  1. As someone said a bit ago..... Eurosport 411 Saturday morning at 8:45am and goes to 12 noon, preceeded at 8:15 by highlight of Torun. Highlights Saturday evening on 411 for one hour. My recording box is set as I am out most of Saturday till the evening.
  2. I wonder if the news that 800 jobs could be lost at the steel works may affect crowd attendance? Even loss of 10% of 800 is a lot when finances are tight.
  3. That beats it all..... someone moaning about those who are moaning about Wikipedia !!!!! perhaps those moaning about Wikipedia just didn't know they could edit wikipedia, ........and instead of someone moaning about those moaning about Wikipedia, they could have just educated them in a kind way simply by saying that anyone can edit Wikipedia. Now I am going to stop moaning too.
  4. Sounds like they having to go back to one week for preparation due to other commitments in the stadium. Will be interesting to see how the track goes. After the Warsaw fiasco, they seem to have put 2 weeks into preparation and it seems to have improved things, although the Warsaw track wasn't all that bad when they called the show off (it was th green light fiasco)
  5. That makes the situation worse..... the speedway management should have been stronger to confront the stadium owners to do something, failing that they should have stumped up the money to get decent facilities for the speedway only paying spectators to have decent facilities. Sounds to me like no one cares how spectators feel. The Hyde Road toilets were not brilliant, but that was back in the 60's/70's..... standards today should be much higher.
  6. From the sound of it, those back straight loos at Swindon were disgusting, and the fact management didnt do anything about it over the many years they were in that state shows their lack of regard for the spectators they need to make the speedway pay. Probably factors like poor toilet facilities could be "the straw that broke the camels back" when someone decides to stop going to speedway. What was wrong with making sure the drainage was good, and putting in stainless steel urinals - the long tray things (assuming it didnt have these).
  7. If that is the case then there is no way the message should have been put about that a new stadium would be ready for the start of the 2016 season, in fact no one can positively say it will be ready for June 2016, nor in fact June 2017.
  8. bellevueaces didn't mention success, nor failure, in his post. Rather he mentioned people are now seeing how difficult getting planning regulations can be. The success has come, but due to planners it has been delayed. Perhaps this new post David Cameron has assigned to someone to speed such things up ,probably bigger projects then a new speedway facility, but who knows, it may rub off onto some of the "smaller' projects.
  9. does anyone have plans of the new setup that they can post? long time since I went to Blunsdon so cant picture all thats being said.
  10. Whether its this new Jawa engine or the Gerrard engine (the one Chris Harris using) or any other that comes along, I think its good for speedway. Got to get the costs down, and competition among engine manufacturers will help to do that, and get the youngsters riding bikes that are more easily manageable, let them develop into the faster bikes.
  11. It would be travesty if Hampel is not selected as a wild card, after all he qualified for this years GP series and due to no fault of his own (except for being in the wrong place at the wrong time) he was badly injured, so he should be no1 choice. I have put Lindback in my four but I do worry about him. His last GP year was unspectacular. I know this year he has been going like a steam train at full pelt, but can he be consistent over a GP season? These last few weeks has shown its a bit iffy to expect that from him. Shame really, as he has the years of experience that the younger riders don't have, and whilst the younger ones are developing (and I include Janowski as well as Zmarlick & Pawlicki) the GP circus needs a consistent racer.
  12. but don't forget you get a free program for the Saturday........ no doubt you pay for the Sunday program though. What an insult to all those that paid there way in 2015, many travelling to Poland, to watch a massive flop. I just hope 2015 fans "vote" for this with there feet and stay away, and it would be nice if anyone planning to go in 2016 (but didn't go in 2015) join them by staying away too.
  13. I cannot afford neither Sky Sport nor BT Sport, I am going to campaign my MP for pensioners to have free access - whoops, thats another thread. lol.
  14. Yes, thanks Bruno, and I tape it and watch when the wife not about. lol. But its just the MotoGp race, and I have always followed the Moto2 and Moto3 (and their predecessors) for many years (I remember when Noah raced bikes lol), and I watched the practice/qualifiers too. Actually now I am retired I don't have the time to watch all that lot, so probably better just with the main race. lol.
  15. I think it is rather disgusting of the organisers to expect ANY rider to make their own way to a GP event, and all the more so with it being 1000's of miles away. If BSI or anyone has decided a commercial venture in Aussie is viable then they surely must have looked at potential costs before making that decision, and to me this potential costs must include the cost of getting people in place to make it happen. Like most motorsports, speedway will rely on volunteers to "make the event happen", for example as marshalls, but when the sport is professional, as speedway is, then one expects the actual competitors need some sort of reimbursement for there efforts, and to me it means reimbursing travel expensed. I see whats happening, BSI or whoever, is relying on a competitor thinking of the personal pride, or prestige of riding in a world championship GP, and try, thats how I would feel if chosen - who wouldn't want to race in a world championship series in front of a big crowd especially if it was your "home"country. But when that GP meeting would incur a lot of personal expense, and the organisers are in a business situation, I think it is "tight" of the organisers to be thinking that way. So come on BSI, do the right thing, don't be so tight, get the wallet out and pay the youngster expenses the same as you would/are the others.
  16. I would love to see Jonsson back if he get his good form to begin at the season opener and last to the end of the GP season. Would prefer him to the likes of Kildemand, at least AJ is clean and doesn't "lie down" at a whim and fancy like PK.
  17. If Cardiff was the last GP of the season, and the World Champ had been effectively crowned at the GP before - would I still go?? Of course I would. And I would expect the newly crowned world champ to put on a good display 1) because he wants to assert his authority as world champ 2) because he would be so relaxed that it would probably bring the best out of him.
  18. I think Eurosport had a 3 year contract, which started 2013, so due to expire soon. Its that deal with Eurosport that has brought back my interest to speedway. My concern is if it goes to BT or Sky (Sky Sport) then viewing the GPs will be lot more costly then viewing Eurosport. Yes I know Eurosport is available generally through Sky but Sky is a lot cheaper then having Sky Sport, and with Sky (not Sky Sport) you get other programmes as well, so you not just paying for Sport. BT have already robbed me of watching Moto GP, I don't want Speedway GP to go the same way.
  19. After the Warsaw farce I think more attention/time to prepare was given to the indoor temporary tracks and overall it led to better racing. As long as they continue with that policy the indoor tracks should continue to attract crowds. The GP series, lets not forget is a business, and businesses want turnover to, hopefully, generate profit. Its balance between the organisers looking after the fans, the riders, and the accounts book.
  20. When AJ goes well, he really does go well. Did the same thing towards end of last year, and thats the bit that worries me - 75% of the year not doing so well so we only gain his exciting riding 25% of the year. And according to speedwaygp.com on Friday (I think) he says he will only do another year GP if he is sure he can compete to win. so maybe he would turn a wild card down. Other then I think there is going to be 2 Swedes in it, I would probably go for Vaculik as well, see if he can be consistent this time - thats the hard part.
  21. Top 8 2015 seems pretty much sorted, GP Challenge sorted, just need the wildcards for 2016 I going for Hample, Kildemand, AJ and Lindback (hoping he can keep the form going)
