  1. Yes indeed had Michael won heat 18 in the 1977 World Final at the very least he would he been in a run off for the title!
  2. I remember that evening at Ullevi very well and Michael was a deserving champion. I was also present at Ullevi for his first World Final in 1977 and he came quite close that night when just 18! Certainly had the ability to win more than one title but that’s another story!
  3. Scunthorpe twice and King’s Lynn so far. Plymouth on Tuesday is the next one for me! All Speedway of course as not really interested in any other sport.
  4. I agree Tony it doesn’t really make a great deal of sense as to why it is not safe for a few hundred fans to be socially distanced on the terraces but it is for 30 odd riders, plus mechanics and officials to be crammed into the pits! Maybe it is just too much aggravation to cater for fans at the moment in which case I can understand the decision. The important thing though is the youngsters are getting some more competitive action.
  5. Well done all involved - a very well run event. Great to attend a Speedway meeting once again! Hopefully there will be a few more rounds of the Championship at other tracks.
  6. I was fortunate enough to see Speedway racing in both Canada and South Africa in 2017 just before the demise in both. I also saw meetings in New Zealand at Rosebank and Oreti Park in March (just before the travel restrictions) and although solo Speedway there bears little resemblance to what it once was there is hopefully enough interest and younger riders coming through to sustain some form of solo activity for a few more years at least.
  7. I did a 14 hour direct flight to Buenos Aires then hired a car and drove about 200 miles to Carlos Casares. A bit tiring but I thoroughly enjoyed it!
  8. I would certainly be interested. I visited last November to watch Speedway at Carlos Casares (just under 200 miles from Buenos Aires) and really enjoyed my time there.
  9. Interesting announcement in Speedway Total today! 10. They were trying to get some Speedway races at Randfontein this year. When I went to Walkerville in 2017 and spoke to one of the SA riders, Neil Petitt, who informed me that from time to time he put in demonstration laps at a few other circuits. I’m not sure but Randfontein might have been one of them though.
  11. Hi Tim In Norway I have done Mjosa, Oslo, Skien and Kristiansand so I just need Elgane for the full set. In Finland I'm sorry to say I have only done a GP at Tampere so I need to work on that a bit!
  12. I did fly to Bucharest but then hired a car. The journey was about 145 miles each way about half of which was motorway. Overall it took just over 3 hours going mainly due to Friday ‘rush hour’ traffic. Coming back on a Sunday was a bit quicker!
  13. Hi Tim I went to Braila in July for rounds one and two of the Romanian Championships. Seven riders riding each other twice with 3 riders per race. Adrian Gheorge won on both days but the second day was curtailed from 14 heats to 7. I was made very welcome in Braila and thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
  14. I have been to Zarnovica Tim but not Nagyhalasz as yet. You probably watch more Speedway than any of us!
  15. Hi Tim I feel sure Tai will come back stronger next year. Eight more tracks this year including Rivne in The Ukraine and Braila in Romania! Hope all is good with you.
  16. Unfortunately I can think of at least five riders who will not be able to make Friday.
