules and regulations. My opinion, for what it is worth, is he has outgrown the NL and is now too good for it and staying with it next season will only halt his progress. Tom has progressed a lot this year and looks much more assured and confident in his ability. For me he should be aiming at top 2 leagues next year, and hopefully the 2 leagues stay in place for this very reason. Think most Wolves fans would be happy to see him snapped up for 2019, no doubt they won’t be the only club interested.
