  1. Processional stuff tonight, can recall only five overtakes although plenty of effort on display. Thoroughly deserved win for the Potters, Lambert as expected outstanding but the engine room of Sarjent and Atkin did the real damage, the former looking an excellent prospect while the latter used all his experience and rode superbly. Birks and Kerr very much the top men for the Young Stars but the rest too inconsistent out of the gate to push Stoke harder. Finally on a positive note the attendance appeared to be very healthy for an NL fixture with a fair smattering of Stoke fans, and it was good to catch up with Vog
  2. Zagar apart there's nothing in there to set the pulse racing. Gustafsson, Vaculik and Madsen are promising young riders but don't come across as being ready yet. Half a dozen in there who have been there, done it and failed.
  3. Great post 25yearfan, sums it up perfectly. Seems like its just one dissenting voice regarding Lambert in the NL, as you say he fitted the criteria at the start of the season and thats all that matters. Heeps certainly seems like the real deal and I'm sure he'll take the move to number one in his stride, as well as the move up to the PL next year. Maybe aljack should be thanking Chris Louis for bringing the lad over rather than annuiting with the quite ridiculous and unwarranted slagging off.
  4. We only have Harris because nobody else is good enough. It's debatable that even Bomber is good enough to be honest. I have no idea why we only have one GP here, my guess would be that its financial. However my point has nothing to do with Britain.....Poland have 4 representatives because they deserve to and although I don't agree with 3 GP in one country it makes some kind of sense because they are guaranteed full stadia. All I'm saying is that with four Poles on show in each GP is that not enough? The authorities want to see how Darcy copes in the GP environment so it makes sense to give him a go in a country that has 3 GP and already has 4 GP riders. To get all shirty at not having 5/16 Poles seems a bit silly.

Sponsored by www.unofficialscorpion.co.uk - The History of Scunthorpe Speedway ************************* Comments: Line-ups are a complete and total guess work, and will be confirmed shortly. No Olly Rayson due to illness. Line-ups now confirmed. Spitting with rain @ 2.50pm. Referee is Graham Flint. The weather is cold and overcast, and the track looks patchy. HalifaxTiger estimates the crowd at being about 200 people or so. The track is "rock hard" according to a rider. Ivan Mauger is at Buxton! Unbelievably almost unrecognised. 6. Indeed, a proper GP on a proper race track tonight. Hats off to Hampel, have always had him down as a GT but that was a great ride in the final. Was the only Pole comfortable in the grip. I don't think Emil is as wreckless as people try to make out, his method of passing is to get underneath people entering the bends but with the track as grippy as it was early on tonight it was a dangerous game, as Jonasson found out. However the clash with Lindback was just two riders arriving at the same piece of track at the same time, no wing mirrors in speedway!
  7. Anyone else struggling to get the draw through? It worked fine for Cardiff but not for the Italian and now not for this one!! Any advice would be appreciated Thanks
  8. Discuss please if you want to See you on the first bend Vogster?
  9. I think people get to worked up about riders not shaking hands immediately after races, as long as everyone does so after the meeting its all good.
  10. The Poles have three GP and a quarter of the field are Polish, so they should stop being so greedy. Will be good to see how Darcy copes in a GP situation before his inevitable seeding for 2012.
  11. I wouldn't expect a fifteen year old to know how to team ride! Kurtz looks like he has turned a corner this year, has started to put in some decent scores for the Wasps. Reckon he will blossom in 2012.
  12. With all due respect to Ipswich though if the lad averages 8+ in the PL next year I don't think he'd stay with you guys anyway, he'll be getting megabucks offers left right and centre from the richer clubs. I believe that even if we had stepped up last season Darcy would have gone to Poole, to be with his mate Noddy of course but also because we wouldn't have been able to match the package that Poole could offer. I'd enjoy him next year, if he turns out anything like Darcy it'll be a year to remember.
  13. Hopefully somebody else will get him rather than Poole hoovering up all the good young talent! Can see him having a similar impact next year to that of Darcy in 2009.
  14. Gordon Bennett, well done Mildy. Heeps looks like he is going to something very special.
  15. Thank you racersa and royals. Its a pity that seemingly every thread has to be spoilt by petty bickering nowadays. I think Darcy was always going to win yesterday but I wouldn't rule any of the Poles out with three rounds to go. Younger Pawlicki in particular seems a special talent.
  16. No neutral meeting report yet then. Good job I'm a patient fellow
  17. Lol, will be nice to read an impartial report from somebody who supports neither Poole or Coventry
  18. Agree with both, I'm sure it would be possible to 'seed' riders in each squad based on current averages in the three major leagues, SWC records etc to ensure that the weakest rider is always at reserve. Also riders who go into a meeting with an injury or illness and have to pull out can't be replaced, just those who are signed off by the doc after a crash in the meeting itself. Personally I'd bring in a 'minimum rides' rule too, each rider has to have three rides and can be replaced by a reserve once and a TS once if needs be. I'd make the TS valid once 10 behind rather than 6 and abolish the Joker to stop riders trying to finish last. They are pretty minor tweaks though, the 25 heat format with one from each side is the best IMO and the racing is always top notch.
  19. Last night was much, much better than Monday because the teams were much more balanced, you could tell at Lynn how most races were going to finish beforehand unfortunately. Last night's line up at the NA would be a super meeting. Anyway, I agree with HW that the current format is a good one, but for me the Joker needs scrapping or tweaking. As others have said seeing riders slowing deliberately is less than ideal. I'd personally scrap all jokers and tactical subs and have a reserve instead, who can take one ride of each team member if required. And as good as the meeting was last night lets see the final shared round a bit more.......I believe Sweden have it next year but it should go to Denmark, the UK and anywhere else that wants it before Poland get it again.
  20. Tremendous race to finish. Good to see Kenny top scoring for the Danes who were rather disappointing to be fair. Lindgren and Jonasson very impressive for the Swedes; Crump, Holder and Batch for the Aussies. Well done to Poland but hope somebody else wins it next year, becoming a tad boring!
