  1. I’d have thought it’s time to move on from Worrall.
  2. Predominantly due to two massive crashes. But I agree, not ready based on this year.
  3. I’d suggest the chances of Mick Norris not being at Swindon next year are virtually nil.
  4. I’m surprised it’s that close too. And surprised Saddlebow to Foxhole is so far Football pundits never understand the Norwich/Ipswich rivalry because they are 40 odd miles apart but this part of the world is relatively sparsely populated and it’s essentially Norfolk v Suffolk, certainly in the case of the Old Farm Derby. Something similar with Lynn v Ipswich back in the halcyon days of speedway Id say. For the record I’ve been to Cradley v Wolves and the return fixture way back on a bank holiday Monday in the early nineties, can appreciate the ferocity of the rivalry.
  5. Agree, as popular as those two riders are we have to be tough and address the awful away form for next year.
  6. I can remember a Lynn v Ipswich meeting in the late eighties when I would have been around ten years old; we walked as a family from the home straight around to the back straight and had to stop to watch a heat on bend two in front of several hundred away supporters, the language and behaviour was pretty strong and football hooligan like, pretty nasty stuff for a youngster to hear. Can specifically remember Bo Petersen being called a ‘f*cking egghead c*nt’. My parents should have known better really and it was certainly an eye opener for a sheltered Norfolk lad haven’t heard anything quite like that at a speedway meeting since thankfully.
  7. Surprised Bickley didn’t have five or six rides. Somerset certainly paying for woefully weak reserves.
  8. This is like the ‘which is the greatest local derby in football’ debate, to the people involved their derby will be the one others can’t match. There are several fierce derbies in speedway, to East Anglians the Lynn v Ipswich derbies of the 70s and 80s were the ultimate meetings. I’m sure Scottish fans would say that nothing beats Glasgow v Edinburgh etc etc.
  9. I think as a season opener they work quite well because people are keen to see some speedway after a long winter. As for the memorial meetings they don’t have to be individuals, if the riders are carefully selected I think pairs or challenge meetings with some different riders during a gap in the fixtures could work well.
  10. No reason why the season couldn’t open with the PotE with a strong field, riders want practice laps early on. Disappointing that the Ashley Jones and David Nix memorial meetings faded away over time, they should be held at Lynn every year IMO.
  11. Hans’ average has been badly affected by numerous injuries and pile ups this year....yes he’s past his best but he will make a good second string for somebody on that figure, maybe even at reserve if their team was built correctly. He’s not the answer long term but next year he will be for somebody.
  12. I think if you concentrate the majority of a crowd in a stand with a low roof, particularly on the home straight you will naturally get a louder noise.
  13. Potentially Schlein as he guested the other week but that’s unconfirmed
  14. By the same token I can’t imagine Buster touching Holder or Batch with a barge pole ever again If you are a Buster owned team your pool of potential riders is much smaller due to all the ones he has fallen out with
  15. I actually believe that there should be a league winners shield like in Rugby League, everyone will know that the Play Offs decide the champions but a bit of recognition for being the best team over the league programme would be appropriate IMO. Along with a bit of celebrating. Maybe it did spur Poole on a bit but I believe Lynn would have won the final comfortably if it wasn’t for those two injuries. Their name was definitely on it last year.
  16. Only because we know how detached from reality he is and as a result his opinions can’t really be taken too seriously. But I take your point.
  17. I know it’s starman so we have to make allowances but the irony of a Poole fan accusing any other club of having a moto x track
  18. It comes across that you are suggesting anyone who doesn’t go isn’t a real / true fan.
  19. At the end of the day Poole were perfectly entitled to celebrate their comeback in the first leg but equally if Ipswich were wound up by it then they are entitled to use it as their motivation. A pretty regular occurrence in professional sport I’d say.
  20. And on a bargain average. As scooby says expect the wealthier clubs to be sniffing round him too.
  21. I think all Lynn fans on here know that and know ie too much clay in the dirt which suits cars but not bikes. That doesn’t mean we can’t comment on the racing elsewhere. I think there were reasons it was poor last night, from my point of view I went to the Foxhole many times between 1992 and 2002 (was a regular in 1999 when I lived in Chelmsford) and the shape of the track now is a million times better than it was then.
  22. The Foxhole has a big old capacity though, it could be a decent crowd for a speedway meeting and still look half empty.
