They did but they rode in Poland and Sweden back then, unfortunately very few do now and don’t seem to have the drive to do so when there are easier pounds and pennies to come by in the UK. If it was up to me doubling up would be for Brits of a certain age only eg U23. The whole thing has very much got out of hand with lots of foreign riders using the system too.

I wouldn’t necessarily disagree with that but I expect you would get riders claiming they can’t afford to race without both incomes and you wonder what riders would cone into our league set up to make the numbers up. Doubling up has changed an awful lot from when it was first introduced and catered for young British riders only.

Set nights allow riders to double up without fixture clashes which is vitally important.

Perhaps they thought it might be an even better way which would maximise media exposure? I think they got it wrong by leaving such long gaps between riders, if they did one a week for example it might work better. I agree with you though, the supporters nights worked well back in the day. Perhaps nowadays though with social media putting things into the public domain the instant they happen folk would rather stay at home and see it on their screen than travel to the stadium.

Sometimes but there have been occasions where meetings at Lynn have gone on past half nine and I just think that is too long. Can’t be helped if there is an injury but when it’s lots of grading and an unnecessary interval it won’t get people coming back. -
Perhaps they’ve tried but he’s decided to keep his options open? Can imagine a few clubs would like him on their side.

If Glasgow can get him aboard some decent kit then Oystercard should be very good value on his average.

Because we would have the longest and worst tail in the history of speedway! Iversen seemed to have some issues with the Lynn track in 2018, didn’t look particularly comfortable on it towards the end of the season and compared to Cook and Riss is no spring chicken. If Lynn went for Puk rather than Riss I think it would eat up too many points and in any case I’d like to see Cook back, he had a pretty good year last year and I’d like to see what he can do over a full season.

Anything to do with Plymouth’s promoter? Perhaps they feel that they need extra insurance that he can run a club at a higher level.

And I respect yours. Who do you support out of interest? I’m a Lynn fan and at various points last season Cook, Riss, Jorgensen, MPT, Proctor, Andersen, S Lambert and Kerr all had teams in the Championship and I can honestly say that it didn’t make me see them any differently in terms of a team representing my club.

Loads of reasons ahead of doubling up why speedway is where it is ie poor racing, poor stadia, too expensive etc. I don’t believe doubling up really matters to many people and certainly doesn’t have anything to do with attracting new customers. I accept that fixed race night has had a negative affect on a few tracks but IMO they are essential if people want to avoid fixture clashes both in the UK and abroad. You simply can’t have riders needing to be in two places on the same night like we’ve had before.

Not really in Ipswich's hands, if he decides he’d like to race elsewhere there ain’t much you can do about it.

Because he’s on an attractive average, because given a whole season he would almost certainly be better than he was for a few weeks this year. Because he is still a class act. Not sure if he is doing Sweden this year but if he is I don’t see him doing a full season here. As for Lynn my feeling is that we have moved on from Puk now and that the three heat leaders who finished the season for us will be ahead of Iversen in the queue for 2020.

Not now the race night issue has been addressed. Doubling up is way down speedways list of problems.

Need one or two more new faces than that, away form needs addressing. Don’t think you can start with Lewis in the top five unfortunately going by last season. The more I think about it having Lambert, Cook and Riss as a heat leader trio is a must. Choose the other four carefully and we could have a team who will challenge at the business end of the season.

We had an absolute ball in the second division 2003-2010, I’m sure Poole and the majority of their fans will too.

I’d have thought the biggest draw to Belle Vue for Wright would be the lack of travelling for home meetings. -
The problem is they lowered the standard by dropping down a League and made or more expensive for concessions, not clever. It’s like getting relegated in football and making it more expensive to go, don’t be surprised then by all the empty seats.

Not an hour perhaps but ninety minutes is plenty long enough. An hour and three quarters absolute maximum which would be a half nine finish at Lynn. If there have to be longish gaps between any races then something needs to be going on to entertain people. -
It was an issue when race nights clashed between the leagues but now we have fixed race nights for the top league it’s really not.

Nobody should be criticised for trying new things, they might not work but we won’t know until they've been trialled.
