Workington v Redcar 10/05/25 3pm BSN series
Marksman replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It was at that Scott Nicholls night in the Waverley and he was cheekily asked about one day riding for the club, he was very complimentary about the set-up and promotion etc. and loves coming up here to walk the fells. He said something along the lines of he loves it at Oxford but never say never if the opportunity came up. Probably just being nice, but not one to rule out. Shame he might not be back until July or so. -

I get that, probably should have stayed clear of both. Not many number 1ās available now though, a few of them have dropped the league in the past few seasons to go onto bigger and better things. As it stands who is available?, Palm Toft? Schlein? New 5 point rider? Someone in the 3.liga? Nicholls seemed keen on the idea at the Waverley night in March, guessing heās no where near fit yet though. Names please š -

Bowes doesnāt need replaced, thereās a good rider in there with time. Only Batchelor does, get him replaced now before the Edinburgh meeting. Bring in a scoring number 1 and we will slowly become quite competitive this season, iām sure of it. Decent racing, and wins at home is least we ask for, not every season can be a play off team. Antti was unfortunate today with 2 tumbles but rode very well, Tate likewise seems to have the speed but canāt get out of the gate. There was a decent number 1 in attendance today, same he was shipped off to Berwick š«£ -
Redcar probably have the best top 3 in league and the worst bottom 3, so probably more of this to come.

Edinburgh v Workington KO Cup 18th April 2025 7.30pm
Marksman replied to eide67's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yeah the radar looks grim now, but thereās still an easterly wind hopefully blowing it back over to the west. Canāt see a Friday night gap in the calendar for a while if it is to be rerun as the 2nd leg -
I think Fraser will surprise a few, he likes the technical tracks. Tate will probably struggle. Iām sure Antti got the hang of the track after a few rides last time and won a heat, hopefully we wonāt have too much to claw back on Saturday.

On the Cook subject, it's all just speculation. Nobody who I spoke to on Saturday at the Pairs had any clue what's happening with him, and these are people who would usually know. Last I saw of him on social media he was out in the lakes in February time with Dan Bewley and others on BMX bikes. Hope the guy is okay. -

I read he has nerve damage in his back. I'm guessing he will be back at somepoint, but if that's not for the start of the season, I'm guessing Berwick will be relying on having a guest facility for Cook and 75% facility replacement for Kildemand? -
League Riders Championship 6th April 3pm (Scunthorpe)
Marksman replied to bez's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Itās unique for sure, must be the bumpiest track in the league. Have a bad back just from watching it. Itās motocross like surface and shape probably just create the close racing. Never been my favourite track to watch racing at to be honest. -

I think it's probably a case of Berwick can't communicate what they don't know. They probably don't want throw him under a bus and come out and say "we haven't actually been able to speak to Craig, he won't respond" Like SteelShoe says Worky had the exact same problems last year prior to the season and later on during the season. Fortunately for Workington he did turn up to 70% of meetings, performed when there and we could get a decent guest when he wasn't there. He was never going to return in 2025 -
The Tigers will be the team to beat, Dan Thompson is going to be one of the best riders in the league in my opinion. He's on an upward curve like Tom Brennan onto bigger things. Shame he isn't in the Championship pairs next week! Freddie Hodder may struggle away but will go well around Ashfield to up his average. Max Perry will struggle, not that it'll matter, he could score zero from 3 rides every week and the Tigers could still win the league.

The winter improvements at the GT tyres arena are fantastic, fans visiting for the Championship pairs next week will notice some major improvements from last season including dedicated toliet blocks, food huts, 1st/2nd bend disabled ramps, Cafe on the 1st bend including an extended balcony, a permanent referees box, the viewing area that now spans across the whole 3rd and 4th bend and a brand new FIM A+ rated air fence to name a few. It's remarkable what's been done in a short space of time from nothing! š Also you can now walk around the whole arena because of the work to create a new viewing area on bends 3 and 4.

Grand Prix Ticket Sales
Marksman replied to Beercellar1966's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The discrepancy between the seating and standing tickets is what surprises me, having been to BV many times and viewed from both the North and South stand, I actually prefer the South standing. So £69 is borderline just about acceptable to go on the Friday night. Is it a case of profiteering or is this the hard facts of the prices how expensive the sport is to run, who knows?! But it will most likely sell out first time around. Not sure about the longevity of the event at those prices however. The one positive for me is if you just do one meeting I can travel there and back in a day, which isn't possible with Cardiff. Loads of cheap hotels outside the city though. -
There was a reason why the Workington promotion choose Batchelor over Cook, and was always going to be the right call. Was hundreds of social media comments at the time questioning why he wasn't going to be back at the Comets, but Andrew and Steve knew best. Don't think Leicester will be affected too much, but for Berwick it will be a disaster

Eurosport, terrible professionalism.
Marksman replied to Odds On's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I've had Discovery+ Premium for a while through my £30 a month EE sim only contract, which includes the current Eurosport channels and TNT sports. Just had a look and you can sign up today for a new unlimited data and free roaming SIM contract for £29 a month. Includes Discovery+ Premium and TNT. Always found this a great way to combine phone+TV -
Exactly, just like when it was announced that Workington would be running an NDT side, was which never ever agreed. BSPL office should never have announced both of these to make both Poole and Workington look bad.

Released at 9am tomorrow

Only rode 6 league meetings last year, 4 in Poland 2nd tier and 2 in Sweden, didn't sound like a good move to Lodz, I know Cookie had problems when he signed for them way back too. Was 2023 that he averaged 8 in the 3rd tier, has returned back there for 2025. Good signing, and refreshing seeing so many new and returning riders in 2025. Would guess he will be a 7-7.5 point average rider at the very least, would of said more but allowing for learning new tracks. Will probably fly round Northside in the opening KO cup match š«¢
