Jeez, I wonder if they’ll wish Jimmy Savile all the best ... one of our greatest DJ’s .... You do sometimes wonder who’s in charge of their social media account and thought this was a good idea ?- 60 replies

In the last decade we’ve lost a few tracks here (St Colomb de Lauzan, Artigues de lussac, St Denis de pile) the grasstrack scene is still big here but clubs are moving more towards speedway. there’s also a speedway track / club at Macon near Lyon -

All fans attend every meetings. The crowds aren’t massive but hopefully being starved of racing will encourage them to venture out. -
It is. Believe it or not , not everything is about the money.

It’s gonna be a loooong trip for me to watch a meeting or two ( travel restrictions permitting)

So no Asians go to football matches then ?

If that’s the case you have to ask what British speedway has done in the last 40+ years to target them as a potential audience ?

I give it till tomorrow before the “ the bikes are too fast nowadays/ there’s no skill involved in riding them (even though most of the critics wouldn’t even know how to start a bike), let’s go back to uprights/ black leathers and bibs/ proper cinders on the tracks/ eeeeeee I saw Tommy ( the mad wellie) Wilkinshaw in 1952 and he used to ride with a rusty Brillo pad on his helmet” brigade come and tell you that’s what’s needed.

Bearing in mind that laydowns have been used for about 30 years then they should sort the damned tracks out then. -
Even if the carnet does last a year it’s still a ball ache, I know riders have ridden abroad before... I was one of them. Every bike frame / engine number had to be on the corner with long waits at the border etc.... I’ve also been the organizer when you get a call on Friday morning saying ‘can you race on Sunday in Germany’ , just organizing ferry’s/ tunnels, time off work, bike prep etc is hard enough with having to add the “fun” of customs to it all. still... blue passports eh?

Popped on this thread to have a look just off to get myself a new tin foil hat ... jeez there’s some loony’s about.

With checks now having to be made as the UK has third country status in terms of the EU. Will that mean that riders will have to go back to the old days of getting a carnet stamped before crossing into Europe ? I can remember long waits at the customs having every frame / engine number checked etc. will this need to be tested / looked into before the start of an already delayed season to make sure that no riders are stuck at ports ?

Last seasons end of year test against Denmark was the kind of thing team GB needs. Proper international tests both home and away where all 7 riders get rides -

That’s about right, a mixture of youth and experience. Good call. -
No one in speedway is really surprised that “pikey Jase” is in jail. The biggest surprise is that it took so long one less druggy to have to lookout for
