Peterborough V Edinburgh 20/7/14 5pm
Gavan replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
you sound like a Poole fan. Its not jealousy get a grip of yourself. You come on the threads and act smug and take the rise out of the other clubs and their fans because you are on an unbeaten run. You get beat and people give it back and then you cant take it. Grow up a bit man Do i believe Cook is a bit of an idiot..............yes Do i believe Cook is a good rider..............yes Do i believe Cook will not get any better than he is now ...............yes My opinion you dont have to agree. He is a top class premier league rider and does ok in the elite league. Lets face it we are poor as a nation at the moment and he isnt in the top 4 for the world cup. He got hugely found out at Cardiff. I just think he has reached his level -

Tai Woffinden's Views On Single Night Racing In Uk
Gavan replied to clambo71's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I really dont get why people on here do not realise that one race night WONT AND CANT happen. It would not be viable to a lot of clubs and it gives no guarantee whatsoever that the top boys would come back. It would be a massive risk to try and it could kill the sport completly. The only way forward is a squad system and it doesnt need to be evry rider catered for. The top 2 in the averages in each team could be filled by 2 riders each. i.e the riders at 1 and 5. For example Poole could have Ward/Holder and say Lindback/Pawlicki This means that the top boys and the management could get together to ensure who rides where (horses for courses) thus stopping burn out of the top boys -

im an ipswich fan and yes he rode through Worrall in heat one and was rightly excluded. However in heat 5 both times 3 riders got there together Wolbert did nothing wrong, Gino had nowhere to go and slid off twice. Nobody should have been excluded at all in either running -

Gino's engine did blow and ref had no option but to put red lights on as air fence had moved. As i said on the pairs thread. Wolbert went wide and Gino ended up in the second bend fence first time round. Unlike the pairs Tony Steele saw sense and put all 4 back. In the re run 3 riders got there together and Gino went down the exclusion was wrong. We were lucky to get a point. Wolbert being a tad hard on Worrall in heat 1 and getting excluded. Thomsen messing up bend 4 last lap letting Gino through. Henry and Harrison excluded for tape touching. (yes so were Tungate and Gino but Gino passed both) Henry crashing while in a scoring position. Glasgow on a 5-1 in heat 14. Gino falls , Cam wins re run. All we had was one bad decision (Gino's) The reserves are costing us big time -

Well done Glasgow great point and hope Henry is ok. Now on to our sorry septet. In my opinion ref wasn't holding tapes to long at all. The decision to exclude Wolbert was correct. The decision to exclude Gino was wrong but win some you lose some. Worrall never really looked that quick. Richie H ride well including some clever first bends. Morten was solid and dependable as is usually the case. Gino wasn't his usual self great ride to get 2nd off 15 metres before harshly excluded then baling out in heat 14. Tungate had bike issues but looked quick when beating Wolbert in heat 13 and I would have had him in heat 15. Cam was poor until popping out in heat 14. Ellis needs to work on his starts, did anyone else notice he couldn't keep his front wheel down at all off the line? For the tigers Wolbert looked class and Thomsen looked useful to. -

ok so you are rubbishing everyones suggestions yet coming up with nothing yourself! come on add something decent to the debate and we can mock you ok put in the Garritys and the Kerrs and watch them be thrashed. its no good for there development at all. let them get better at elite league by moving up and getting in the main body or even a heat leader role first. by all means have them around but not in the 4! People moan about a lot of the draft riders being out of their depth and not helping their careers yet are quite happy for our World Cup team to be the same -

Lambert possibly on a par but Lawson isnt in my eyes. Just think Barker is a better option than Stead good reasoning! 90% of people on here are saying it shouldnt be Stead at Lynn. Barker is my choice as the 4th rider and i agree there is a case for Cook but his form has dipped at the moment, and possibly Lambert. Nobody else should even get a sniff of being in the 4 -

no thats why i suggested Barker! yes me. Did he top score in the British Final on a track he hates...............Yes Did he finish ahead of Harris in the final and but for an error would have been 2nd................Yes Did he do well at Lynn in the World Cup a few years back............Yes Has he experianced this level................Yes Will he give 110% ..........................Yes Please come up with any reason why you think he shouldnt be in the 4? ok so who do you suggest? I cant believe some fans? Is the idea to do the best we can or put the kids in and get stuffed? The strongest 3 are Tai , Harris , and King and if Scott was available he would be in and that would be the best 4 we have who could make the final. What rubbish to put a Kerr or Garrity in the 4! By all means i want them round the squad to get experiance but they should be miles away from the team. Same goes for Lambert at this stage of his career. He will be ready and more accomplished next year. The only bone of contention is the 4th rider. Stead,Cook, Barker are about the same level but round Lynn i would have Barker. Do we want something to shout about with the possibility of making a final or get beat by the usa again? Come on people get behind your country! -

