  1. Sorry Grachan you can try and deflect but Swindon are clear favourites. And many of the Swindon fans want Rosco to pick Poole, so they can 'smash them' in both legs. Well I say, bring it on. Pirates have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
  2. There was confusion about the coin toss. The announcer said Poole had won the toss and would consider the gates before making the choice. A few minutes later it was announced Somerset had won the toss and chosen 2-4. Clearly the home side knew 2-4 were better from previous meetings and so it proved. Gate 4 won 6 of the heats.
  3. Lawson had been superb for Somerset and was unbeaten. Brought down and wrongly excluded in heat 13.
  4. I had a chat with your promoter last night at Lynn and he comes across as a very go ahead chap. Doubt you could wish for a better promoter. Rye seem to be in very safe hands and for a first season have done very well. Well well well what a night of speedway which had everything! A huge crowd, Somersets biggest of the season, hundreds of travelling Poole fans making a ton of noise (at the end) and some great racing played out in a very tense atmosphere. Somerset raced into a big lead and it looked all over, but suddenly Poole got their hands on the far superior gates 2 and 4 and two 5-1s on the bounce brought us back into it. With drawn heats and the meeting running out it came down to the wire. Pirates would simply not be denied. With ruthless utter determination Kurtz led down the back straight and a great cutback from Hans brought him into second entering the third bend. Lawson battled for 4 laps but Brady was not going to be caught. With Josh G tailed off the hundreds of Poole fans erupted as we took the win. A magnificient performance of true grit and determination not to be beaten and the Poole Pirates which we all know and love showed themselves for the first time this season. For Poole. Brady started poorly but improved as the meeting went on. Starke battled for his points. Could have scored more but pulled up when third as he thought he heard something wrong with his engine. There was nithing wrong! Kennett was excellent and did a blinding third to first ride in heat 14 to draw the heat and save the meeting. Hans played a true captains role and stood up to the pressure of heat 15. Lahti was excellent. Really showing his class. Georgie Wood was out of his depth. For Somerset. Josh G was very good most of the night. Wright was unlucky not to have been in heat 15. Excellent around this track. Hougaard battled but two poor rides. Greebo was very good. Unfairly excluded in heat 13 when Josh G brought him off. Doolan ran out of steam. Kerr was consistent all night. That's what speedway is all about. Would have made a brilliant tv meeting. Speedway the winner tonight. Time for Swindon to pick us now. And more than happy if they do. We have nothing to fear from Swindon. No pressure on us at all. All the pressure is now on Swindon. They are expect to brush us aside and make the final. Let them try. Poole are not the same team that was falling apart in mid season. Our confidence has grown. The team has now gelled and is battling for everything. Swindons bubble is bursting. Rye ripped them apart tonight and although they had a couple of riders missing they are not the force many of their fans think they are. We can go into the semis knowing we have every chance of reaching the final, against all the odds. Lets do this!
  5. So you are just unpleasant then. Hmm I can think of better words to describe you.
  6. Be suprised if we can do this josh and greebo virtually ubeatable.
  7. Big crowd here at Somerset. Still queues outside. Delayed start.
  8. You believe what you want. The rest of us can just see through your anti Poole claptrap.
  9. And Klindt absolutely should not have been riding. It was clear to see on teack walks. Have you read what is wrong with him? As for Hougaardjust seen him on the track walk laughing and joking. Looked fine.
  10. Forum troll who posts continuously on every Poole thread with his inane anti poole vitriol badly disguised as debate. We all laugh at him. To be honest everyone sees straight through the spew.
  11. Lol! Ruffled a few feathers and some budgies don't like to hear a few truths about the way some of them have been carrying on In your world if Poole lose tonight we would have choked. If Rye win tonight they are riding above themselves. Gavan. The gift that keeps on giving.
  12. Holder was untouchable in his last two rides last night. Shanes has come on leaps and bounds since the A fixture. If Hougaard was unfit he wouldn't be riding. Gavan. The gift that keeps on giving. Lol!
  13. One meeting a fortnight isn't enough for most clubs. They need regular home meetings every week. 12 team league. Home and away twice. 22 meetings plus cup and playoffs. Can't be difficult surely? Mondays and Thursdays.
  14. I had achat last night with the Rye House promoter. He said he wanted Mondays and Thursdays. But home one week, away the next. Not sure many fans would want a home meeting every two weeks. I hear Matt Ford wants the same (set race nights). Looks like this is going to happen. Has to be the way forward.
  15. The rain shower was very unlucky. It was the only shower in the whole of the east of the country and just clipped Kings Lynn. With little to no wind it hung around long enough to do the damage. It had stopped when leaving the arena and the moon was out. 3 miles down the a10 it was bone dry.
  16. You obviously! But you are of course completely wrong. Swindon haven't won anything. Yet. With the Robins being clear favourites (no one can dispute this) for the title, other teams can go into the playoffs with little to no pressure on the riders. Can the Robins handle the pressure? Or will another club come sailing through to blow the Robins out of the water? Poole V Coventry? Swindon v Wolves? It ain't over yet. All those wins in a row will be nothing more than a tearful memory of Swindon choke in the playoffs. Nothing is certain.
  17. Gavan shows how much of an idiot he is by slating my post and praising yours, when we both made almost identical posts! Lol! Think to get the win tonight all 5 riders need on it from heat 1 and riders like Josh, Greebo, Charles and Lewis are very fast around here. Throw in a returning Hougaard and us missing two key riders and we could easily miss out. Need Swindon to help us tonight but if Rye are fired up like they were on Monday I don't expect the Robins to get the win. Hope I am wrong though.
  18. I did watch speedway in Swindon for 3 seasons as a youngster in the early 1970's. I was taken to Swindon as a child from Peterborough by my parents, and at the first opportunity at the age of 18, escaped and moved to beautiful Dorset. I am a spokeman for nobody other than myself, though thank you for holding me in such high regard.
  19. Exactly as I said, though I think we will miss Jack. We are asking a lot of Lahti and as we have both said Somerset are a good team on their own patch. Starke is clr\early struggly and his pairing with Eddie is a big worry. Agree the meeting will possibly be beyond us. We need the win as I expect Rye House to win their remaining meetings.
  20. Going to be a very big ask for us to get anything out of tonight. No Shanes and with respect Woods isn't goong to get near a point. No Holder which is the reason we could come up short. The Somerset team are very good around the oak tree and we could easily come away with nothing tonight. If that is the case Rye will take 4th imo. Still, I will be there cheering on the Pirates. We have certainly improved quite dramatically since our mid season slump and if we get 4th will not be a walk over whoever we meet. Somerset Rebels: Josh Grajczonek [c] (7.63), Richard Lawson (6.96), Patrick Hougaard (6.63), Charles Wright (6.53), Rider replacement for Cameron Heeps (5.49), Kevin Doolan, Lewis Kerr (5.17); Team Manager: Garry May Poole Pirates: Brady Kurtz (8.41), Hans Andersen [c] (7.74), Edward Kennett (6.39), Rider replacement for Jack Holder (5.69), Paul Starke (5.29), Timo Lahti (4.44); Georgie Wood [g] (2.65) Team Manager: Neil Middleditch
  21. Nightmare journey back last night. M11 closed southbound had to go through Baldock center as bypass closed. M3 entry closed on M25 so had to detour through Sunningdale. Detour signs wrong took us in loop! M27 closed, A31 closed. Had to go through Southampton and New Forest to Christchurch. Got in at 2.30am. Still, we won so worth it. Wont be back for the Lynn v Rye meeting so would like to know where to send ticket for refund.
