Encouraging Young People To Become Fans!
Daniel Smith replied to Trees's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I go with my 2 nephew's and they absolutely love the racing, they absolutely hate the bits in between. Meetings need to be sped up off track. 2 mins on, race, cruise lap, as soon as the 4 riders enter the pits, 2 mins on and repeat. Make it a regulation that track grading can only happen after every 3 heats unless the meeting referee deems the track unsafe. Us older folk may like a chat between races but the future generations need instant entertainment so we need to move the sport forward and stop fookin about and get on with it. Barring incidents and injuries, no meeting should see past 1hr 30mins -
Let's play a little game. Q1, Your favorite decade of speedway? (example 1971-80, 81-90 etc) A1, 1991-2000 Q2, Your age now in decade (example 11-20 yrs old, 21-30 etc) A2, 31-40

Danish Gp 28/6
Daniel Smith replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Love the GP system. Very rarely is there a heat that's a dead rubber. Every GP the points accumulate to who is eventually World Champion. In a single GP the first 5 heats are qualifiers to make the semi's. It gives rider's that ain't gonna be World Champion to claim an individual meeting title. Individual titles also give rider's the chance of getting pick of they finish outside the top 8 and fail the GP Challenge. Excluding Harris, there's something in the GP series for 15 other riders and that can only be a good thing. -
Belle Vue National Stadium
Daniel Smith replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Right, this has become very confusing. Is it FIM standard or Elite League standard??? If it isn't the former then it can't hold FIM events and shouldn't be names the National Stadium. Straight answers required, WTF is going on?!?!? -
If they're not willing then go knocking on Sheffield's, Peterborough's and Somerset's door and bring a couple of cracking tracks into the EL. My biggest bugbear isn't the standard of rider's but for the top British League is the number of crap prepared tracks and crap tracks to watch Speedway in general. This has contributed more IMO than having lost world class rider's. There are 10 teams in this league yet, Lakeside, Leicester, Eastbourne, Poole, Belle Vue are absolutely terrible. Swindon, Coventry needs minor changes (although the latter has improved apparently in recent weeks) Wolves, King's Lynn and Birmingham are the best prepared to give racing a chance. Bringing back the top rider's doesn't increase the standard of racing. To bring people back, they couldn't give a sh!yte what names are on the score sheets. They wouldn't know who they are, even the World Champion. If track standards increase, the racing standards increase, the more people wax lyrical about the standard of racing (hence more value for money) the more people want to check it out. It is very very simple.

I was gonna say I don't like dogs but did get married 7 years ago Watched the programme twice now. Was there a down side to the Life Of Tai??? Absolutely not and what came across to me is he's a very proud Brit. But the real hero in this is his mum. A proper caring parent that has back her boy at the toughest possible moment.

All I will add before going through that thread is all the fears have been laid to bed. Rider's and engine tuners have it nailed after a few years. No crashes or mechanical issues are related to the silencers at all. What we don't know is, are rider's still attacking these with drills? The reason I ask is that Eddie Kennett's form has picked up again

Daniel Smith replied to oldtimer's topic in International World of Speedway
To be fair to Jack, he would call the rider's, helmet colours etc correct then get shot down by the expert Sudden Sam and his bloody CandySoft garbage only to realise he was right in the first place after reading the information that appeared on the televised screen. He just lost his train of thought as he had no idea what Sam was talking about. I've been around Speedway for years and he confuses me, let alone someone that doesn't have a scooby -
If I was Chris I would't listen to you either
-
What do you need SCB for he'd only say it's a pathetic statement and he'd be 100% correct. They do it for their own pleasure and enjoyment and earn a good living doing what they love. The only bit they do for us supporters is maybe one of their show off wheelies. Then again, that may be an ego massage exercise. Apart from the odd autograph and chat during meetings there's not a lot else for the fans

I fully understood what you meant and my post wasn't meant to suggest that so apologise but I was just adding to why I think he was getting bashed. IMO it's down to the quality of the racing. When is good you don't really hear the commentators. Have you ever viewed a 'Nigel Pearson - Kelvin Tatum' thread? To be honest, it doesn't matter who does the comms they're gonna get battered by the anoraks. You did the Premier Sports comms?!?! on the Swedish Elitserien last season (I think) and some wasn't to pleasant towards that comms either. Some just can't get by in life unless there's something to complain about. -

Crap at his job is harsh, he's very good when it comes to motorcycle racing and very new to modern speedway. It takes an age to understand our sport. I got use to Jack and I'm disappointed he's gone, not just laugh at him. IMO the biggest issue as to why Jack Burnacle has been getting ripped to shreds is the fact that the speedway itself has been absolutely garbage. After being told that the Swedish Elitserien knocks spots off the British Elite League, well I'm still waiting to see it because so far it's about the same. -
No don't. I'd love to see chanting back at speedway but it needs to be modern. Listen to the Polish Speedway & football etc. Please not this 1-2-3-4 crap

Woffinden Harris King Cook Take the GB under-21's also Howarth Ellis Garrity Lambert Then at least they'll get to rip round on practice days (providing we get past King's Lynn). We need to start looking forward much earlier rather than keep going back to rider's that year on year go no further forward only backwards
-
Certainly looks like Watt ran himself out of room carrying to much speed into the bend. Smolinski not at fault at all
-
You're right, it is far fetched but I'm just stating we can not have referees throwing riders out for dangerous riding. It's a tough call to say whether there is intent or not. That call can only be judged by a panel imo
-
The card system is a great idea but- To do this every track has to have TV replays available at all tracks. We can't rely on referees making correct calls. At the meeting's referees can only issue yellow cards. If a rider receives 2 or more yellow cards then the video evidence is sent to an independent panel to review (a little like F1). If the panel deem the rider dangerous they're issued a red card and suspended for 3 matches. Clubs that have a suspended rider can only use a guest with a 20% lower average. 3 red cards in a season under 1 organisation i.e. SGP, SEC, British, Swedish, Polish league etc would result in a 6 month Worldwide suspension. Meeting referees can only issue red cards for violent conduct. I repeat though, this can only be achieved with full meeting recordings, not just some dude with a camcorder and an independent panel

Swedish Elitserien 2014, Round 7
Daniel Smith replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
We're constantly reminded how much better the Swedish Elitserien is compared to the British Elite League. The TV meetings have suggested otherwise so far this season. -

People moan about the meetings on SkySports but bloody hell, this is dross so far. Will stick with it though just to annoy the wife -

Nicki Pedersen. Mbe ?
Daniel Smith replied to Super Blue's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Think that's a bit harsh to put all the blame on Pedersen for that. He gets a bit shove from the inside which forced him high and wide leaving Emil nowhere to go. Unintentional incident
