What was mentioned at the press conference last night is yet again the riders arrived and were caught out by track prep in the first half of the meeting. It took them several heats to get their setups correct. We can’t afford to give Kings Lynn 5-6 heats at the start of the meeting where we have no track advantage.

Sorry I totally disagree. Not trying to be controversial and I understand you defending your track but it’s bloody awful. Last night it was quite rough, with riders bouncing about and struggling to turn their bikes for the first few heats. Races were generally well spaced out often with 20 metres between bikes. There is little in the way of racing lines meaning passing is rare unless you are an exceptional talent. Most races seem to be decided down the back straight of lap one. It never used to be like this. I don’t think it has anything to do with bikes, more to do with the track prep. Far too grippy? Grippy tracks produce crap racing. Fast times but well spaced out. Make the track slick and watch the racing improve.

Totally disagree. Showed a strong ref, not accepting the professional dive from Doyle. It was clear to everyone in the stadium he laid it down to get a refund. He could have stayed on the bike no issue, so the ref chucked him out. It could have been so easy to say all 4 back but why give Doyle another go when he was clearly outgated the first time around and took it upon himself to do a dying swan act. Absolutely he didn’t need to go down. Would have at least got second if he had stayed up so cost his club dearly in the final summary.

Special mention to Nicolai Klindt. Ridiculed by Gavan on here who came on to gloat just a couple of days ago, the guy was superb last night. Since coming into the team he has been rock solid and last night was the unsung hero. He was robbed by the ref in heat 15 but in all his rides he battled hard and never gave up. Well done that man.

End of the day Poole fully deserved to go through, after the brilliant performance two weeks ago where we held Somerset on their own patch. A fabulous effort from the boys to shut up all the people on here with their jibes and riducules. Sure, we go into the final as the underdogs and rightly so. But never underestimate a Pirate!

All if, buts and maybe’s. End of the day both teams affected by losing a rider. Both teams picked up 7 points from irr. So no advantage gained by either side in the meeting. The winner was Kings Lynn because whichever team progressed last night they will be weaker in the final because of it. But what a night. Just great speedway in front of a very big crowd. Will be packed next week to the rafters.

I was wrong. Simple as that. Bomber brought with him too many negative memories for me to contemplate, but truth is he has said he ows Poole and is certainly paying it back. Well onto tonight and what a brilliant, brilliant meeting. It had the lot. Drama, crashes (of which I don’t like) drama, edge of your seat nerve jangling races and the ultimate of heat 15’s. The grandstand went absolutely ballistic. One forum member invaded the dog track and nearly got evicted. The loss of Brady in his first ride and I thought it was curtains. I didn’t know at the time as it wasn’t announced for at least 30 minutes that Holder was also out, which evened it up. If Holder had been OK Somerset would have romped it. Heard just before leaving that Holder may not have broken anything, just a big bump on the head. Brady has a broken collar bone and his season is run. Couple of thoughts. When Doyle fell he looked for it. It was clear he did a Nicki and dumped the bike in the hope of a rerun. The crowd were baying, shouting, out, out out. Huge roar when the white light came on. Poor call from Doyle who could probably have got second if he had stayed up, which at the end could have put Somerset through. Heat 15 and Klindt to me made the perfect start. Gutted the ref called it back. Spoke to Nicolai afterwards and he was frustrated about it. As for Bomber, never thought he would close on Doyle and get through. In fact on the third lap thought he was almost going to fall. To win by half a bike was just phenomenal. Never seen the grandstand erupt like that. Commiserations to Somerset who battled all the way. Wasn’t many Somerset fans present which was a suprise considering how many Poole fans headed to the Oak Tree. But a meeting like that shuts up all the people who moan about the Poole track. Just shows it produces excellent racing and is one of the best race tracks in the UK.

Delay at Poole as Brady taken to hospital. Seems Somerset got the rocket up the backside after the first leg and look better in all departments. Can’t deny it’s not deserved in all honesty. Poole blow hit and cold without a top rider and tonight looks like the turn of cold. At least it means no long trip to Kings Lynn in two weeks to get beaten. Horrible trip.
