Swc Event 1 King's Lynn 26/07/14
Bash replied to Bagpuss's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You beat me to it this proves nothing as lots of people take photos of the victory parade. I was on the back straight and I didn't see any red lights so how Mark Lemon did from in the pits I don't know. Again if it did happen why was there no announcement over the pa to warn people not to use them. -
Looks like we are going to need a guest for Richie on Thursday at home and Friday at Somerset as been confirmed that he will be with the rest of the World Cup squad in Poland. If USA go out on Thursday will Gino make it back for Friday.

You have just confirmed what I stated earlier in this thread why you are defending his actions. -

Star Fever wrote Well like the rest of us maybe he was totally bemused, and honestly thinking the red lights had come on and presumably expecting the other riders to stop also. He probably thought the ref himself had accidentally flashed them - in which case I'd guess he was expecting a rerun. As for walking across the track to pit gate if it was after the riders had passed on the 4th lap, what is the problem? As for the camera incident I thought you were referring to that also, as you weren't specific. Read my original post above, I couldn't be more specific. As for standing by the pit gate what if there was a close finish and riders clashed going over the line and came off (it has happened before) and collected Ward at the same time. I wasn't bemused in heat 18 it looked like his bike was starting to pack up. He could have carried on as he was still in third at the time and probably could've got back past Gino, but as I said it looked like his bike was packing up. How many times have we had riders thinking they have seen a red light and slowed down only to see the other riders carrying on. It's not right by the fans who do this but it happens. If he was that adamant that he had seen a red light why wasn't an announcement made regarding this to the fans. If there was maybe Ricky Wells wouldn't have had the problem in the last race. -

If he was soon on the centre and out of the way why was the race stopped! Because he had stopped his bike sideways on the home straight and only moved when the red lights came on. What excuse have you got for him walking across the track to the pit gate when the race was going on earlier then. I'm an Ipswich fan by the way and couldn't give a toss if he is a Poole rider, Ipswich rider or a Brit. He was in the wrong. Where did I bring up about the camera incident, never, it was about his actions on the track. -

Does this happen at King's Lynn all the time or was it a one off for this meeting regarding the food and drink? This is the first year at this meeting that they have stopped you taking food and drink in. Last year they stopped you taking in the free Monster Energy drink cans (and they sponsor the meeting!) in but you could take in plastic bottles and food. So no, we didn't know the conditions beforehand, even at Cardiff I have taken drinks in but they remove the plastic lids from the bottles. -

Yes they were checking everyones bags just before the ticket barrier and there were signs stating that no personal food or drink to be taken into the stadium where you purchased your tickets. This was the first we knew about this. I took a friend of mine who had had a stroke earlier this year and he is only allowed to eat and drink certain things at the moment, and we had to persuade the people inspecting the bags to allow him past with his food and drink items and they did in the end but were reluctant to at first. -

Pretty disgusting that on such a hot day that they stopped people bringing their own food and drink into the stadium. When we got in the stadium they were announcing over the pa system that as it is such a hot day make sure you drink plenty of fluids to keep you hydrated, and if you spot people in distress call the first aid people immediately. They wouldn't have a problem if they let people bring in their own drinks. What if people haven't got the money to buy more drinks, you are putting people in danger. Just another money making scheme which isn't a good one. -

Are you defending his actions then as he is an ex King's Lynn rider. He needs to grow up and facing a punishment for his actions might make him. -

Ward should be banned for the rest of the world cup with his actions on the night. When he broke down in heat 11 he walked across the track and stood by the pit gate still on the track as the race was still going on. Then in heat 18 parking his bike on the home straight and getting the race stopped because he lost his dummy on bend 4. Two times putting himself and his fellow riders at risk by his actions. He needs to grow up big time and stop being a petulant little brat. Not a good example when he is supposed to be the team captain. -

Good all round team performance tonight, lets hope this is the start of the run to the end of season because this is what we know they are capable of but have to show it on a more consistant basis. The Aussie Hunter Anderson looked impressive after the meeting too, looked quick. Maybe should look at him for next year. -

Well he wasn't when he rode through Richie Worrall in heat 1 and twice through Gino Manzares in heat 5. -
Greenwood was injured but they didn't bring in a temporary replacement they bought in a permanent one which may be an issue to bring him back in.

Gino didn't crash on purpose either, I think his engine blew going into the turn which caused him to fall. Strange decision to exclude Gino when Wolbert wiped him out for the second time as probably worst contact than when Tony Steele called all four back the first time. Tapes weren't being held especially long just think wind was blowing them slightly causing riders to jump. How many times in a rerun does the result always go the other way, heat 14 for Glasgow, Heat 8 for Ipswich. Hope Christian is okay and is just only a concussion. Congrats to Glasgow on their first away points of the year. Back to the Ipswich team you can see where the meeting was lost. Numbers 6 & 7, Glasgow had two reserves who haven't got a great record at Ipswich, but put in a great performance to totally out perform our two. We are 1.72 below the team limit and if we replaced one of the reserves with up to a 6.2 - 6.5 rider we could get Ritchie back to reserve which would make us stronger. After this month we might have more points to play with. -
Don't think we'll get a podium position tomorrow. Our group is by far the toughest with the other group missing Craig Cook & Ben Barker from their pairs.
-
I think you have that round the wrong way it's R/R for Rasmus Jensen and Taylor Poole guesting for Kyle Newman.
-
Yes but he was every time he rode against us in the past. It's just that dreaded Ipswich number 1 jacket that seems to have a negative effect on the riders.
-
Glory Hunter!!!
-
So Ben Barker has declared himself fit to race, R/R for Kyle Newman and Plymouth are waiting for news on Rasmus Jensen so there might still be one change. Ipswich should win, but should be some entertainment now that Barker is riding.
-
Hey Shadders looks like you have time travelled a hundred years!!! Tracks Visited 2114!!!! Good to see speedway still running.
-
We know it's not the first time, he has said it when being interviewed but John Cook has never let him. Let's hope this gives him a boost and he can get back to what we know he can do.
-
Adam Roynon says he's hoping to be back Thursday, can't see Rasmus Jensen riding if he had concussion at Newcastle as I thought you had to have a week off if that happened. Plymouth are waiting on more news on Barker & Newman before naming their team.
-
I just noticed that on the King's Lynn preview. I wonder why John Cook has agreed to this as he is already missing Peter Karlsson and they have Thomas Jorgensen guesting at number 5, putting Simon Lambert in weakens them even more. When Adam asked to ride for Ipswich at Somerset John Cook flatly refused so why the change of heart. Is the King's Lynn match a re-arranged one?
-
Well this meeting could be a Witches select v Devils select. With Richie Worrall breaking toes after his altercation with the Foxhall fence and Adam Ellis riding for Lakeside at King's Lynn, that's two guest for the Witches. I notice on the Somerset press release for the pairs on Friday that Rohan is shown with Morten for Ipswich. The Devils have even more injury concerns after their meeting at Newcastle yesterday with Ben Barker, Rasmus Jensen & Kyle Newman all being withdrawn. With them already using RR for Adam Roynon they could have up to three guests. As no team lineups have been released yet from either club time will tell who lines up and who doesn't.

Don't think this current Edinburgh team wouldn't even touch the Hackney Kestrels team of 1988 who won 26 of their 30 league matches and won the koc as well. Team was Andy Galvin, Mark Loram, Chris Louis, Alan Mogridge, Paul Whittaker, Barry Thomas & Garry Rolls.
