  1. A very difficult subject this one. There are posters that are very good a drawing people in without being abusive but knowing full well that the replies will be. To me, these posters need an element of control too. But, to be fair I would say most of the language is used as banner between posters (Which I think it's what SCB was referring to when he mentioned Stevebrum) and I'm absolutely fine with that. I would say on the whole that this forum is one of the friendliest around, especially as a sport forum and most mods do a very good job at monitoring. Certainly don't need poster being banned for minor infringements
  2. I think people are confused by what's sport and what's not. Speedway today is definitely sport and a far more professional sport than it's ever been. With all the riders far more dedicated than ever before. There's so much placed on winning races, winning meetings, winning trophies. Years gone by it was definitely entertainment. I think there was certainly more riders from years gone by that wanted to be wheel to wheel with the opposition. Today it's about being out the gate first and not wanting anyone near them. It's all about opinion though, certainly no hard and fast rule to defining sport and entertainment.
  3. If only depression worked like that. Unfortunately depending on the issues race wins are irrelevant, he has to be in the right place personally. Despression, regardless of severity is a life long battle but once you get help the first time it makes it easier to understand and deal with in the future as you'll seek help far quicker. Depression still today is seen as a joke, regularly told to 'just snap out of it', 'grow up you're not a child now' etc. Our little brains are delicate pieces of equipment, look after em' folks
  4. What's oh dear about it? I probably didn't make myself clear enough. League to league the EL has the highest percentage of absolutely abysmal speedway tracks made even worse by the lose of Peterborough. That's all I meant. With only Wolverhampton, King's Lynn and Birmingham The stand out tracks. The Premier League offers a better racing selection in now Peterborough plus Somerset, Sheffield, Berwick, Scunthorpe, Workington occasionally, Ipswich. There's far more entertainment on offer in the Premier League is all I was trying to get across. Wasn't intended as a my league is better than yours because on the whole, the PL wins hands down and I miss it at King's Lynn
  5. That's very true but it's the pick of the meetings. Shyte like Lakeside, Eastbourne etc shouldn't get airtime. PL meetings are picked more wisely with Somerset, Scunthorpe and tonight Peterborough which are guaranteed racers circuits. If the likes of Glasgow, Plymouth and Redcar got some airtime it would be the usual dross I'm sure
  6. Call me soft or whatever I believe it's a very brave thing for Bridger to admit on social media that he's suffering from depression. Those that have suffered before will know how serious this can be and shouldn't be seen as a laughing matter. Fingers firmly crossed for the lad
  7. I thought the same but I was corrected that all riders fee's and expenses are paid by the club they ride for only now and it's been like that for a while in all leagues apparently
  8. This thread has turned a little nasty. Scunthorpe & King's Lynn can do as they see fit. The NL should be predominantly a development league and is treated as such by most teams who are running 2-3 league teams. There is a place in this league for all riders of all abilities of all ages. It's about getting the mix right All the Scunny rider's deserve a place but maybe not all together in the same team. Cockle, Mallett and Campos all deserve the right to race NL. There's still time for them to make good PL rider's or just to race for fun in the NL. There are 4 stages of British League racing and whichever rider fit whichever level good luck to them
  9. That would have been financial suicide with regards to all the other riders in the series. All hell would have broke loose
  10. Absolutely, great read. The piece I highlighted I believe is relevant to talk about. It's not just the Iversen's and Ward's I'm concerned about but the likes of the Cook's, Harris's, Schlein's etc. These might be the guys looking for more dough for less points. 2015 AGM could be busy
  11. Here's NKI's latest edition to 'Inside Track' http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/kings-lynn-stars/inside_track_2014_world_number_three_niels_kristian_iversen_s_weekly_look_inside_the_norfolk_arena_1_3573125 The piece from this that caught my attention when talking about the new race format. Just from this, I can see it collapsing after the 1st year. Iversen says:- "All I know, for me, is that riding against better riders every week isn’t a bad thing. But you do have days when you don’t have such a good meeting. And these days when that happens you’re really going to feel it. I felt it last week against Belle Vue. It didn’t really happen for me and it’s probably the first meeting since I’ve ridden for Lynn (fourth season) that I haven’t won a race at home in a match.Last season I’d have picked something up and when you’re paid-per-point, you want to be getting as many points as you can. Had we been aware of the race format when we were signing contracts, heat leaders would have probably taken that into consideration." I can only see a further driving up of Heatleader wages which counteract the cost savings of draft riders for 2015 just from that. Opinions???
