Doubling Up - Should It Be Allowed?
Gavan replied to iand's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
There is way to much doubling up. Dont know the best way to stop it but riders like Doyle , Barker, Cook, Gracjonek, Morris, Tungate, Auty, Dyer for example are all premier heat leaders who need to be in one or the other. It should be there for riders like Kerr and Newman to go in to the elite league as a reserve to try and improve. -
im on your side! this forum should be about saying what you feel. tell the shovlar fella as well!
-
how i congratulated Poole on their title win! bent the rules to get there but the best team in the play offs. if its all right for one to write what they want then im sure as hell the rest of us can! I agree 'the know' does know a bit about speedway and does usually write decent stuff. but please Shovlar lol the man is just.............well words fail me. doesnt respond to discussions. attacks the poster on numerous occasions then is quick to tell others not to. thinks everyone is jealous of his club sore loser i could go on and on. the man brings no credability to your club and in fact is a big reason why Poole fans on here are unfortunatly tarred with the same brush
-
so its ok for you to say what you like but when i do Shovlar and others go nuts! Cant be one rule for one and a different one for another!
-
fact is you are not going to get 15 riders capable of a world title challenge. Jonsson is definatly , if free from injuries, amongst the top 15 in the world. Inconsistent maybe but definatly worthy of a place. As i said before who else should be in? If anyone says Dudek, Janowski, Jonasson or MJJ they need to realise that AJ is better then all those.

Pearson Defends The Play-off... Desperate
Gavan replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The Play offs are here to stay like them or not. Personally dont like them as it doesnt reward a seasons hard work. It massively favours the team in fourth IF that team has made drastic changes and stormed from miles back into the play offs. That team will have usually have a much stronger 1-7 then the team who finished top that is obvious. There is no doubt that whoever finished 4th this year Poole or Peterborough would have won the league. If Lakeside would hav held on they wouldnt have won the league. This isnt a dig at Poole as it happened to them back when Coventry beat them by a late run into 4th. Last year nobody came from miles back so Swindon rightfully won the league. The play offs do not favour the best team. Birmingham this season should be champions same as Poole should have been last year and 2010. All it shows is that you should build an average side then change it in June to a side that will get into the top 4. Consistency is not rewarded -
as you well know there was always going to be a token swede same as this year a token brit. Same as if no danes or poles make it (unlikely) there would be a token dane or pole. So if you dont agree with Jonsson then who? Lindgren is the ONLY other choice as a Swede. Lindback - disaster season PK - done it before time has gone at his age Ljung - not good enough Nermark - not good enough Jonasson - not good enough It was either AJ or Freddie and i think the organisers saw that AJ has won 4 gp's i think? May be wrong. Freddie only 1. AJ was world number 2 in 2011 Freddie always around 7-10 position. If you think there is a better swede then i would love to hear it. I dont agree that certain countries must have a rider but if so then i think Jonsson is correct!

Pearson Defends The Play-off... Desperate
Gavan replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
just winds me up when its the Darcy and Greg show like last night. All the swooning over how well Hancock was riding. He scored 5!!!!!!!! -
as ive said you wont convince him but he is entitled to his opinion. bit stuck in the dark ages. we could with the old style qualifying system have reached a world final this year where due to injuries it wouldnt have had: TAI, SAYFUTDINOV, HOLDER, GOLLOB, LINDGREN, JONSSON, NICKI PEDERSEN. But that would be fine we could have had Dryml and Ulamek and Walasek for example
-
And those were the 4 i mentioned a while back. Holder Gollob and Laguta were obvious just a toss up between Jonsson and Lindgren
-
dont agree with you on that. he has failed miserably to even get close to the series. just because he is young doesnt guarantee the right to be in it. Yes he won once but Zmarlik got to a final last year should he be in it? Dont agree with the 'have to have a swede' thinking but i think it will happen. Last place in my eyes should be Laguta
-
MJJ and Miedzinski won gp's in their home country not sure they would do anything anywhere else. I remember Gerd Riss making gp finals in Germany. Put a gp at Edinburgh and im sure Cookie would do well. You say about token riders but to be fair most people thought that of Tai and to a lesser extent Iversen and look what happened there!

Top 30 Riders In The World 2013
Gavan replied to waiheke1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
second division in Poland second string in a substandard elite league. based on this rationale then Ben Barker and Lewis Bridger must be in line for one. continual tripe coming from out of your mouth yet again! -
Top 30 Riders In The World 2013
Gavan replied to waiheke1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thj not in the top 50! yet there are still some on this forum who think he deserves a wild card lol -
finally you get that into your head!
-
Dakota North lol on a big ego trip and isnt as good as he thinks he is. Would like to see Barker stay. Not a big hitter like Doyle or Cook but boy do we get some good racing. Rohan should stay but needs to really step into a second heat leader role and put a point on his average. Risager im a bit bored with to be honest. To inconsistent and not moving forward. Although as stated has close links with the Louis family so will probably stay. Cam can develop into the third heat leader role Leigh would be good as a number 2 or 4 in the team. Will Adam stay? Another one who i feel needs to produce a bit more now he has had a full season and he may or may not. Think he would be better as the second reserve. We know Ritchie wont be staying. Let Risager and Hawkins go. As to who can replace them have to wait and see, i have no idea

mjj maybe thj not a chance

The gp is a far far better way of deciding the world champion. Various riders have been injured this season and could have missed qualifying rounds. Imagine a one off final without Holder, Ward, Jonsson, Woffinden, Gollob, Lindgren, Sayfutdinov, Nicki Pedersen. Great spectacle that would be. Yes injury can stop you being champion in the gp series as well. Holder and Sayfutdinov the obvious ones here. But it can also mean you can be injured for a fortnight miss a gp or ride throught the pain barrier and still be world champ. Munich 1989 showed what can happen with a few injuries to key riders
-
ok lets go back to the old style qualifiers like we used to have. lets say we have a season like this with riders injured for important rounds. thta means you could have (based on this year) a gp season without: HOLDER,SAYFUTDINOV,WARD, WOFFINDEN, GOLLOB, LINDGREN, JONSSON. You cant seriously be happy with that! Look at the World Final in Munich 1989. Most of the top boys were missing through injury. sorry but you are living in the dark ages if you think the current system of picking riders doesnt get you the best line up
-
do you make a habit of talking out of your derriere! are we talking about THJ the elite league second string? Lindgren has needed wild cards i agree but he is a better rider than Jonasson and so to is Andreas. Dont get the guff about new blood lets just get the best riders we can and Jonasson isnt even close. Good job that Tai and Hampel were given extra chances!!
-
exactly Niamh and not forgetting Ward who probably would have been top 5 without his injury. in fact the only wild card who struggled was Vaculik and even he had won a gp before. no the best way is have qualifiers and get dross in case people get injured
-
as much as i admire Freddie as a rider, i think they will go for Jonsson, just my opinion as long as its not Jonasson!
