Should be a comfy Heathens win looking at the teams but hopefully the Starlets can get stuck in and upset the applecart. Weather set fair so hopefully its a good evening's racing for those attending.

Scunthorpe Lose World U21 Meeting
Bagpuss replied to Yorkscorp's topic in International World of Speedway
Anyway, Team GB U21 squad named for this meeting; Garrity Haines Hart Howarth Newman Perry Worrall R Worrall S To be trimmed down to five riders for the event http://www.speedwayg...hp?extend.15425 -
Personally I believe that Bridger has more ability on a motorcycle than any British rider around at present. However he often seems unable to think his way through four smooth laps of speedway and has a poor attitude which sadly means he's unlikely to ever amount to anything in the sport.

King's Lynn V Mildenhall (nlkoc) 2nd May

Forgot to add what a pleasure it was to meet up once again with the only bloke I know who wears gloves, a scarf, a big old fleece and SHORTS at a speedway meeting -
King's Lynn V Mildenhall (nlkoc) 2nd May
Bagpuss replied to MrMungo's topic in National League Speedway
Personally I didn't see an awful lot wrong with either incident involving Blackbird to be honest, and the lad certainly has something about him. Same can be said for Bates who looks a fine prospect, although he may benefit from not getting quite so close to back wheels when chasing them thought his move on Knight was a little wreckless but he's a young lad learning and can be excused. Thought the Young Stars looked very rusty and it was a thoroughly deserved win for Mildy who had far more spark about them throughout the match. Adam Lowe was the one shining light for Lynn before his tumble. Kerr very unlucky in his last two after dreadful gates in his first couple of heats. One thing that struck me last night was the lack of meetings that riders like he and Joe Jacobs will be getting this year.....they are arguably the two brightest hopes for the two clubs and they should be getting loads of rides to aid their development, they need to be racing two or three times a week to help them progress. What a shame there aren't more clubs in the NL to provide everyone with extra track time. -
I think Rob's qualities are more on the mental side of a rider's approach, he is proven at getting the best out of riders in his role at Lynn and I guess Kenneth was impressed enough during their year together at Lynn to want him in his GP corner this season. That said I don't think Bjerre has it in him to be any better than 7th or 8th in the world so I can't see it making too much difference personally. I'm more concerned with the experience helping Rob in his job at Lynn.

Not too worried about the result (although I'd like to see the Starlets win) but looking forward to seeing how much the likes of Kerr, Stokes, Nielsen, Jacobs & Blackbird have improved since I last saw them ride. And of course to see some racing after almost a month! -
He shouldn't, because he'd be wasting his time. He had a vision for the future which would have taken 5-10 years to bear fruit but the authorities chose a short term and much cheaper way which is of course their perogative. Unfortunately though we'll continue to see Brits struggling on the GP and SWC stages.

Leszno Gp 28th April 2012
Bagpuss replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Excellent meeting, was a bit worried when all that dust kicked up during heat one but once the track settled down the action was superb. Great final too. -
They've said they are happy for Rob to do it and add another string to his bow as it were. I think he's due to miss three Lynn meetings and two of those were for the New Zealand GP last month. Rob is one of the best motivators in the sport and its a father in his cap that a GP rider wants him in his corner. *feather

Scunthorpe Lose World U21 Meeting
Bagpuss replied to Yorkscorp's topic in International World of Speedway
A shame as I'm sure it would have been an excellent meeting but on the bright side I think our lads stand a better chance of getting through on what is a more 'British' style track if you like. -
Usa Future Tour --the Boys Are Here And Ready For Action!
Bagpuss replied to Main Man's topic in National League Speedway
Thats a fair point, but perhaps tomorrow night was the only date available which suited both parties? The situation must have been considered before the fixture was arranged as its in nobody's interests to call the meeting off like it has been if other dates were available. I dislike stocks as much as the next person but I'd suggest that without them there'd probably not be a Young Stars team in the first place. -

Its a pity but looking at the bigger picture stock cars at Lynn are arguably what has funded the speedway progressing from the safety of PL to the much more expensive situation of both EL and NL sides operating at the Norfolk Arena. The income from stocks is considerable, and with the rain we had over here yesterday I can only imagine what state the circuit is in today. Like I said a great shame for all concerned but one of those unfortunate things which doesn't really warrant one or two OTT posts on this thread. -
Service station? What's one of those anyway looking forward to popping down to the Foxhole to have a little look at the Twitches at some point this year, once I can get in at the doctors for my jabs I'll be there

Out of interest, are they available for the general public to view and if so where? Just been onto the SCB website and the rules & regs on there are for 2011.

Gp In Auckland 2012
Bagpuss replied to Bradford Ace's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Could have sworn I saw 'gating tart' Bjerre sweep past Freddie Also funny how Noddy doesn't have the speed from the word go and its fine yet Bjerre has two engine failures and gets chastised for not being able to get past Bunyan on what looked like a moped anyway prejudices aside I thought it was a very good GP with some great racing after the initial round of heats. Would have liked to have seen a little more grip but was the best GP I've seen for a good while so hats off to everyone. And on a final note I hope Bjerre's bikes are just as reliable on Friday -
And Armadale, plus a decent season at Belle Vue in 2007.
-
Kevin also has a bit of a history of tinkering with his bikes when its not necessary, from memory he had spells in both 2005 & 2006 where he went from looking really quick and scoring well to being very sluggish because of making changes which weren't necessary in an effort to get a little bit more out of his machines. Listening to Chris Louis will probably see him stick at least a point on his average in 2012. If he doesn't then Lewis is right and the injury he sustained in 2010 probably means he'll not be a PL top liner again.

Yet another example of why independent governance of the sport is desperately needed.
