Not wavin the American flag then, there will be an American rider there nearly as old as your wifes granfather and with a chance of winning the gran prix (sorry Greg) -
Was'nt many years ago that if you stayed loyal to a business ie car insurance, you got rewarded with a discount. Now you dont, in fact they raise the premium highly. Now every year for my car insurance I use one of the search engines to find me the best insurance rate available. Interestingly it has for the last 3 years come up lwest price is my current insurer, LV, and the internet search has been lower then what they write to me with, so I just ring them up, say I want to stay with you but only at the internet price. No problem sir! Pays to shop around these days, something that oldies did'nt do at one time, and I suspect many still don/'t ie gas, electric, telephone charges etc

I see on the news UEFA now have doubts about awarding BT the screening rights for the 3 years of Champions League football as viewing figures show its gone down from 5 million to 1 million. Should have thought about it instead of just grabbing the highest monetary bid, greedy greedy. I wonder if the speedway viewing figures will go the same way. Someone somewhere sometime is going to have to realise that viewers only have so much money to throw at pay tv channels, and perhaps it has reached saturation point when viewers are saying "no more". I see Sky are offering new subscribers to their channels a free LG TV, or vouchers for the likes of M&S (I think) plus other incentives, whilst at the same time putting up the rates for existing viewers. Many existing customers are up in arms about it, One person says he was enticed by a good deal for a 12 month period, but after 3 months he has been notified his service charge is going up - not a happy bunny. I told the wife that we could be cancelling our Sky tv package come the end of October. I have far from the whole monty of packages, no sport package, no film package, just standard package with 2 viewing packs plus it doubled onto the tv in the bedroom, but its still a fair wack, and I am prepared to go back to Freeview for the winter period and decide what I do next April.

You might insist, but you might not get. How many times have you heard of someone buying a new car and it turns out to be a duffer. They might insist the dealer/manufacturer changes the car, but its is not very often someone actually gets a new car, more often then not you will get a rectification. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. How many times have each of us said "if I only knew then what I know no". Belle Vue have obviously got this wrong from the start, wanting to have a high profile meeting very early in the year (end of March is very early), especially with a brand new track just laid over the winter months.. I would loved to have gone but decided not to on too accounts 1) it would be cold and as an "oldie" my blood is getting thinner 2) I still remember back in 1977 when Bristol speedway reopened, there was still a big hole on turn 3-4 when the public were going into the stadium. It was then I said never again to a first meeting, it didn't produce good racing that day, so lesson learned. I am sure when the new stadium opens, it will produce some of the best speedway in the UK, just like Hyde Road used to. And to the poster who has sent his tickets back for a refund, if you just sent them normal post, with no proof of BV receiving them, then you can class yourself as incompetent as you say those at Belle Vue are.

It is reported that Emil is in Spain now for an operation on his injured shoulder. Then he will take a longer break then he or others expected, to fully recover. He wants to be 100% fit when he returns. Looks like any chance of a UK appearance at the World team Cup at Belle Vue is out then. Hope he fully recovers - that smash he had in 2013 was a biggy, I wonder if that is where this damage comes from.

Parking in Cardiff will be difficult on race day. The car parking area directed to in 2014 was the football stadium on the top (motorway side) side of Cardiff. Park car - get a special bus, was £5 each return. I would go by train from Bristol, no doubt busy especially at end of the meeting. Cardiff Central railway station is about 100 metres forom the stadium. Sorry cant advise on lodgings as I dont know the areas you mention very well.

1 Woffinden 2 Pedersen 3 Iversen 4 Zagar 5 Hancock 6Doyle 7Janowski 8 Holder 9 Zmazlik 10Kildemand 11 Jonsson 12 Harris 13 Lindback 14 Hample 15 Pawlicki Nicki's probable last good year Greg on the way down, but still showing the way in many races My tip for 2017 - Dudek to qualify and finish 5th-8h -
Are you really serious in that statement. There were only 2 of the Aussie team in the gp's last year, the best 2 they had (after the sad departure of DW) and he thrashed both of them.

All this talk of 100mbs or even 38mbs broadband making me drool. My broadband runs at 2mbs max, more often then not about 1.2 - 1.5, sometimes lower! -
Belle Vue -v Wolves 25-03-16 Good Fiday
OveFundinFan replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
And there lies problem. All these social media sites in this modern age cause all sorts of problems, truth can easily be distorted and very quickly its spread over a wide area, as far as global. Its not so many years ago that discussions like taking place on forums would not be taking place. If a meeting like last Saturday would have been called off, that news would have taken days possibly over a week to get around, probably by the likes of Speedway Star or other printed news media. At times modern technology has a lot to answer for, but what would we do without it. -

The fact is they should'nt have said it was until BV said it was off. No defence for them at all -

and what does the weather forecast that you looking at say? Just started raining here near Chester, just about 35 miles from BV and the weather forecast just given in ITV is heavier rain coming later. -

Not worth BV issuing a statement, many have already made minds up, a statement will just add pages and page of forum comments. -
What photos have you seen???

So, will there be any racing at Poole speedway until that hole has been rectified for good. Or will there be different standards accepted by riders, fans, promotors, track curators. Its going to be an interesting season for UK speedway.

It has been stated the track laying was the responsibility of contractors. Where has it been said the the contractors had no knowledge or experience of laying speedway tracks???. I am in the dark as much as everyone else appears to be, but my mind tells me if I was the contractor with the responsibility to lay the track I would look at the resources I had. If none of those had track laying experience to a high level what would I do - employ some person(s) that had. Too many assumptions going round here from too many people who are not in possession of all the facts of what really was going on through the contract leading up to Saturday night. And if you think BV on Saturday night was a big mess, look at whats happened in Belgium this morning. Last week in Brussels the leader of the attack on Paris last year was arrested. It seems obvious that at least Belgium would put themselves on high alert, expecting some comeback for arresting that guy. But news reports, if true, say Belgium have only now put themselves on high alert. Much more serious then postponement of a speedway meeting.

Only connection that comes to my mind is when the funfair was open at Belle Vue Hyde Road track, after the speedway meeting go into the funfair free and there was a wall of death show. Guy Martin, motor cycle road racer, has a TV series at the moment and I saw only last week a trailer of his programs and wall of death ride was one of them. It was a hugh wall he was going to ride, much bigger in diameter then I remember BVs to be. edited - I just googled wall of death and Guy Martin show with the largest wall of death ever seen is live on easter monday March 28th 7:15pm on Channel4 The "wall" will be 120' in diameter - Guy Martin is going for a world record.

If the track needs drying out- how are they going to do that? This may be completely stupid idea because I don't know how the machine works, but you know when they strip the top surface tarmac off a road they have a device that seems to melt the road surface. Must be some heat generated, maybe too much I don't know, but if too muich may be a way to reduce the heat. Just a suggestion, may be crazy, I don't know..

Bring Back Reading Racers Speedway
OveFundinFan replied to johnonthe4thbend's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Signed the petition, I am not on any social media sites so cannot distribute, and in any case, my circle of friends these days are non speedway supporters. Hope it goes well for Reading speedway.
