Peterborough v Sheffield - 21st Aug
Bagpuss replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Great heat 15, some really good races later on once the outside line developed. Just a pity it's so grippy low down early on. But still a wonderful speedway track and will be a great loss to the sport. -
Wolves v Witches Monday 21st Aug

Absolutely, clear as a bell when Rew went down. Like somebody said it happens everywhere but always seems much louder at Monmore, perhaps it's because they are particularly vociferous or because everyone stands on one straight. Don't like it though, even slide offs can cause injuries. -
And so it begins
-
He does but I think his team has finished.

Poole v Glasgow 23/8/23 Championship
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'd have said it's common sense to have teams with Danish riders in visiting during the Danish break and those without when Danish fixtures are on. Its only 8 home league meetings FFS, it shouldn't be hard. Many people are fed up to the back teeth of missing riders who aren't injured, it needs sorting. -

Basso and Vissing riding elsewhere? Which means the dreaded R/R and guest. More awful scheduling by whoever does the fixtures. Takes the shine off the meeting unfortunately. -
The BSPL have obviously blocked signings after the end of August to save face having been proved wrong by a lawyer last year. Quite why you would want more guests when they are one of the worst things about British Speedway is beyond me. St the very least they need to be restricted to riders from the bottom three sides in each league only.

Klindt is an enormous miss at the NSS and this is obviously going to be a bit of a hiding but as long as everyone rides like S Lambert did last Monday and gives it their all then we can't ask any more. Would be nice if Robert could get the better of Dan across their three clashes too!
-
Maybe it's Atkins? His scores have dried up recently. Would be incredibly harsh though.

Robert Lambert, play-off guest
Bagpuss replied to szkocjasid's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
They absolutely do. -
-
They are having to replace a rider who has stepped down. What are they supposed to do? I think they'll do well to find somebody on that average who will be an improvement.

You'd like to think that the vast majority would have the good sense not to boo. -
Robert Lambert, play-off guest

So essentially he could guest for Kurtz Doyle Sayfutdinov Holder Museilak Fricke Masters and one or two others with 5% home allowance by the look of it. -
Haha, the loss to Wolves was in a competitive fixture, although I can understand you not being interested in a competition that BV didn't take seriously

And Sheffield. -
He'd be absolutely fine. Sure I read somewhere that he had a small track in his back garden when he was young which he did thousands of laps around.
-
I suspect given time he could probably crack the smaller circuits on his second or third visits (assuming the application was there) but while acknowledging that Sayfutdinov is a more skilled motorcyclist I would argue that riding Ipswich, Leicester and Wolves for the first time won't be easy for any rider who has only ever ridden big fast tracks. I would also argue that big tracks do need skill, just a different type of skillset. Just because you aren't required to turn hard doesn't mean a track isn't technically challenging.

Am I missing something, why do folk think he's going to guest in the Play Offs?
