I think its a myth personally that faster tracks require less skill. Places like Somerset, Scunny, Kumla, Bydgoszcz, Peterborough etc can have multiple lines and the skill level required to stay in front and second guess what your opponent(s) are going to do has to be pretty high. Of course quick bikes are important too but I can't imagine that too many visitors to the OTA lack the required horsepower, it's more that the home lads know exactly where to put the bike and when.

Great track but with such a strong side again this year there are bound to be several FTG's.

Newcastle V Edinburgh Koc Semi-final ?
Bagpuss replied to ruffdiamond's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Don't forget the format for EL heatleaders is much tougher this year. I think in order for him to progress further he will need to leave the PL behind next year and start riding in foreign leagues against better riders, seems that's his plan so look forward to seeing how far he can go. -

Difficult to have a discussion about it if that's all you are going to offer. -

Whoever you think should have been excluded I think Pedersen needs to start riding with a bit more intelligence......he keeps steaming up the inside of people with the intention of taking them wide but if there is any kind of contact they go down and the ref usually sides with the struck rider. Pedersen keeps putting himself in the position where he can be excluded. Time for him to start riding with more brains and less brawn. -
Pretty harsh to say Batchelor isn't good enough, he gave a decent account of himself in what was his first GP season at fairly short notice.

Quite agree, you guys obviously used Dilger tonight because he was there but the fact there are so many poor foreign riders in the PL and the likes of Sarjeant, Clegg, Greaves, Nielsen, Morley etc can't get a ride is criminal. Needs sorting for 2015. -

Small tracks can be good but there's nothing like an overtake or a thrilling race at the highest speeds. -

Best Speedway Track In The World?

Sweeping bends and short straights make good racetracks IMO, as Somerset & Peterborough testify. I'm sure there are boring races because the Rebels are a very good team and won't be caught if they trap but its a track which offers so many lines, a bit like Scunny. -
Coventry Storm V Kent Kings Nl Po Semi Final 2nd Leg

Hmmmmm Wolves is rarely anything less than very good racing and according to Halifaxtiger (whose opinion I'd take over most) the action at Lakeside and Belle Vue has been much better this year. I think the main problem with the EL is that it has a high percentage of ordinary racetracks. Replace Leicester, Eastbourne & Poole for example with Mildenhall, Somerset and Scunny and all of a sudden the racing in the EL would be a whole lot better. Having seen lots of meetings at all three levels over the years on thirty odd tracks I'd say that third tier racing is the least entertaining IMO. -

Agreed. The two dullest riders in the series finishing first and second last night says it all.

Kumla has looked bloody good on Eurosport this year. -
Fantastic for Lynn in 2006 & 2007, will go down as a bit of a legend in these parts for his efforts in those seasons. Happy retirement Daniel

Bydgoszcz without question (Nige) -
As long as the Play Offs determine the champions and the league topping trophy is recognition of exactly that.

Berwick V Edinburgh - Pl Playoffs (20 September)
Bagpuss replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not sure about the nasty bile but it does make him look unprofessional. Don't have a problem with some banter with opposing fans necessarily but being disparaging about another track really isn't on. Berwick may not be the best racetrack in the world but it enables the club to function which provides him with several extra meetings each season to earn money.