  12. Which is the best track you have been to? King's Lynn / Peterborough Which is the worst track you have been to? Lakeside Which has the best food you have tasted? Mildenhall (their fish n chips knocked spots off anything Rye House ever dished up) Which has the worst food you have tasted? Rye House ( Some reason their fans loved them. They need to get out more) In terms of facility's ie toilets, seating, access which is the best place you have visited and worst? Best was Sheffield but not sure now mind, not been for a while. Worst - Rye House
  13. I think joke is a bit harsh but I have no intention of watching them at all this year, just nothing to look forward to in terms of development. With the Young Stars being our 'reserve' team it should be about finding riders for the future just like what Scunny are doing with the help from Matt Ford / Poole. I'm concerned that we've allowed Ford to move one step ahead yet again. I should imagine that Scunny have set up the way that have down to Ford's investment as he'll be looking for future rider. Stags - Scorps - Pirates. Always one step ahead of the game and this is what King's Lynn / Buster should be doing. National League = look to the future - not the past
  14. That's well harsh. Stoke needs new investors, nobody wants to see any club lost
  15. Regardless of other projects within the stadium the report states the full £5.25m has to be paid back within 24yrs. That is a staggering £18,229 per month, £4,207 per week. Wow Trying to be a realist here and to just say "don't worry about the numbers" is outrageous. People are calling us jealous but I think what you'll find is there's more concern and realistic fear about losing another team over a dream stadium. We have to know how the Belle Vue management will make this sustainable. The Belle Vue business model still isn't clear from the management as they're still in discussions as stated here "The National Speedway Stadium build costs have increased by £0.75m to £5.25m and will be funded from prudential borrowing and the Council’s investment will be repaid by Belle Vue Aces in line with the rental lease agreement. The Council are working with Belle Vue Aces on the development of their business plan to mitigate any risk of default on full recovery of loan". Sorry but this seems obsurd and nowhere near even getting off the ground as yet
  16. Holy sh!yte you're right. I based my numbers on the original statement of leasing over 60yrs. When did 24yrs first appear? That's outrageous number's Fact, Belle Vue will go seriously bust in super quick time if they run with this venture
  17. Struggling to see much positives in that. Belle Vue have to find an extra £1.3m on top of there existing £4.5m to be claimed back in rent over 60 seasons. £97,000 per year in rent alone. 5,000 paying customer to cover the rent per year. By the time this gets started these costs will keep increasing as land and building costs are on the rise once again. This needs to be rubber stamped very quickly, at the latest by the end of this season or this will just be a complete waste of time and money for all involved.
  18. Still believe? The way this is going it will cost Aces fans £40 a meeting
  19. Haven't we already established that Lambert is riding on a German licence? Hence why he won't do under 21's, Great Britain, British Final's etc or have I misunderstood?
  20. Questions for iris123 How is it possible to judge if a 14yr old is strong enough to face top class speedway?
  21. Definitely agree with a comment made earlier that Morris, Rossiter & Lyon need to get with Lambert and his party & go over it. The BSPA (& to a point, rightly so) won't give a flying fook to Lambert's opinion. The league structures and costs are the top priorities of the BSPA. Those leading the line for GB have a responsibility to bringing youngsters in line & being available at all times to sort these issues. Also, giving Lambert Woffinden's phone No' & vice versa could be a huge factor.
  22. Was Smolinski's performance that much of a surprise? Not for me after his Best Pairs riding. Showed then he's gonna mix it
  23. how can you even suggest Darcy had any blame in that
