World Cup Race Off - 18th July 2013
Bagpuss replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The BSPA are reaping what they sowed when they didn't let Rob carry out his long term vision unfortunately. Not sure if he would come back with co promoting duties at Lynn but I'd be on the blower to him now. Next year people like Kennett, King and Barker should be nowhere near the squad.....get Cook and Worrall riding abroad every week and build the side around them with Tai and Bridger (not everyone's cup of tea I know but for me he has lots of natural ability and is still young enough). Have Lambert, Ellis, Howarth, Garrity, Birks, Kerr, Blackbird, Nielsen etc in and around the squad learning all the time......they won't all make the grade but give them the chance at least. Get Nicholls and Harris involved in some capacity, if they care about GB they'll buy into it. They have the experience and would be good coaches. Get the team practicing together regularly and riding tests home and away, get some team spirit going. And most importantly get some proper structure to under 15 racing, so that youngsters have more competitive track time. And start trying to recruit moto x riders at a younger age, this is where most of our prospects are coming from but we need to get to them earlier. -

At least Middlo would be getting something right -
Brits Not Supporting Team Gb
Bagpuss replied to Phil The Ace's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Its disappointing when British fans support other countries but each to their own, and if its because they are cheesed off at the way the sport is run in the UK and the way team GB has gone backwards as a result you can't really blame them in all honesty. I've never really done the whole favourite rider thing since Henka moved on from Lynn twenty years ago but many do and if their favourites ride for another nation and they don't really like any of team GB then you can see why they would support the other country. Its a great pity though. -
Who Should Be In Gb World Cup Team?

As I said I'd have stuck with him but you can see why they haven't. -

With all due respect I don't see how banging in a maximum at Redcar will prove anyone wrong. Cook is too good for the PL and has wasted a year for me by not riding abroad and doing the PL again instead. I would like to have seen Middlo stick with Cook for tomorrow but in any squad sport if you perform poorly you will get dropped, simple as that. I feel the changes have given us a good chance of getting to the final, lets hope the four selected can do the business. -

I think the main reason Cook failed last night was his unfamiliarity with the Lynn circuit and the set ups required. He hasn't ridden there this year yet and has only appeared twice in the last three seasons. He's never really looked comfortable there apart from in his NL days. Would have liked to see him ride on Thursday for the experience as he will be a star in the future but we need to go for the win as the Race Off is pretty open with no Noddy involved. -
Swc, Event Two, King's Lynn 15/7

It was, but so were the rounds at Lynn in 2010 and last year. Unfortunately last night and 2011 weren't. That's speedway I guess. -

You have a point about the exits from the car park, should have been organised better. As for Peterborough I'd be happy to see it go back there but having hosted it in 2009 one would assume that they aren't interested as it would surely have been held there since if they were. -

I think he needs to grow up a bit. -

That's the problem with people on here, tracks abdn riders are either diabolical and terrible. or brilliant. Never anything in between. Without bring dramatic the track was s little tricky until the first grade but was dine thereafter. No doubt lots of water was put down in the short timeframe after practice to get through twenty heats dust free in the evening which meant it was a little tricky early on. -

Also regarding the car parking I expect most other outdoor events in the UK this summer involve parking in a grass field and walking. Its not ideal but hardly unique to Lynn. -

The track wasn't diabolical at all, in fact after the first few races it was excellent considering the heat and the fact it had been practiced on in the afternoon. True it suits other countries more than us but I expect if another track applied to hold the event it might get moved. -

Cook looked outclassed tonight, think he has missed a trick in his development by doing the PL again this year rather than riding in foreign leagues, assuming of course that his hand wasn't forced. Just read on Twitter that he and Kennett have been dropped for Barker and Bridger, not a huge suprise in all honesty. Not a great meeting tonight for me, too many predictable heats although there were one or two decent races. -
I think Lynn use Robert Lambert when it suits Robert Lambert rather than when it suits Lynn. And why should he not ride in Germany at weekends? Far better for his development than NL.

Kerr is reserve for Newcastle at the Fours today. Looking at the updates from Leicester last night it seems like Worrall (guesting for Edberg) had a couple of falls so could have picked up a knock.

Where were Worrall and Rose?

King's Lynn V Mildenhall (nl) - 3rd July
Bagpuss replied to Mimmo's topic in National League Speedway
Lewis Rose is what the NL is all about, he has improved so much in a short space of time. I'm with semion, its more about rider development than winning at this level but beating your local rivals is always nice -

orion is right in that Kennett, Barker and King are much of a muchness but if the side is being chosen on form there's only one choice and thats Barker. He's hardly inexperienced either. Kennett is a strange and poor choice in that regard for me. Its a year too soon for Worrall IMO. -

Worrall but no Cook? Can't agree with that, or that you are judging Cook from a couple of rides on a ploughed field when he was a reserve.i Whoever is picked lets hope that the squad gets a practice session at Lynn some time before the meeting to give them the best chance. -
Parken Gp 2013
Bagpuss replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Zagar was unlucky IMO, he was in front and just using the racing line. Emil was also unfortunate, the margins are inches and split seconds and on another day he'd have squeezed through or not passed but stayed upright. One if those where, for me, nobody was really at fault and one where an 'all four back' rule which could be used at any point in a race would be useful. For that to work though you would need referees who will always make the tough decisions and not use any new rule as the easy option.......... -
Rye House V Somerset Saturday 29/06/13
Bagpuss replied to BossMan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Great effort by Somerset, although when you have strong heat leaders you always have a chance of a point. Gutted for Lewis Rose, he was really starting to look the part for the Young Stars.