Cook isnt good enough at this level proved time and again. I agree that Stead is a backward step but apart from Stead and Barker who else is there? Do we want to do as good as we can or put the kids in and get humiliated? That will do them wonders! Not bitterness he is just stating the facts -

I agree should have Ben Barker round Lynn -
ive read some daft stuff on here but do yourself a favour mate and get off the forum if you are going to make daft statements. you obviously are not a fan of the sport if you think Hancock is a cause of the sport not being popular.

Anybody you admire that doesnt ride for Poole lol In all seriousness Holder 'grew up' and now maybe Darcy might slowly do the same. It was good to see him ride with his head at Cardiff for a change as usually he would be winding it all on hitting ruts and coming down. Maybe his earlier fall made him realise he had to respect the track for a change.

you would know all about gating tarts being a Monarchs fan! How anyone can begrudge Greg his win is beyond me. If you are going to moan bout Greg being a gating tart then how many races did Tai win from the back then? Getting out of the second bend in front is 95% of a speedway race and both Greg and Tai do that more than anyone hence they are pulling clear in the championship. Oh and did you not see Greg go past Darcy a couple of gp's ago? He can pass when the track allows. As for Cook he will never get to this level
-
Well done Greg! All the Hancock moaners that he is boring really don't know there sport the man is a legend. Tai done us proud again. What was also good to see was Darcy using his head more as the track rutted up. If he keeps doing that he could become a challenger but he needs Tai and Greg to have bad ones. The racing was poor but atmosphere electric

nothing to do with a sense of humour just that its adding nothing to the debate to write sarcasm and try to be clever

if you havent got anything of value worth saying then keep quiet. Your posts are bordering on pathetic and tiresome

Ive been watching Speedway since 1976 and it can only be those who watch through rose tinted specs that think this Edinburgh side is better than the Newcastle side of 1982. They had 6 heat leaders in that side

How much experiance have Kerr and Blackbird had at pl not much! Garrity isnt going to get much better and i doubt Blackbird will at his age. Lets put the Rookies in and see them half a lap behind!! By all means have the likes of Lambert and Kerr around the pits but they should not be in our top 4 by a long chalk. I will be stunned if Garrity or Blackbird ever make a team gb top 4 riders. -

Wheres Kennett???????? Lol good old Middlo Anyways i would have picked the same squad bar 2. Tai, Harris and Cook are 3 certaintys to start with by some way in my opinion King and Barker are the next 2. I then think Stead is fully deserving of being next in line on form this season. Bridger would then possibly be next. That leaves 3 spaces. Kerr deserves to be in there. Then for the last 2 i would have had Lambert and Garrity. It shows how bleak the future is when we have 3 fast track riders in Kerr, Blackbird and Garrity fighting out for a place in the top 10 brits. The problems of British speedway run very deep. I remember British Finals in the 90's where if a National League rider got there they were either a supreme young talent. (Loram and Louis spring to mind) or simply having a good semi final (Martin Goodwin for example) Now we are talking about a GB squad where we have to go to riders like Garrity ( premier league reserve earlier in the season) and Blackbird (not even a heat leader in the premier and not the future either) to make a squad up! Its a poor state of affairs -

Gavan replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
we are not talking bout the past we are discussing now and MJJ has not gone on from that win. He had falling down the pecking order bit like Janowski. 2 years ago both were on the verge of gp wild cards now they have dropped back behind riders like Kildemand the 2 pawlickis and Dudek to name 4. By your reckoning Harris deserves a place as he has been national champion and won a Grand Prix. Right now forget what he has won riders have improved past MJJ
