Perfect race tracks is the amount if dirt not the size or speed. You are more likely to get better meetings at Peterborough then Lakeside but I've seen some poor meetings at Peterborough like when Ipswich were there the Panthers gated and were gone boring processional racing. On the flip side I saw an outstanding meeting at Eastbourne with Lorsm and the Karlssons with lots of passing and re passing all meeting. I know what I would rather watch. Track prep is important you only have to look at Pooles ploughed field and at times dangerous track to realise that

Correct it is about opinions this forum but surely if you have an opinion you have to have some facts to back it up. I can take the argument for Hampel but Ward there is no reason what so ever to say he was the best last year.

how the heck did Middlo last then coz he picked the wrong team twice and speedway fans know his motivational skills are zero. Seems like a nice guy and a yes man unlike Rosco who has more British pride and determination than Middlo had. ( unless your an Aussie)

not a poisoned chalice at all but with our pool of riders we should be ahead of Latvia and the USA but Middlo was pretty clueless and made mistake after mistake in selections and he isn't exactly a good motivator. We don't expect to get near to winning the World Cup but we shouldn't be any lower then 5 th in my mind behind the poles Danes swedes and Aussies. Can't see Rosco being as inept as Middlo

doubt he will pick Kennett when everybody else knew it was wrong

Because a match race would decide who is best I don't think so! In races there's 4 riders so if as usual Ward missed it he may be 3rd Or 4th into the first bend and Tai would be gone. Just the 2 of them and Darcy will be in his back wheel out if the 2nd bend and with his talent could pass Tai though that is certainly not a guarantee. What I find hilarious is how Shovlar commented on page 2 of this thread how me and Brum were wrong and that people didn't agree. 8 pages of almost every fan saying Tai was better last year and the troll is back under his bridge!

i know that the year had gone suggest you read the thread title! And correct nobody predicted Tai's season but what that has to do with the topic I don't know as we are saying Darcy IS a potential world champ but he needs to change a lot if things mainly grow up a but both on and off the bike just like Holdet and Tai have done.

The thread is who was the worlds best rider in 2013. Quite clearly on all facts it's not Darcy Ward. He needs to improve this year to overtake Tai. Nobody is saying he can't do that. It's nothing to do with who you want to watch and for what it's worth I would rather watch Ward then Woffinden but we are not talking entertainment here are we but results and Tai is ahead that's not even opinion. Keep trying to twist it blue tints but not one if you has said Tai was the better rider last year which shows how biased you are on here best post on this thread. Trouble is that some argue that Darcy will win it 2014 as there proof. This is about 2013 and as proved its one way traffic unless you are from Poole where they can't admit anything that isn't in their clubs favour. For what it's worth I think Holdet will finish above Ward this year and unless Darcy has sorted out his attitude like Tai did and can actually learn to gate on slicker tracks then I feel top 3 is best he can hope for

Well my thread had bought a lot of discussion and surprise surprise its only Poole fans that don't think Tai was the best rider in the world last year. Can't believe Mr Shovlar hadn't commented as he was adamant it was only me and Stevebrum who felt this way! Come on Shovvy come on the thread and tell everyone else they are wrong as well. Or will you stay in hiding\ on holiday/ at work / computer not working any excuse. It is opinion but the facts say Darcy isn't at Tai's level and I would guess that 95% of the fans on here agree( we don't count children by the way argotron)

no you are the one who tries and fails to force opinion. All I can do is point the facts and if people ignore them that's up to them but to totally disregard them is just plain daft. Some on here have put 5 riders ahead of Ward you must be going crazy waving your arms about at that but yet you just pick on mine and brums posts all the time like a broken record. Talent doesn't always equal the best or most successful except in your blinkered world otherwise Kelly Moran Joe Screen and Mark Loram as examples would have won an awful lot more no point discussing with Shovlar is there Brum! Lives in his own little blue and white world and isn't exactly what you would call a knowledgable speedway fan

I'm not going on opinion. My opinion is that Darcy Ward is the most talented motorcyclist out there but he isn't yet the better all round package. The stats show he isn't that's all. Jimmy White and Alex Higgins were far more talented than Steve Davis but won nowhere near as much and Ward could be in that bracket or he could win in 2014 but gating attitude and not to over ride are 3 areas he has to work on. No doubt about it Ward is the most exciting rider to watch and you would gladly pay to watch him but it doesn't make you the best i started this thread to get the topic off the Poole thread. One Poole fan said only 2 people think Tai had a better year and I wanted to see if that was true or if as usual he was talking rubbish

he would have been higher and wouldnt have won it. A fully fit Ward was averaging around 7 when he got injured so he still wasnt as good as the others whatever way you look at it. That's not to say 2014 won't be his year but if he keeps making those poor starts when the pressure is on in the semis it could be a struggle for him

As it clogged up the Poole thread thought I would set one up. Only Poole fans seem to believe Darcy was the better rider so just want to get a true reflection please as one certain fan thinks only myself and Stevebrum think this way. definition of a good speedway track is simple....must have dirt. Just because a track is fast like Peterborough doesn't mean it's good racing. Two evenly matched sides makes a good meeting. Ive seen some shockers at Peterborough as well as Lakeside and Eastbourne. Watch PK and Darcy at Lakeside and over the years Loram and Dugard at Lakeside and Eastbourne. Just because tracks are fast the racing looks better but many times I've seen the Panthers gate and go and it's boring. 2 even teams on a track with dirt will lead to good racing irrelevant of track size

Think we are destined for a place in the play offs personally. Newcastle , Berwick , Somerset , Workington and my surprise packages Rye House look good to me and I'm going for a shock league winners in Berwick

Testimonials are thrown out like confetti. Stay 10 years at 1 club like Louis did and you deserve one. Move around a lot then not so. Loram never had a testimonial but had a farewell meeting. Kasprzak doesn't deserve one. Grieves at Glasgow and Lindgren certainly did

I'm happy with that team. People expecting big things from Gino but he may need time. Key for me is Adam needs to kick on like Heeps did and riding for Lakeside will help him no doubt
