Fixed race nights... early indications!!!
Daniel Smith replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Regardless of opinion, that just isn't possible and against FIM rule. Simple as that. British Speedway cannot force any rider to prioritise. Get called up by Swedish, Danish, Polish leagues on their race day's British clubs have no choice but to release the rider. You can't just make up some nonsensical idea and disregard regulations. All that will happen is rider's will sign British contracts, get race sharp, sign secret contracts abroad and when the seasons kick off abroad in May throw British Speedway into a frenzy. -

So, you basically saying f-off FIM nobody is taking priority over British Speedway? With Sweden given priority on Tuesday, Denmark Wednesday and Poland Friday, Saturday and Sunday how is your little plan gonna stand up??? Where do you stand with Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley likely to get Ekstraliga contracts next season? You want them banned right??? You want rid of Brady Kurtz, Jack Holder, Max Frick, etc just because they have Ekstraliga jobs. You'd ban rider's for signing with Polish Liga 1 and 2 teams?? The FIM have implemented priority race days for a reason, British Speedway doesn't get any for weekend days so we have to work with what we've got. We're not in a position or have enough rider's available to force total 100% commitment to UK fixtures except for Monday and Thursday fixtures. You throw in a 100% commitment rule there will be far more teams fold than continuing with fixed race night's. -

Bring in fixed race night's Monday, Thursday & Friday. Premiership takes rider priority over Championship fixtures. Rider's racing in Polish Ekstraliga on Friday fixtures are granted a facility. Monday - Wolverhampton Thursday - King's Lynn, Poole (Swindon) Friday - Belle Vue, Somerset, Leicester (Rye House) Questions remain over Rye House and Swindon's future. Other clubs may want to step up. If neither come to tapes in 2019 it will be 1 big league, home and away twice, no cup matches. The fixed race night's can still come into play as weekend fixtures are getting less in the Championship. -
We'll get into a situation where Rye House moves to a Saturday but the away clubs refuse to reschedule the fixtures. Same if Belle Vue go Friday's, clubs will refuse to move their original dates. With Denmark, Poland and SEC, GP practice running Friday's, Poland, SEC, SGP Saturday's a change to the calendar now is pretty much a no go.

guess you haven't checked out the averages before posting that garbage

I'm gonna defend the BSPA a bit. Yes they are a p!$$ poor organisation but the issue has to be with the naivety of Rye's promoters. Us fans have been screaming for fixed race night's for years. Now we've got them there is always going to be teething problems. In hindsight we should have gone with 3 night's rather than the 2. I think we should stick with fixed race night's and add the Friday to it. Belle Vue and Somerset would obviously prefer. Hopefully Rye House can return in 2019 and go with Friday too. Maybe we can increase the size of the Premiership and include Sheffield and Ipswich to the league. With such a change thing's have to be tried and tested. 2018 has failed, hopefully 2019 will be a progressive season.

I don't think even Shovlar could be that cruel to post it if he wasn't certain.

I wouldn't say so, equalled out by having Covatti at reserve -

Good result and Iversen back in the big points. A recovery from losing at home and negates Somerset's win. Just need Kerr to get going again -
Somerset v King's Lynn 25/06/18
Daniel Smith replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Even me, Mr Negative thinks King's Lynn will win this with ease. Apart from Doyle the Somerset line-up ain't good enough to wipe the backsides of the Stars team. 40-50 -
The money from sponsorship today's if far greater. Stadium sponsors from Adrian Flux and club sponsorship with Tru Plant. These names far outstrip those names that have gone before. I would say that King's Lynn could survive with half the crowds with those names backing them up. At the end of the day, sponsorship always comes to an end, fans are for life. When we feel we don't matter we won't turn up. King's Lynn will reap what they sow. They certainly ain't sowing the seeds of supporters. If that continues it's obvious what happens at the end.

The continuing decline of Speedway
Daniel Smith replied to wealdstone's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Jonathan wasn't to everyone's cup of tea, but he did always put himself on the front line and stood up to every bullet fired on this forum. Always posted press releases, team changes etc very pronto. He did all the same when on social media too, Twitter and Facebook. Always answered questions, even the questionable moments regarding postponement with opposition fans. Lots of people didn't like him but was very approachable and got things done. While stadium improvements are continuing and the new scoreboard is an excellent edition the sound system has seriously been neglected. -

Feedback Us disgruntled Stars fans are facing stadium expulsion if we don't tow the party line. Anything slightly negative (social media especially) you get blocked automatically. Promoters of British Speedway are only interested in their butt holes being tickled. -
Clubs are in a vicious circle now. They're getting sponsors from TV air time but no money from TV. lose TV they'll lose sponsors. British Speedway has got itself between a rock and a hard place. Because of the above the focus on the bread and butter (the fans) is being neglected. Clubs now run on sponsorship, fans are now the extra revenue whereas years gone by the fans were priority. This isn't going to change any time soon. That's the reality.
-
At the same time, just imagine how sad and upset you'll feel if the club closes because of the ever dwindling crowds. Just think about that for a moment and who would you blame? Remember the feelings of a few years ago when the club closed for a year and couldn't see a way back?? While we're all disappearing and no replacements filling our spots in the stand as you look around. Who will YOU blame?!?

Race Nights - What do you think so far?
Daniel Smith replied to Trevor's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
You keep saying the sports not credible because rider's ride in the Premiership and Championship. How is it different from riding all over Europe?? If British Speedway can get the race night's right doubling up/down doesn't discredit the sport at all. There's no rivalry between clubs in each league. Every club and fans have their rider's to support etc. To make a living, at the very least, British rider's should be allowed to race in both the Premiership and Championship. Sweden has doubling up/down without it being discredited by fans, it should be no different here apart from the BSPA/SCB getting it all wrong. -
While you are correct this isn't like you, usually pretty positive and tell me to wind it in?!? What's hit your nerve??
-
We've seen what Buster thinks of fans already with his appalling behaviour towards the NSSC a few weeks back. Even getting a lackey to cancel the appointment by phone with no reason or apology.
-
One of the biggest gripes of the fans is the clubs lack of communication building up to meetings. This still hasn't been corrected. Conference at the end of meetings is all well and good but most don't want to hang around with work / school the next day. As what Robin Brundle has added, that should be seen in results but we sit bottom, 6 points of top 4 with no meetings in hand on 4th. Also we haven't had a full 7 for weeks so all this training lark is pointless and a nonsense. We know how strong we can perform with our full 1-7. The question remains on how often will they all ride together? The club needs to stop the lies that Denmark won't interfere. Just be straight up and honest about the challenges ahead with the supporters. Should never promise that rider's won't be missing any more meetings, that's just nonsense.
