Swedish Elitserien 2015, Round 3
Bagpuss replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
Pedersen was peerless but his failure to look round for Buzz in heat 14 was poor. -
And people think football is bad for hiring and firing! Dear me.
-
The fact remains though that if you replace a number one rider with a three pointer for any given match it is likely to affect the crowd in a negative way. Maybe if speedway clubs were making large profits it could happen but no club can afford one or two poor attendances in the current climate.

Teamgb V. Great Britain?
Bagpuss replied to The White Knight's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Don't think it matters a fig personally. -
More important than the FTR / EDR scheme are the changes that the NL have made this year.....far less journeymen and many more rookies in that league now which is as it should be and will hopefully lead to more graduates for the PL, and then the EL and so on. Should have happened years ago.
-
As orion says there are no easy answers. I like the idea of a guest pool of riders who don't race over here, if enough can be encouraged to sign up to the idea it could work. I also think there are enough riders in the PL who could be part of an EL squad eg R Worrall, Kurtz, Jakobsen, Tungate, Manzares, Lindgren, Bjerre, Hansen etc etc. Somehow we need to get away from riders guesting when they already have an EL team.

Wolves V King's Lynn Monday 18th May
Bagpuss replied to Wolfsbane's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think from seeing him last Wednesday and on Saturday, as well as last night's updates, he just isn't getting out of the gate at the moment. It's such a huge part of speedway that if you are struggling in that regard your points totals will reflect it. -

GRW123, why did you think that Worrall would struggle to match Kerr's score out of interest? Going on current PL form and the fact that SW spent a season riding for Cradley I thought there was always a good chance he would score heavily and probably do more than Lewi might have. -

We certainly gained through having Worrall at reserve and I always think a wet track hinders the home side more so will recognise our good fortune and take the four points. Very pleasing to score 50 on the road with our number one only scoring five of them. Not sure what Puk's issues are at the moment but I'm sure he'll sort them just as Kenneth appears to have done. -

Narrow home win and a landslide in the second leg. -

Don't like to distrust Kenneth but seems likely we'll suffer in heats 13 & 15. Gonna be tight. -

Worrall could well be a stronger option than Lewis. -
The Lambert at Peterborough one is similar, they seem to be protecting his average too but Hansen has been absent through fixture clashes and Worky have been punished by using a three pointer. However if Magic rides in Sweden tomorrow that makes this one even worse. It won't happen as our governing body is too weak but as Star Lady says forcing riders to sit out for a period of time as a result of injury and altering their average accordingly when they miss matches at certain tracks might weed out those taking the Michael.
-
So he's on the kind of contract which allows him to pick and choose his meetings in order to massage his average then? Marvellous.
-
Agreed Henners, long overdue. Let clubs declare 10-12 riders and then they can please themselves.
-
Doesn't really matter which clubs are involved though does it, it needs sorting out. This case appears to stand out because it seems the sicknote may have been issued before he rode yesterday. I'm sure its only a coincidence that Poole seem to be involved in 90% of British speedway's controversy but as Star Lady says eventually so many people will have walked away that there won't be enough left for the sport to function.

Bagpuss replied to Wolfsbane's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
On the contrary, they can all ride Wolves. They can all ride Kirky Lane too and look what happened there. We may well have won last time but my point was its not a great hunting ground, look back through the records and see for yourself. Today is a new day so anything could happen, but considering Wolves' home form and Lynn's away form it won't be the massive shock being suggested should Wolves win this evening. -

Can't believe you are thinking of travelling all that way with the weather so dodgy! You are officially mental although I take my hat off to you for your dedication -

Should have a field day, but may not as they are so inconsistent. And riding against a team undefeated at home who, even without their number one, are full of Monmore specialists. And Lynn very, very rarely win there. So could go either way. -
Belle Vue Aces -v Poole "cheats" Pirates
Bagpuss replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Magic has form for this doesn't he? I'm sure he has ridden in Poland on Sunday and Sweden on Tuesday before while of course being 'injured' for his Monday evening EL commitments. Come on you Aces. -

A world class number one who is struggling for form! You are doing your own team members a disservice if you think that at least one of them can't/won't beat him. He may well go through the card but the chances are on current form that he won't. As SCB says he's not had a good year so far. Wells, Thorsell, King, PK, Blackbird & Bates could all outscore their opposite numbers but they may not......the whole point is that it's very much in the balance, an injury hit side against a highly inconsistent one. Could go either way.
