Woffinden was always going to get the biggest cheer, never a doubt about that. However it was quiet compared to the reception Mark Loram received. Back then I used to be deaf for days after with ringing ears. Although Tai had the majority of support, it was the British GP, the talk in the pubs was of general discontent about his disrespect to British Speedway. I have critisized him about his failure to support British racing but of course cheered him last night.

Twas a Welsh rugby player who plays for an Aussie club. I asked him. Also next to me was Scott Mitchell the darts player who wad enjoying the meeting even though his mate Noddy had a bad meeting on slow bikes. He hasn't been charged with anything. About 5 minutes before tapes up I thought it looked a smaller crowd than recent years, but we moved to the starting gate after 4 heats and the back straight and bends looked much busier than I have seen before. Migh have been the biggest crowd ever for the event. A great nights racing. Some very tough battles and riders knocking into each other. Really enjoyed the whole day. Chatted to Monster Joe who confirmed Dary ended up with a pathetic £4000 from his Polish meeting. The fan zone had more room, but was desperately lacking anything worth while. Some trich skateboarders was fun for five minutes. The vintage bikes for about two mins. Some bloke of Radio One grave yard shift three nights a week spun some old record, The Jam etc. How we thrilled to it as he raised his arms in the air, to three old ladies noshing on an ice cream. That bloke from Sheffield spouted his usual stuff, but the Magoos were not there...thank god. Nowhere near enough going on. Very very poor. Nice to chat to the usual motley crew around the streets and pubs of Cardiff. Saw some tart who looked like Lilly Savage, peroxide blonde with roots showing through, smudged makeup, fart stains showing through on back of short white skirt. Shouted out "Gavan" but she didn't look around. Racing was excellent, presentation top notch, meeting ran at a great pace. Worthy winner in Antonio. Woffinden stated poorly but improved. Happy with result. But for Woffinden to shout out, 'Make some effing noise" was both crass and unprofessional. He could just as easily have said, "Come on Cardiff, make some noise". Let himself down. Then he jumped in a car and tried to broadside it around the track which was amusing but put the fear of god into the organisers. It seemed he was trying to grab the limelight away from the winner. The post meeting interviews were shown on the big screens. The rides need to be more professional. Fireworks to end and easy to get out of Cardiff. Listened to bbc Five Live coming back but the sports bullitins never gave it a mention. The sports were Serena Williams, wheelchair tennis, Lewis Hamilton getting pole tomorrow, Andy Murray playing tomorrow, womens super league football, the Scottish Open golf leaders, Frome in the Tour De France, and two women doing ok in an athletics meeting. Not a mention which is pretty poor, both of the bbc and bsi for not pushing it out there. It really is a big enough event to be worthy of mention and was probably the biggest sporting event attended in the UK today.

Belle Vue V Wolverhampton 06-07-2016
Steve Shovlar replied to GregoryM's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes quite agree. Belle Vue have a wonderful new track and stadium but the crowd looks like it has turned up to watch crown green bowls such is their age. The promotion now have the facilities, get out there and attract a crowd. All those empty seats looked terrible. Kids free, kids speedway fan club, hit the Trafford Centre, how many live in Manchester? Discount vouchers, bring a friend, a free pint, face painting, free air horns, etc etc If you build it they will come has not happened here so far. As for last night, better than the last three but not a brilliant meeting as some are saying by any stretch of the imagination. 6/10 -
Hoping for a Holder win as he gives more to British speedway. But if Woffinden wins it fair play. With all due respect not Hancock please. Have to say thats a boring attitude to have. Fans surely want to read about him saying he will do all he can to win the British GP for British fans, not just score 10 points.

Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
Steve Shovlar replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Nothing to gloat over. The guy is a jerk who thinks he is above the forum rules. Judging by the sound of it I was far from the only one to report him. The only person to blame for his time out is Gavan. He has been building up for this for weeks, gradually becoming more aggressive and dismissing a different opinion as trolling. He was too blind to see his posts on the Poole thread, were so anti anything Poole, from the team, the promotion, the track, the fans, anything in fact, was bound to attract a reaction. He had lost it so badly he tried to say everyone loved him by the amount of likes he received. And then he completely lost it on here. More fool him. As the saying goes. Oh dear. What a shame. Never mind. -

Belle Vue making hard work of Wolves. Bloody hell can't wait for a full strength Poole side to go up there. Holder, Buck, Hans, Bjarne will love it. Kurtz, Newman and Ellis should enjoy as well. Bring it on for gods sake! -

Will be a very small crowd no doubt about it. Perhaps the BV promotion should have just opened the gates and packed the place out. Might have picked up a lot of new fans in doing so. Speculate to accumulate. -

Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

Nothing to do with me? So its a free for all being abusive as you like without moderation? It certainly does have something to do with me when I read posts like that. What happened to attack the post and not the poster? The forum is meant to be moderated therefore posts like that absolutely need to be reported. Gavan has done this before and had time out. This time its even worse. He hasn't learnt from the first time he was banned. Whilst it may be ok for some on here to bully and verbally attack other members whose opinion differs from their own, in my opinion posts like that are completely unacceptable and clearly against the rules of the forum. People who think it acceptable are no better than the person who made the abusive post in the first place. I am not defending anything Robert72 has or has not said, yet this post from Gavan is a disgrace. -
Yes very nasty. He did the usual back straight wheelie come around to tapes, but when his front wheel came down it caught him out and he wobbled then went over the handlebars. He was caught up on the bike and ended up with it crashing down on him. Not sure if the front wheel suspension gave away which caused the crash or the front wheel gave way. He got up but was clearly hurt and went down again. Finished off his teams chnces of a result.

Move Over The Elite League.

Again you show your complete lack of knowledgement or you are trolling. Poole fans know our track produces excellent racing more often than not. Unlike you I actually go to speedway every week it is run and go to every EL track in the country at least once and maybe twice a season depending on when Poole ride there. I also watch every Sky meeting. Taking off any blue blinkers I would say Poole produces some of the best racing I have seen anywhere in the league. We are lucky the Wimborne Road track shape allows full throttle action with passing inside and out on every bend. Rarely if ever do we get meetings where heats are strung out. Perhaps its because Poole have a team of racers who can pass but so far this year we have been treated to some wonderful action. True the track had issues, which have now been resolved, but even the Poole V Belle Vue meeting on Sky, derided by many on here, was far superior than the majority of meetings on Sky this year. The Result was crap and we lost, but there was a ton of passing in most of the heats. Would I swap Pooles track for another in the EL? The jury is still out on Belle Vues track. Hopefully it will settle to be spectacular. Looking forward to Pooles visits. Other than that I would keep Wimborne Road hands down. Just my opinion of course. -
Do you purposely leave out Holder because he rides for Poole? Holder has a record around Cardiff better than anyone including your beloved Tai. Noddy to win would bring the house down. Hugely popular amongst all speedway fans as his reception at Cardiff every year shows. If Woffinden wins then fine, but every interview he is piping on at just how better than everyone else he is and just waiting to pull away. Then after saying that he ran two lasts and crashed out. Tai winning the championship is fine by me, but he is far from popular. Loram had the support of nearly all British fans. Woffinden disrespects us and because of this has lost a chunk of support. Having said that if Holder fails to make the final and Woffinden does, I am happy for him to win it. Surely you cant expect to have a different opinion to Gavan and not be a troll. Thats his favourite word for me as I am completely at odds with his way of thinking. His way or you are a troll. Lol! As for tickets, we buy the cheapest ones on the day from the ticket office by the stadium up those stairs. £25 wont get cheaper, then after heat 4 move to better seats. This is fine until the event becomes a sell out, which will probably never happen unless the nationals or mainstream tv pick up on the event. Hope bsi get some riders together for Thursday night. Everyone should be in town so no problem giving a few demo rides. Get thenriders pass each other on every bend to make it look like all racing is like this. But of course this is all pie in thensky. Bsi probably havent even thought about it.
