Workington V Ipswich Lc S/f 13/10
comet49 replied to dontforgetthefueltapsbruv's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Couple of things, Sneddon ......7 day rule. Also in heat 10 Ipswich had nominated a rider to take a tactical ride, thought they weren't allowed in KO Cup, there again I'm sure Jacko would know. Another frustrating night, bloomin' weather! -

Heavy rain not fat from track -
Can't remember him being great at Workington but obviously a racer and very entertaining. It must have been bad, the car crash he was in cos he was out for a while and it was good to see him come back. I know from following updates that the Berwick fans will certainly miss him, good luck in the future Lee.

Newcastle V Workington Sunday 14th
comet49 replied to scaramanga's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Keith has had it rough for the last 3 seasons. First there was the aftermath of the flood, crowds suffered because there was no bridge and some probably lost the habit and never came back. Last year we alone had a lot of rain offs and no doubt that affected crowd figures too, needn't mention the rain offs this season. He's put good teams together, we've been well placed in the league and still the crowds have dropped. This season after looking so promising went bagwash with the injuries but we still have chance of MORE silverware. I'm not saying he's perfect but he does have a point about people falling out with speedway. As for attendances Workington Reds' only had 386 for a FA Cup match last night. I just hope someone takes over and we have it next seaon -
I put it on here cos the play-offs were on here earlier, just stating what happens in another sport, other's were giving other ideas. Hopefully Rene can be a Comet next year, never been to Newcastle yet so won't comment on track. "2 outta 3 ain't bad"

I think it should be a different trophy, Grand Final, maybe. Putting the league leaders straight into the final deprives them of income. Workington 's rugby league team finished 3rd in their division and beat Whitehaven who finished 4th. Barrow, 2nd beat Doncaster who finished top, but because they finished top (or in the top 2, I think) Doncaster got another chance, and beat Workington at Doncaster. They then played Barrow in the Final. These aren't two leg of course but it does give the higher placed teams a better chance. The top 4 were promoted but that's another thing ain't it.

Like it or not the fact is Newcastle aren't the League Champion and anyone looking at a list of Premier League winners in a few years time won't see their name. In my mind they should be, top over the season when everything luck, injuries etc supposedy balance out. Newcastle though, like everone else knew what the rules were at the start of the season. Leeds have just won Superleague in Rugby League for the second year running after finishing 5th for the second year running. As said I agree with you but it matters not.

Pity you find it fit to joke about Auty, Ingalls is still injured and likely to be so for a while. I like Auty, good rider and exciting to watch. In that incident he was rash and impatient, it needn't have happened. I had a good view and it's the worst crash I've seen and I was going in the 70's. I hope you don't see one of your rides similarly injured, it's not nice.

The Comets couldn't use one cos they weren't 10 pts behind until heat 12 and none can be used after that. -

Can't remember, can B/W helmet be used in this, hope not! -
Agree Scarra that the rules should be enforced for all clubs, if it's 28days then it's 28 days for everyone, not some.

Well said!

Agreed but tonight they were expecting to use R/R, I believe the dispute is that Glanz has said he's not not been paid.

Spoiled as a contest when Barker dropped out and them having to use a Nat League rider at 4. Still some good racing though and plenty passing, someone said in the bar that Fisher hasn't been the same since he crashed into the boards a few week ago. Not a good night for the Plymouth fans who made the long journey.

Leicester V Workington (koc) 19/08/12

This does seem to be dragging on, never been to Leicester but with Somerset and Scunthorpe tracks around I thought they would at least have got the shape right. -

Thanks for that, while I'm here, on Comets unofficial last night that doctors have told Kenny that along with injuries already reported he also has 3 more broken vertebrae and a badly broken shoulder. Terrible for the lad -

I remember Ritchie with us, I think Graham Drury signed him. He was going well and looked a racer til he got a head injury. That finished his season and he's had other injuries since and didn't do well on his last visit. I hope he gets his career going again, he has the talent. -

Richard's form has dipped at home as well, hopefully he'll get it sorted.
