Polish League Sunday 26th July
Steve Shovlar replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Cracking meeting. Glad to see Lindback getting back to where he was a couple of years ago. -
Perhaps its finally sinking in with some peple that Bjarne hasn't been manipulating his average at all this season and has dropped by a two point standard. He has never got close to the form of recent seasons this year and being dumped out of the semi final was totally predictable. A shame that Lindback and Zagar went the same way though. Write off Adrian Meidzinski at your peril. The lad has come on leaps and bounds and could easily qualify over soeone like Holder who has never really mastered the Brandon track. Harris ( extremely unfortunately, doesn't deserve a berth) and Lindgren are nailed on. If walasek has his gating boots on he could easily make it, as could Bjerre.

Gb World Cup Team

Found out last night the reason why Richardson isn't in the lineup. It's because the other riders don't like him. he doesn't get on with his fellow riders and Rob Lyon wants harmony in the pits and for them all to get on. So bye bye Lee. Ability hasn't come into it. Unbeleivable but true. -

Well whatever we say isn't going to change anything so will have to put up with this for at least this season before the powers that be can step in. We should always put out our best team. Orion is spot on. There won't be union jacks at Peterborrough flying from the stands. It will be white flags of surrender. And why have this at a track where GB struggle? Take it to Wolves and gve us a chance of qualifying. It's not as if the place is going to be packed out, is it? I would also like to add that I normally go to these meetings to cher on TeamGB, and would have been there for this but for going away for a couple of weeks this weekend. I DO want Team GB to qualify. I don't want to come on here and write "told you so". But the only way to avoid abject failure from failure that is to put out a stronger team. -

Sounds like another mistake of Jim Lynch proportions then. -

True, and Nicholls doesn't deserve a berth. But Ricko is having a blinding season. Far better than King. -

Rubbish,(to Gemmilou) riders need to earn their places in the team and just because they are young doesn't mean they should be given a chance. I am all for bringing in the youngsters, but surely you put your best team out for the WTC. If Lyon wants to blood youngsters, get some internationals organised. -

King a kid? We are waiving the white flag already with this choice. I said when Lyon was appointed it was madness and so it is proving. He has no experience outside the PL and it's showing through like a beacon.. -

But Lyon obviously dosn't realise that. Perhaps someone should tell him. He is inept as that Charlie last season. -

Richardson has been Team GB's best rider over the last few seasons. You are not Rob Lyon is disguise are you? -

Richardson is currently our best rider. The guy doesn't have a clue. -

Well the team has been announced and the new Team GB manager has made the first howler, including Danny King over Lee Richardson. Nicolls I agree should not be in, but come on, King over Richardson, who is showing good form? Rubbish choice IMO. -
Hans Anderson
Steve Shovlar replied to chapel_end_bees's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You are so wrong. Bomber had to go. No ifs, buts or maybes. He took Andersens wheel away and that was that. A shame but for some of th crowd to boo Andersen was farcical. Harris made the error not Hans. And personally I wanted the ref to call it wrong and put Bomber through but it was never going to happen. -

Tom Jones was close by at Glastonbury. Surely it wouldn't have cost "over the top" to have helicoptered him in as guest of honor, got him to sing the National anthems and Delilah before flying him back? -

Have to agree. Entered the stadium with a couple of girls hanging under some balloons. Thought, "hmm that looks interesting, especially if they opened the roof and thw two guys unterthered themselves. Next stop 35,000 feet? Already said 90% of the music was childish rubbish. They need some professional guys in there to get the crowd going. Some of the stuff was OK but playing Kosac music when Emil cae out was embarressing in the extreme. As for Killer Queen, someone whould have killed them, and this bloke Childs must be the resident Stadium solo singer when the organisers haven't booked a star for the anthems. -
That's how I saw it as well. Last year the crowd was bigger. The bottom and middle tier were full and the back straight pretty full. This year there were quite a few empty seats in all tiers. Couple of reasons IMO. One, the recession is keeping people at home, and secondly, fans don't have "their" club man to cheer on. Only a few of the riders are in the EL so fans don't have a connection with a certain rider.
-
And both decisions were completely correct. I couldn't give two hoots if Andersen had been excluded, but both times the ref got it right. The only time he got it wrong was when Jonsson was excluded when Crump overlocked.
-
But lets be honest he is hardly in the same class. Who many extra GPs did it take him? TRick was head and shoulders the better rider.
-
Eh? You obviously didn't read my post. I said I wanted Harris to go through to the final but it was a simple call. Harris knocked off Andersen. Just because Andersen rides for Poole at the moment doesn't mean I automatically support him in the GP series. I never have done before and just because he rides for my club for part of a season doesn't change anything. I was not biased at all, or if anything Pro Harris, but the ref got it absolutely spot on and excluded the correct rider.
-
Just got back. A mediocre British GP IMO with Crump dominant. Made it all a bit lacklustre. He should have been excluded when he slightly looked up and Jonsson had nowhere to go and went into him. Ref got that one wrong but the only difference it would have made was that Crump would have been three points less than he is at this moment. Both Pedersen and Harris were rightly excluded. Had to laugh when all around me were booing Andersen. I wanted Harris to stay in but it was obvious he was at fault. Same with Pedersen he didn't have a leg to stand on. Funny watching the ruckus between Nicholls and Saifudinov. Scott did nothing wrong and Emil picked on the wrong guy to have a go at. This is GP and hard riding is the order of the day. Crowd a fair bit down on last year, possibly 5000 less. Still an entertaining day and again I won't spend a penny over £30 for a ticket. Purchased £60 face value tickets for £30 outside and found ourselves on the middle teir at the apex to the 3rd/4th bend. We eye baled some great seats middle tier opposiite the starting gate and after heat 4 moved to them. No problems, free flag and superb seats. Until it's sold out I see no reason not to do the same every year. So Crump has it in the bag. Shame but Nicki is not in the form of last year and until Holder and Lindback come into the series, along with Kennett, Zagar and a few more youngsters to threaten the boring old farts, we will might have to suffer a couple more seasons of this. Adams looks like he is ready to fall on his sword which has to be good news, and Hancock can't be far behind. And one more thing. For gods sake the music is 90% hogwash. A few decent numbers to get the crowd going but it was child like at times. The Hokey Cokey for Christs sake!! There's plenty of tracks to get the crowd going, not rubbish like that.
-
Bloody hell it was bad enough watching it live, why suffer it again?
