  1. i have yes in the middle of blinking nowhere the track is!!!!
  2. My top 12 from riders ive seen from 80 onwards when i started watching the sport. Peter Collins Morton Lee Carter Wigg Tatum Loram John Louis Jessup Nicholls Havelock Cox
  3. what is it with Workington fans and bitterness to all other clubs?
  4. still not sure lol is it the Ward pub fighting connection?
  5. Cant believe what i am reading here! Tony Rickardsson was just a gater what a load of tosh!!!! He was supreme out of the starts that is true but if like me you had the pleasure to watch him week in week out he was scintillating when missing the gate. 1994 World Final when he passed Nielsen in the run off. Cardiff gp riding the wall of death on the first bend Seriously people get a grip
  6. Well if you finish second in all your races i reckon you would be world champ.
  7. Loram couldnt gate but won a world crown so a lot depends on making clever moves in the first bend which both Loram and Darcy seem able to do. Jan O' wasnt a good starter but when he won his world crown he made 5 fantastic gates
  8. These ' who was the best' lists always come up with different answers as to who people have seen. I started going in 1982 so i wouldnt count anyone i havent seen even though the records of Fundin, Briggs and Mauger are obviously better then anyone apart from Rickardsson. My top 8 based on who i have watched: Gundersen Nielsen Jan O' Pedersen Rickardsson Ermolenko Jonsson Loram ( just for entertainment value alone) Crump
  9. The sad fact is that there are probably only 3 riders in the elite league i would pay to watch. The elites leagues best 2 riders in Woffy and Iversen and then Darcy for the entertainment. Gone are the days when you could get excited for elite league matches. I remember going to Foxhall watching Tony and Gollob and Ermolenko and Correy or Hancock and Hamill . There would be 5 or 6 races a meeting where you would look forward to the racing. Now each team seems to have an out and out number one (Ward, Zagar, Tai, Iversen, for example) who should walk all over other riders in 99% of matches. Lets hope the race format means Tai and Ward will meet 4 times. Who wants to see Ward against Wells for example
  10. Does show you the way the sport has declined over the years but do you think anyone on question in sport in 1992 would have known Havvy or in 2000 known Loram? I doubt it
  11. Rosco is a better motivator then Middlo that is without doubt. He wont just pick his favourites like Middlo did (Kennett) when the WHOLE speedway world knew it was wrong. He wont throw in riders at the last minute (Barker, Bridger) for an important meeting. He wont discard a rider after one poor meeting (Cook) who is a better rider than Bridger or Barker. Middlo made mistake after mistake but unless you are in Poole you don't think that. How can we come behind Latvia and USA and that be ok under Middlo but if Rosco does it its worth a sacking!!! Doesn't make sense!!
  12. he cant handle truth or facts and basically Poole is poorly prepared but its anti-poole if i say it
  13. sorry while I stop laughing! Cook can only ride 3 tracks! Yes he is a bit older but still learning. Danny King is a good rider but better than Cook I'm not sure. Cook could achieve a higher average than Nicholls this year. He is the level of a third heat leader in the elite league. Averaged more than Doyle in the premier oh and averaged more than Janowski so that makes Magic a second string does it! its called shovlar logic it's different to anyone else's
  14. name me 4 better riders then? Course Cook is good enough what a ridiculous statement then again he doesn't ride for you. Had a bad meeting at Lynn but he is still learning
  15. Perfect race tracks is the amount if dirt not the size or speed. You are more likely to get better meetings at Peterborough then Lakeside but I've seen some poor meetings at Peterborough like when Ipswich were there the Panthers gated and were gone boring processional racing. On the flip side I saw an outstanding meeting at Eastbourne with Lorsm and the Karlssons with lots of passing and re passing all meeting. I know what I would rather watch. Track prep is important you only have to look at Pooles ploughed field and at times dangerous track to realise that
  16. Correct it is about opinions this forum but surely if you have an opinion you have to have some facts to back it up. I can take the argument for Hampel but Ward there is no reason what so ever to say he was the best last year.
  17. how the heck did Middlo last then coz he picked the wrong team twice and speedway fans know his motivational skills are zero. Seems like a nice guy and a yes man unlike Rosco who has more British pride and determination than Middlo had. ( unless your an Aussie)
  18. not a poisoned chalice at all but with our pool of riders we should be ahead of Latvia and the USA but Middlo was pretty clueless and made mistake after mistake in selections and he isn't exactly a good motivator. We don't expect to get near to winning the World Cup but we shouldn't be any lower then 5 th in my mind behind the poles Danes swedes and Aussies. Can't see Rosco being as inept as Middlo
  19. doubt he will pick Kennett when everybody else knew it was wrong
  20. Brilliant news for British speedway as its confirmed Rosco is the new manager. At last we have a motivator in charge who won't just pick his buddies. Good Luck Alun!
  21. Because a match race would decide who is best I don't think so! In races there's 4 riders so if as usual Ward missed it he may be 3rd Or 4th into the first bend and Tai would be gone. Just the 2 of them and Darcy will be in his back wheel out if the 2nd bend and with his talent could pass Tai though that is certainly not a guarantee. What I find hilarious is how Shovlar commented on page 2 of this thread how me and Brum were wrong and that people didn't agree. 8 pages of almost every fan saying Tai was better last year and the troll is back under his bridge!
  22. i know that the year had gone suggest you read the thread title! And correct nobody predicted Tai's season but what that has to do with the topic I don't know as we are saying Darcy IS a potential world champ but he needs to change a lot if things mainly grow up a but both on and off the bike just like Holdet and Tai have done.
  23. The thread is who was the worlds best rider in 2013. Quite clearly on all facts it's not Darcy Ward. He needs to improve this year to overtake Tai. Nobody is saying he can't do that. It's nothing to do with who you want to watch and for what it's worth I would rather watch Ward then Woffinden but we are not talking entertainment here are we but results and Tai is ahead that's not even opinion. Keep trying to twist it blue tints but not one if you has said Tai was the better rider last year which shows how biased you are on here best post on this thread. Trouble is that some argue that Darcy will win it 2014 as there proof. This is about 2013 and as proved its one way traffic unless you are from Poole where they can't admit anything that isn't in their clubs favour. For what it's worth I think Holdet will finish above Ward this year and unless Darcy has sorted out his attitude like Tai did and can actually learn to gate on slicker tracks then I feel top 3 is best he can hope for
