Is he really a future star though? Been knocking around for years without progressing an awful lot. The rides being suggested are Kemp, Flint, Palin, the Thompson twins, Brennan and Rowe. These are teenagers who could progress nicely with the right development path. Some of them have Polish contracts already.

Countered by your bias against them. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no great fan of Mr Godfrey or his club but you really should rein it in a little. There are very few better tracks than Scunny on a good day although as you say any international fixture should automatically be at the NSS as it’s the best we have by some distance.

I would imagine there will be spots for riders like Bridger and youngsters alongside him, if anything this whole situation is going to see riders like Hartel and other modestly talented European riders not riding over here which isn’t a bad thing IMO. I don’t think we should be discouraging or turning away any British riders who are good enough and want to ride in our leagues.

So assuming Bridger signs Lynn will presumably line up like this Cook Riss Jorgensen Kerr Proctor Bridger While the priority should be to get the league up and running again I wonder if this is an indication of team strengths this season?

Well for a start if he signs for Lynn he will effectively be replacing a German rider which cuts out air fares and puts a British rider in work. It’s not without risk and he could be a revelation or a disaster but on a sub four point average I’d have thought it’s worth a shot.

I think we are going to get more and more of this in light of COVID and Poland.....clubs are going to prefer UK based riders who will prioritise our domestic racing and not spend money flying European riders in and out.

If this has legs I’ve got mixed feelings, obviously he hasn’t ridden for a long time and throughout his career he flattered to deceive.....on the flip side he would presumably be on a low average and will be four years more mature than when he last ride. In addition he is one of the most naturally talented motorcyclists I’ve seen ride a speedway bike, remember seeing him for the first time at Lynn in the British U21 final when he was sixteen and being hugely impressed with his style and track craft. I guess he will also be much cheaper than Hartel and fully committed to this country rather than riding elsewhere too. We will see.

He’s dynamite at the NSS so he must be on Belle Vue’s radar.

Massive opportunity today to revolutionise speedway in the UK, get a proper all encompassing streaming service set up, race on the nights we want to with riders who will be fully committed to the leagues and their clubs with a fan base who are going to be desperate to see some speedway if and when it gets going this year.....but will they take it? How much faith have we all got in the folk running British speedway?

The title of the thread is ‘Dream Team’ which implies the strongest possible team right now and on that basis the team in the first post is spot on.

Like I said, it works for him. Iversen has also ridden in every league and the GP’s before but most other top class riders are happy to just ride a couple of times a week and rest more/travel less. I can’t speak for other Lynn supporters but I defended Woffinden when he stopped riding over here, and winning world titles afterwards vindicated that. I’ve never had a problem with any rider quitting the UK, it’s been a steady trickle over the years unfortunately and Lambert is just the latest one. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how little backlash there has been towards Robert on social media especially, I thought most people would hammer him for it but from what I’ve seen it’s been the opposite with most people appreciating his position and decision.

Absolutely, he was a late developer and rode in our second division for a long time before he became world class and it suits him to race here now but for most others it doesn’t any more. Every rider does what is right for them, this country is pretty much at the bottom of the speedway food chain nowadays due to being so spectacularly mismanaged hence so few top riders appearing here but if it works for Doyle then good luck to him. I’ve never really agreed with the ‘loyalty’ thing though, clubs hire and fire riders as they see fit so it works both ways.

You’ll have to remind me of those occasions as I was thinking today what a good servant to Lynn he’s been since he turned sixteen, maybe there are incidents I’ve forgotten?
