  1. About time we dispensed with Sky I'm afraid, the opportunity was there in the noughties to push our sport on to the next level but the people in charge as usual made a dog's breakfast out of it. I know clubs will lose income but I believe we need to get back to basics even if that means the few remaining big names being lost. This whole heat 10 business and the need for Sky to to show meetings whatever the weather in front of abysmal crowds needs to end. Time for regular fixtures with far fewer guests.
  2. Whoever is to blame it does the sport absolutely no good whatsoever for that to be shown live on national telly. Absolutely embarrassing and it really does make you wonder why we all bother. As somebody has already said the Heat 10 rule was a dreadful idea and has resulted in the paying public having the p1ss ripped out of them even more.
  3. Better fixture planning would eliminate the need for many guests for a start. Poor fixture planning is speedway's biggest problem at the moment I'd say. Guests are a necessary evil but I think it would be realistic to restrict them to covering for number ones and perhaps a guest pool for reserves. No reason why the other team positions can't be covered by a squad system, there are plenty of riders in the PL who would be capable and no doubt several who don't ride over here who would be happy to do so for a limited number of meetings. I don't see us ever being able to operate without guests but I'm sure the number used can be dramatically reduced, people are fed up of seeing teams turn up with three or four riders who aren't their own.
  4. Threads develop into different discussions, it happens. I think CJ was the one who brought the Glasgow meeting up in the first place! Seems like Glasgow can't be mentioned by Edinburgh fans on here without money being referred to
  5. Showers from 2pm and proper rain from 6pm according to the BBC.
  6. I actually thought the riders in the reserve draft made it far more balanced this year, Auty, Wright and Birks were added to give everybody (in theory) a strong senior reserve and a much more even set of number sevens. Lakeside IMO have been very unfortunate that Birks didn't recapture his 2013 form for Swindon and Ellis just hasn't kicked on at all. As I said on a different thread I thought the Hammers' pair would be one of the stronger ones but it may didn't turn out that way. Out if interest if Lakeside hadn't protected Ellis would they have got an earlier pick than Birks?
  7. It's a bit of a mystery why the EoES hasn't held more SWC events really.
  8. I've long said that the shale used (as well as our long straights) doesn't lend itself to decent racing, as HT says there just isn't an outside line to speak of any more and hasn't been for a long while. If it's the case that stocks rule the roost then that's just how it is, the money they generate keeps the stadium and therefore the speedway going so we just have to put up with it. Or not go I suppose!
  9. And that Lakeside have lost so many home matches.
  10. Lewis spends far too much time on the deck unfortunately.
  11. You've obviously had some kind of run in with Buster as all of your posts on Lynn threads are negative, critical and very rarely balanced.
  12. I agree about a uniform race night for the EL but it's unlikely to ever happen. Maybe a couple of race nights could happen though rather than five. The other bit is nothing to do with EL snobbery, it's just daft that riders who are looking to break into the big time are missing top division meeting to ride in second tier matches, it defies common sense. And I'd say the same if they both rode for my team in the PL.
  13. I really don't think hoarding is realistic in any way, the main problem is leaving the fourth bend where according to the riders it goes from relative darkness to bright sunshine. To block that out you are talking about an unfeasibly high structure, it just ain't gonna happen. I'd imagine it wasn't a problem in the past because rider's attitudes were different, I expect they just got on with it and probably used tinted goggles. Why can't they do that now? The promotion can however have the finger pointed at them for unnecessary intervals and putting refreshment & bar sales ahead of people getting home at a reasonable time. I'd suggest that if your promotion is happy with taking just a point from a track you generally ride as well as your own against a side missing two of its heat leaders then their ambition is some way below where it should be.
  14. Unbelievable result, Poole should have broken 50 with ease and will be kicking themselves for not doing so. Massive thank you to Sam Masters for a great guest score, and well done to the five fit Stars. Very proud!
  15. As usual you are completely clueless. If anything Lynn's track is too smooth and consistent, always well prepared however much shale is on it. The poor racing has nothing to do with the the prep, IMO it's a combination of the dirt used and the shape.
  16. Quite right, three quarters of speedway's troubles are a result of dreadful fixture planning. I agree about Cook and Josh G, these are two riders who we are told are ambitious and want to improve so they really shouldn't miss EL matches to ride in the PL regardless of who's asset they may be. No admission of being wrong about Fricke & Nielsen though, you'd make a great politician
  17. This is something all tracks should do when Sky is in town.
  18. They have all declined it would seem. As a self employed seasonal worker myself it's disappointing to see riders turning down extra work.
  19. Same old EL v PL arguments but as usual people ignore the facts that the PL generally has the better racetracks, the price difference is so little nowadays and that many riders double down rather than up. The main issue the EL has is the one of missing riders, it seems to get worse every year and needs to be addressed (squads) so that we aren't subjected to random guests and R/R every week. Letting Lord Ford go by his own personal rulebook doesn't help matters either.
  20. Plus Lambert & Kerr carrying knocks. Think it would be fair to say that Lord Ford and his cronies are visiting us at a good time.
  21. That's exactly my point. If you gate well at Lynn you are laughing. Source?
