Aces Last Stand - Monmore Green 31/8
Aces51 replied to T.N.T.'s topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That helps to cover for Zagar, Harris usually does well at Monmore. I doubt there was ever any problem with Aces riders guesting for Coventry, if rumours were correct in was only for their rivals to get into the play offs. -
I'd guess it will depend on where Scott wants to be. At Coventry, who have preferred to sign other riders over the last few years or, at Belle Vue as captain of the world famous Belle Vue Aces racing in a new 21st century stadium. More seriously, it's difficult to tell, riders will say good things about their current promotion but he seems genuinely happy at Belle Vue and is certainly appreciated by the management and the fans.

Belle Vue, Kings Lynn Or Swindon For 3rd/4th Spot
Aces51 replied to Trevor's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Of course you could equally say that if it wasn't for some of his outstanding performances we wouldn't even be in with a chance of the play offs. It is more realistic to assess his performance when you have actually been there and seen the effort he puts in. Just a minor example but anyone who saw him run onto the track to try to get Cook going when he was excluded for exceeding the 2 minutes in the Swindon match could see clearly his commitment to the Aces. -

Definitely weakened without Zagar but still think we're going to do it and get the win. Do we know for certain that Grajczonek is going to ride? He's at Peterborough with a 3pm start so should be ok. -
An update on Zagar's injuries. Doesn't sound as if he will be fit for Wolves tomorrow. http://www.bellevueaces.co/newsitem.aspx?id=1515

It was obvious he was in some discomfort last night, you could see it when he was choosing his gates for the semi and final. As most of us know, after relatively minor bangs and falls it is usually the next day that you feel the full affects and Matej's crash was not minor. Harris should be ok as a guest. I'm more concerned about the loss of Steve Worrall and track specialist Garrity guesting for Auty. However, if Nicholls and Cook ride as they did on Monday we should be ok. The points difference at reserve could keep the scores close.

Belle Vue, Kings Lynn Or Swindon For 3rd/4th Spot
Aces51 replied to Trevor's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Could be and most likely will be although a Swindon win at King's Lynn could rekindle our play off chances. At the moment no mention of a farewell to Kirky Lane meeting and difficult to see what type of meeting would draw a sufficient number of fans. Many will just be pleased to see the back of it. -
It's obviously a mistake, unless someone told the BSPA he is signing for Poole next year.

King's Lynn V Swindon 9th Sept 19.45
Aces51 replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I assume that the Aces are not prepared to allow their riders to guest for their play off rivals. Obviously, the sense of that decision is to prevent a farcical situation where a Belle Vue rider could be responsible for knocking them out of the play offs. That would therefore not include Poole or Coventry, who are already certain of the play offs. My guess is that they might allow someone to guest, say for Swindon, if Belle Vue couldn't now catch Swindon so they are no longer rivals for the play offs. -
Coventry V Swindon - 21/08/2015
Aces51 replied to Grachan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
By this time next week you'll know if changes are in the pipeline. As others have said, the club are not going to say anything until any change is signed and sealed. However, none of that excuses the silence from the club yesterday. Even a press release that they were struggling to get adequate replacements would have sufficed. It really does give the impression that they have no regard whatsoever for the fans. It may be that they think that disclosing they are putting out a below par team may affect the crowd numbers. I can assure them that finding that out at the stadium has a much greater long term affect. None of us like to feel we have been conned, particularly by those to whom we give our hard earned cash and support. It's time that all clubs realised that treating supporters as if they are of no consequence is as mad as burning £20 notes. -
The car park and local roads were dry and the track looked fine until the rain started. Nothing you can do even with track covers if it rains just before the meeting start time.

Possibly because we'd beat them again over two legs. -
King's Lynn V Coventry Wed 19th August
Aces51 replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Swindon are not as strong as some think. When they have raced decent sides away they have not done well. They lost at Poole and never looked like winning last night. They were lucky to get a point mainly due to Zagar's withdrawal and the rerun of of heat 13. -

