Except it's not bleating, it's a sensible suggestion which other sports use to their benefit.

I don't think teams should be able to bring riders in at such a late stage, there should be a transfer window so that any replacements have to be declared for a certain number of league matches before athe play offs. If you have injuries then hard luck, just like Belle Vue in 2005.

Kings Lynn V Poole Elb 13/09/16
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Let's hope we can sign off with a strong performance this evening, on paper this ought to be a comfortable away win but if Poole are as poor out of the gate as last night and with us having a ringer at reserve to match theirs we may have a chance. -
Works for Superleague so why not speedway? Think it's a good idea personally, just a good bit of recognition for being the best team over 28 'qualifying' meetings and nothing more.
-
If Andersen rides on Saturday Poole can't possibly sign a replacement, surely?

Congratulations Belle Vue - League Champions

Superleague has a shield for the team who finishes top I believe, seems like a good idea to me. -
Not for me I'm afraid. Time for a completely fresh approach. Those three have had a million injuries between them and even if they regained their mojos they would all only be one crash away from shutting off into corners all over again. Just not worth the risk.

Workington Vs Glasgow (pl) 10/09/16
Bagpuss replied to damosuzuki's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Fair enough Chris, just thought it was a little over the top and unnecessary. Just my point of view that I feel responsible to text in a non whinging manner when I do it. -
Yep was certainly a little slick which isn't ideal with such a flat circuit but have seen worse GP's, the unfamiliarity with the track for most of the riders probably helped with the decent heats. I didn't think there were any more FTG's than the majority of GP's, the really good ones are few and far between nowadays with most races not containing passing but the whole package of needing points to qualify for semis and the top eight overall means there is always interest and the format works well. Would be nice to think that the series could be contested on the eleven best tracks in the world but will never happen. Might see one at Belle Vue one day but could you imagine GP's at Scunny, Somerset or P'boro? Wow.

Indeed, I'm one of those 'wallies' too on the odd occasion that I go to Lynn and you are in a pickle (Bagpuss). However criticising a particular rider in four of his five heats is a bit much and opens that person up to comment. We all appreciate what texters do for us all but I think there is a responsibility to do it in a mature, sensible and almost professional manner. We've all done it in the heat of the moment but this was a bit much. -
Probably best to not take as gospel 'what people have said'.

Speedway Referee Numbers In Decline
Bagpuss replied to Dickie Head's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Why anybody would want to be a referee in any sport is beyond me. Makes them an abuse magnet. -
Berwick V Rye House (7pm) 10th September

Morris was unfortunate but Toft and Perry just weren't producing the goods. They aren't the first riders to thrive in a different environment. -

Texter comes across as a bit of a wally with his ad nauseum comments about Bach. -
Perhaps he is stepping it up but the other two are just better this year? Can't imagine his thumb injury is helping matters either. Not possible to win it every single year, just good to have a Brit up there challenging every year.

Doyle looking every inch a world champion at the moment. Don't think the track is too bad, racing no worse than most other GP's.

Changes to track prep is great news and hopefully it will improve things. It's no good one meeting in five being good, we need thrills and spills every week. Hopefully getting rid of the stock car-friendly clay based muck is part of the plan. Would love to see the bends taken in a few yards too.

Lambert racing rather than his personal one. Twisted his hip in heat 13. -
Wolves V Coventry 12/09.
Bagpuss replied to Tommy Sweetman's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Wow, I'd suggest lightening up a bit. -
I think regular fixtures and fewer guests and R/R would be a big attraction too. Not saying that it would be like it was 2003-10 but they were great times with a proper team spirit and a feel good factor around the club even though the racing wasnt always great.
-
I agree, look at the riders we would potentially have to choose from in the second tier; Lambert x 2 Porsing Schlein Kerr Huckenbeck Rose Smith Bailey Stokes I'd always like to see my club running at the highest level possible but maybe PL would suit us best right now. A fresh start would certainly be no bad thing IMO.

Poole V Kings Lynn Elb. 7/09/16
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Can't blame Lambert if he wasn't totally up for it last night, the atmosphere around the club is dire and it must be difficult turning up every week knowing you are going to get a hiding. However I don't believe that was the problem, he was yards behind everyone else from the gate and however good the track was it makes life extremely difficult. If I was him I'd be getting in touch Hancock asap to get some lessons and advice on starting. I still maintain he is doing ok for his age and inexperience but he really needs to be kicking on over the next couple of seasons. A regular gig in Poland next year can only help.
