  1. One would hope they have, and to be honest it would be great if the speedway switched to BT Sport as it's a free channel in my household.
  2. Time for action by the BSPA. No point waiting any longer for Sky to answer the phone. If they are refusing to talk, then time for the BSPA to pick up the phone and call BT Sport. What's the worst that could happen? Sky get the hump and refuse to give a new deal? it sounds like that is going to happen anyway. Get on the phone to BT Sport, try and arrange a meeting and see where it takes us. If they are not interested then nothing is lost. If neither Sky or BT want to show UK Speedway in 2014 then TV coverage is gone for the time being and clubs can build their sides within the new budget levels. Clearly the product would be much weaker and we would lose all the top riders but the sport will survive. We should not be beck and call to Sky's current refusal to speak.
  3. Well done to Tai Woffinden. Great effort and deserved. Next year it is going to be extremely hard to defend so I am very pleased he did it quickly tonight. The 2014 GP Series is going to be the best ever with Tai, Emil, Darcy and Noddy (if fit) all battling for top spot. Throw in Iversen as a spoiler and it has the makings of a stunning series. Sky threw it in the bin at exactly the wrong time. Well done to Eurosport for picking it up and reaping the rewards. And well done again Tai.
  4. Think you mean Eurosport. Good luck to Woffinden tonight.
  5. Nearly choked on my Dorset Cereals this morning when the BBC mentioned the speedway. The presenter didn't have a clue and kept glancing down to his notes, but said Tai had to score 6 points to wi the first title in 13 years and that he could do it tomorrow in Poland, and his nearest rival was a Pole. And if he wins it he will hopefully be in the studio next week.
  6. Poole have battled to the playoffs and are there with a team built within the budget of the club. The riders are paid, there are no debts. Both Swindon and Brum are there under almost false pretences, as neither promotions can afford the teams they are running this season.
  7. Good meeting and some nail biting racing. Well done to the track staff. Tai doesn't really need 6 points as Hampel is not going to go through the card in 2 weeks time. Even if he didn't ride it would be a hard task for Hampel to over haul Tai. Brave riding by the Brit and the points he picked up tonight were crucial.
  8. When Chris Holder won the title last year Matt Ford milked it for all it was worth, and that was with an Aussie WC. Surely having a British WC has got to make the media take note. And if he does win it and stays in contention next year, it will be the biggest Cardiff attendence ever.
  9. I listen to 5live every day and speedway never gets a mention. Ladies Golf, some obscure snooker match in the far east al get on but here we are, 24 hours away from having a British WC and not a peep from the Beeb. The problem is the sport has no voice, or commentator in the BBC. They just don't know about it. Really, Woffy should have been interviewed live on air, and it should be in regular sports news tomorrow. But it won't be mentioned even if at 9 pm tomorrow night he wins it. Very unfair and in such circumstances it should make the sports news. But it won't. Best bet is all of us to email 5 live from now and tell them the situation. They can't ignore hundreds of emails telling them of a potential British WC, can they? Probably but worth a try. 5livesport@bbc.co.uk I have thrown them a quick email.
  10. You can watch the whole meeting in HD here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z11eACyrGjA The 7th heat starts at 43 minutes. Nasty nasty crash and get well soon Emil.
  11. A decent idea but I subscribe to the guy on Ebay who puts up 1080P streams of all the meetings 24 hours after the event. Not live though and the current live streams online are dreadful to watch.
  12. Funny old meetinhg to be honest. Got there early expecting a huge crowd but in the end it was only slightly bigger than a usual Poole league meeting. Not that many travelling fans and some Poole fans are saving their money for the meeting tomorrow. Iversen a cut above and the other 2 qualifiers desperately dull. KK rode well, make no mistake and was the second best rider on display. Bjerre got very lucky to get the final place. Harris had done all the hard work in 2 heats only for it to be called back. In the rerun he missed out. the dropped points would have put him into a run off with Bjerre. The meeting ended in a complete damp squib. After 20 heats the tractor came out to prepare the track for a runoff and no one left, only for 5 minutes later the announcer to tell us the top three are sealed and there wouldn't be a runoff! Certainly Harris deserved a run off as the most entertaining rider at the meeting. Guess he will miss out to the German ( who like Bjerre will bring nothing at all to the GP series IMO) on countback. I am certabinly not a Harris fan both he and King got my full support last night and if either had qualified it would only be good for GB speedway. I don't give a hoot if he had qualified over Lars Edbergssonsenski or whoever. If he had finished top 3, good for him!
  13. There is no ticket to buy. You pay cash on entry and get a ticket for a rain off but that's it.
  14. They are now giving rain for Saturday although they are being far from precise at the timing. Fingers crossed. Don't want a very wet track.
  15. You pay on entry no advance ticket sales. A real pain for me as I don't shut shop until 5.30 ands am 25 mins away. Hope its not a massive crowd as I could be locked out.
  16. Lots to do in Poole and surrounding area, but you are governed by the 4 pm opening of the gates and need to be at the stadium early to make sure you get in. At trip to Poole Quay is walking distance from the stadium with bars and shops. You could take a boat trip over to Brownsea Island from the quay. Cheers Steve
  17. I think you will discover Darcy is extremely consistent in the GP series. The most naturally gifted rider I have ever witnessed.
  18. Let's see what the average is come the last GP. However, I would rather Woffinden won it this year than Darcy if they had both stayed fit. Wish there was some way Radio 5 live or Talk Sport would actually acknowledge that a Brit is leading a GP Series. Instead they harp on about lady golfers!
  19. Good GP. Cracking races. Worthy winner, Darcy the most exciting and tai leading. Doesn't get much better. Tai better win it this year though as a fit Darcy would likely have won it this time around.
  20. Surprised it took until now for this thread to start. Middlo is in a no win situation and its a poisoned challis of a job because with the riders available to him he is never going to have success. You could put anyone in charge but the result would be the same. Team GB have no riders other than Woffinden. The rest are no where near good enough and even Latvia have 4 riders capable of scoring more. Not Middlos fault. Or Phil Morris. Just the fault of the fact that no riders are brought through the system. Make it compulsive that all EL teams must have 2 British reserves and we might see some talent in a few years.
  21. Nicholls refused to ride didn't he? Where's his pride in riding for his country?
  22. Well suprise suprise TeamGB don't win and the usual anti Poole/Middlo brigadse are out in force as usual. Did anyone actually think we could challenge Denmark last night? Add to that the most diabolically prepared track at Kings Lynn and it was game over. Terrible meeting for the crowd that bothered to turn up and no passion from the crowd once the Danes had silenced it. Nicholls didn't seem injured to me so what excuse has he got for not riding? Hang your head in shame when your country needs you! Cook and Kennett both tried but both are our of their depth at this level. Nicholls in place of Kennett still wouldn't have won us the meeting but we would have been a little closer. Rubbish meeting, terrible track prep and time to take it elsewhere next year. Take it to a track where Team GB excel and the opposition don't.