Nothing wrong with him just that Belle Vue's reserves are riding well at the moment, particularly at home. Nielsen has improved dramatically with the help he is receiving from Mark Lemon and his team mates. The just over £1000 collected for him by the fans has probably also helped. -
Belle Vue -v- Swindon Monday 17th August
Aces51 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Cook was excluded and a reserve put in to replace him.The fact that whoever, including the referee, thought he could be replaced confirmed his match was over, so why shouldn't he go and get showered. The race was even started with Worrall but had to be rerun and it was only then that the question arose as to whether Cook had to have a third ride. In those circumstances he had to be given time. Certainly Belle Vue wouldn't have raised it and obviously the ref was unaware so my guess is that it was Rosco who raised the issue of Cook needing a third ride, thinking Wight would beat him given a 15 metre start and Cook's poor performance up to that point. Unfortunately, it backfired and so instead of accepting it in good grace he feels peeved. -

To add to my previous comments. Ward was brilliant,a joy to watch. Surprised that no-one has mentioned the number of Swindon riders rolling. Not unusual these days but can't remember so many trying it on from one team. Quite a few races called back and the ref had to speak to Rosco. For the Aces, a solid team performance with special mention to Stefan Nielsen, he has improved tremendously this year. -

Aces51 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I didn't think the Aces ever looked in danger of losing and Swindon were lucky to gain a point. The injury to Zagar and the rerun of heat 13 enabled Swindon to get within 6 points of the Aces at the end. According to the announcement at the track the ref could have called heat 13 even though the chequered flag was waved after 3 laps, albeit Ward didn't continue racing for the final lap and Nielsen was too far behind to make a difference. Ward was making no impression on Nicholls, who was second, so to call it as a 2-4 seemed the sensible course. Of course the rerun was a 1-5. So far as heat 14, I thought a tape exclusion counted as a ride but I must be wrong. In any event, Cook made light of the 15 metre handicap and won. Overall, some good races but not many. However, the atmosphere was electric and that together with some of the weird goings on in heats 13 and 14 made it an enjoyable night. It's a shame to read Rosco's comments. Sounds like a bad loser. -

No problem with bringing in Summers providing all of the correct procedures have been followed. I assume Belle Vue were notified at the appropriate time. Potentially a difficult match but think the Aces will do it and send the Robins away pointless. -

You're happy, she's happy, what's the problem and what has it got to do with someone who doesn't know you or your dog. Dogs are intelligent and if she felt scared or frightened you would have to drag her into the stadium. Just watch the reaction of many dogs as they get close to a vets surgery. -
Swindon's New Stadium
Aces51 replied to remembertheracers's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Simple really. There's more money in greyhounds than speedway and not many, if any, promoters with the skills required to achieve what Gordon and Morton have at Belle Vue. Generally, I prefer racing on the bigger tracks but not all produce decent racing. Wasn't the recent televised match at Lakeside one of the better matches on TV this year. -
Swindon's New Stadium
Aces51 replied to remembertheracers's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes, they did. Chris Morton has always said the track was the most important part of the project. Unfortunately, Swindon will have to take whatever their landlord provides but having said that smaller tracks can produce good racing, look at Wolverhampton and even Kirky Lane since Colin Meredith took over. -
Swindon's New Stadium
Aces51 replied to remembertheracers's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The size and shape of a track is obviously governed by the size of the stadium. Most speedway promoters are tenants,as Swindon will be in their new home, so they have to work within the confines and restrictions provided by their landlords. It is unrealistic to criticise them when they are not in a position to do anything about it. Belle Vue have been fortunate to design a track and build a stadium around it. Their only confines are the size of the building plot. -
Belle Vue, Kings Lynn Or Swindon For 3rd/4th Spot
Aces51 replied to Trevor's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Belle Vue not allowing riders to guest for play off rivals gives some much needed credibility to the sport. What would be the reaction from Swindon fans if Belle Vue used one of their riders at Wolverhampton and it was the performance of that rider that resulted in BV picking up 4 points that knocked Swindon out of the play offs. It would be branded as farcical. -
Swindon's New Stadium
Aces51 replied to remembertheracers's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Good to hear some positive news so let's hope next season we have two new stadiums to help take the sport into the 21st century. I don't think it is realistic to compare it with Belle Vue or Leicester. Swindon are going to be tenants so not really in the same position as Belle Vue to have the same level of involvement and influence on the progress of the construction and Leicester was a much smaller project. -
Poole Pirates Vs Belle Vue Aces 12/08/15
Aces51 replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Congratulations to Poole, they are a strong side at home. No real consolation for the Aces, the only positives are that we again beat Poole on aggregate, just and we did better than Swindon managed on their trip to Dorset.
