Belle Vue National Stadium
New Science replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Firstly well done to the promotion for achieving planning permission, proper concrete news. For me this is where the hard work really starts, ensuring that the stadium is built to schedule and doesn't incur any additional, potentially crippling costs.Looking at the detail, still not sure how the promotion will manage to pay back in excess of 4 grand a week including the close season .There's no money to be made in British speedway any more ,not sure there is a market for corporate hospitality to watch Belle Vue and how much demand there will be for weddings overlooking a speedway track / hockey pitch. Before people jump on me just remember Waterden Road Hackney,a brand new stadium,(even held a GP) that went to the wall at a time when speedway and the economy were in a much healthier state. -

Financially Auckland has been a disaster and as for developing new venues,Tampere, track was awful and Riga less said about that the better ! -

Think we saw from last nights GP attendance that having 1 GP in Denmark next year in front of only 12,500 is underselling what is a major market in Denmark ! -

Other than being Swedish what has THJ done to 'almost certainly' get a wild card ? -
Belle Vue National Stadium
New Science replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Why is it unreasonable not to expect exactly what was planned for this facility ? ie A National Speedway Stadium which will hold world events with a potential capacity of over 15,000 with plentiful available track time to produce the potential stars of tomorrow ! That was what the public was encouraged to buy into with the 'buy a brick scheme' -

Since you've weighed into this debate as usual at the first sign of criticism of the NSS,can I quote you as guaranteeing that the National Speedway Stadium will be a venue that can hold World events with a capacity in excess of 10,000 and it will adequately provide the track availability required to train and mentor the best young talent in the country. -
Agree,as a youngster the things that hooked me were the noise, the smell and the speed. Now only the speed remains,I wouldn't be hooked now if I had just started watching the sport.Amazing how when the noise was reduced it also took the atmosphere with it, since 2011 the atmosphere has been like a morgue at most tracks, and its not coming back, another reason why the sport is in steep decline.

This is the rub for me,I am not a fan of Belle Vue but have taken an interest in the National Speedway Stadium as it was billed a 10,000 + venue being able to hold World events ,and as a base to give our best young riders ample track time to develop their skills. If this is now not the case then the promotion should come forward and admit this, fans have been asked to invest in this project as a national stadium not as just a new stadium for the Belle Vue Aces. -

Can't see this anywhere in the documentation ! -
Is interest so low that this match does not warrant a thread / preview / match report ?

2015 Gp Wild Cards
New Science replied to arnieg's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
With 2 GP'S in Sweden there will be 2 Swedes GP line up.If Lindgren doesn't qualify top 8 and or Jonasson throu the challenge then BSI have a major headache.Worst case scenario 2 Swedes plus NKI and Darcy -

Good balanced post pretty much agree with all your theories -
Kasprzak has gone from relative obscurity to multi GP winner after his first year link up with Peter Johns, exactly the same path as Woffinden took in 2013. Batch will not get a wildcard unless he qualifies in the top 8.Won't be 2 Aussies given wildcards,if Darcy is eligible he will definitely get the nod.

In Copenhagen he was using an engine supplied by Chris Holder,on his own equipment he is nowhere near a top 8 rider, that GP was a one off,he has not been anywhere near that level since !

Gorzow Gp-30th August 2014
New Science replied to mickthemuppet's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Phil maybe you could inform your contacts at the FIM that the increase in riders being injured is related to the new silencers,as they seem oblivious and are reluctant to propose change. The new silencers have made the sport more dangerous and have sucked the atmosphere from our sport (GP in Poland when the Poles are successful excepted) lets go back to the old ones ! -

Agree ! The losers will be the youngsters with Darcy,NKI,1 random Swede (Unless 1 qualifies from GP challenge) and AN other, may be no room for MJJ,Bech,Zmarzlik,Dudek or Pawlicki's. Shame !

Unless they qualify by right there will not be 4 Danes in the series next with only 1 GP in Denmark.Jepsen Jenson should have had a pick this year but missed out do to 3 Danes being in the series already.Ward(if able)and Iversen are certs, followed by 1 Swede as Lingren will probably qualify due to injuries, plus AN other which will depend on how many Danes and Poles have qualified from the challenge or maybe Sayfudinov (if interested) or Smolinski if they plan to stage a German GP.The wildcards have always been dictated on a quota system not on ability so MJJ,Bech,Pawlicki's,Zmarzlik may have to wait. Just to add some balance, although Zmarzlik's performance was good,it was on his own track with a severely depleted field. It reminded me of Janus Kolodziej who was fantastic at Leszno, his home track but when he got into the series made little impression. -
Speedway Champions League ?
New Science replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
In the real world Shouldn't the Poole Team read Darcy Ward TBC Emil Sayfudinov Guest Maciej Janowski Piotr Pawlicki Guest Josh Grajczonek Just read through the F.I.M regulations about who can represent which teams and nowhere does it say you can throw in 2 guests of your choice just to beef up your team as you see fit. Farce ! -
Was going to take in this match as in the local paper it previewed it as quote "a blockbuster night of action" "a mouthwatering double header" and "a breathtaking night of action" Unfortunately when the club chairman or his apprentice in spin Rich jones are allowed to write in the press the hype is nowhere near the reality.
