  1. Mike. Again you have not read my post properly. My first sentence says, “I can understand people not being able to get time off work.....” Most people can afford £75 for a playoff final trip. And it would be much less if the fuel was shared. Whether people would want a 11 hour round trip to Kings Lynn is a different argument when it’s on TV.
  2. That I am most certainly not. But as you are desperate for some end of season “Do” perhaps you will put you hand in your pocket to pay all the airfares?
  3. Give Matt a ring and tell him you will organise it.
  4. Its a fact that every generation is better off than the previous generation. Who doesn’t own a smart phone? 20 years ago many didn’t even own a mobile.
  5. Never said that at all. I said that some couldn’t have made it due to work commitments. And others might be on benefits.
  6. Most families have 2 cars. A big flat screen tv. Sky and BT. 2 holidays abroad every year. Weekly visits to Wagamamas or Nandos. People have never had it so good.
  7. Good news that the club are finally getting the new track marked out and work started. The current track has produced diabolical racing in recent seasons. A new 300 metre track is needed with the right shape. Hope they don’t do a Leicester and put in something just as bad. Finger crossed.
  8. Doing things right in life? What is £75? Dinner for 2 at an average restaurant? Just over half a tank of fuel? A pair of cheapish jeans? A new shirt? A months subscription to Sky?
  9. I don’t believe that. I can understand people not being able to get time off work but not being able to afford it? Wouldn’t cost more than £75 with fuel and entry. If someone can’t afford that they should look seriously at where they have gone wrong in life and make changes. People today are better off than they have ever been. Not aimed at people on sickness benefit.
  10. What to go to Kings Lynn? Anyone could afford to go, surely?
  11. Rider of the year - Robert Lambert Most impressive team - Poole, from bottom 2/3rds through the season to Champions! One to watch - Dan Bewley Bulldog award (Best British rider) - Chris Harris Meeting of the season - Poole v Somerset playoff semi. Surprise of the season - Nicolai Klindt Underperformers (Team) - Swindon Unluckiest rider - Any rider who suffered an injury Newcomer of the season - Freddie Jakobsen
  12. Us of us who made the trip to Kings Lynn all congratulated the team at the time. That’s enough for me. All this rider of the season, team rider of the season, young rider of the year is just clutter. The whole team won collectively imo.
  13. Gavan has just posted his reaction to Poole winning yet another championship.
  14. So are you going to congratulate Poole Pirates, Matt and Middlo, riders and the fans of the club on a fabulous backs to the wall against all the odds victory?
  15. BT have just released a photo of the ref speaking to Dale Allitt at the time. ”No, no, I saw it clearly Allitt, Jakobsen never touched him”.
  16. So Gavan, now you are back from another deserved ban, are you going to congratulate Poole for another backs to the wall remarkable championship? 8 in 16 years. How good is that? Await you sending your congratulations.
  17. He probably filled that area with abuse then thought better of it and deleted it.
  18. Not sure how you can compare Collins to Woffinden. As a neutral who has seen both ride, there is no comparison. Woffinden is head and shoulders above Collins. Back in the 70’s the standard was lower in the World Final compared to the GP series. Polish and eastern block riders were making up the numbers.
  19. My previous posts shows why Harris did well. At Rye he wasn’t paid by the point. He was paid to turn up and ride in 4 or 5 heats. It didn’t matter if he scored 2 or 15. He still got the same wage until the money ran out. At Poole he was paid by the point. No points no money. Focuses the brain. He also picked up some decent sponsorship in the short time he rode for the club. Re-vitalised him no end.
  20. Perverse way? That’s unfair. Poole had no say in Iversen crashing in Poland the day before. MPT/Jakobsen was just a typical racing incident and which normally results in both riders walking away. There was no malice in Jakobsens move. Rye closing down had nothing to do with Poole. All to do with Rye paying riders a wage rather than points money causing them to go bust. Harris to Poole absolutely made us the best team in the league.
