Rob Lambert Our Next British Hope?
SCB replied to sommelier's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
No it can't. It really cannot not. Even if you imagined it. Rune Holta was born in Norway and had a Norweigan passport and a Norweigan license. He then moved to Poland, eventually after living their long enough he was able to take out Polish citizenship which entitled him to a Polish passport only then could he ride for Poland in the SWC. He did NOT flit back to Norway ever, once he was Polish thats what he was and now is. His license makes sod all difference. He could take out a German, Latvian, American or Argentinian license and he'd still be Polish and the only country he can ride for in the SWC is Poland. You ride in the GPs for the country that provides you with your license though. So you could have a German license but a British passport, so you'd ride for GB in the SWC. I'm not sure why it matters what license someone has though as even if a Brit had a German license and won a GP they'd still play the British National anthem as the rider would be British. Who is this rider that switched between Latvian and Russian? Greg Laguta, both in Russis and married to a Latvia woman and living in Latvia tried to get Latvia citizenship but failed the tests. As a result of that he couldn't get a passport so the only country he can ride for in the SWC is Russia, he cannot chose to ride for Latvia, even if he has a Latvia license (which he may, or may not have, I have no idea and I doubt anyone knows what license most riders have as they have no relevance to anything) Rory Schlein rode in the 2014 SEC qualifiers as the ACU (GB) representative but he's still an Australian and cannot ride for GB in the SWC, only Australia - unless he applies for British citizenship and a passport. Changing your Nationality is NOT a speedway thing either. It's up to the country who they allow citizenship to. I'm guessing the Germans are quite picky. -

Last years attempt to refer to all riders by a number failed so why not sponsors?! -

Ask Wolves fans about Sowka - failed to average 2 yet Polish form suggested they had a star in the making. On the other hand, go back and bit further and ask Wolves fans about Skornicki and he wasn't anything special in Poland but he's generally been pretty good in the UK. Then there THJ and Peter Ljung, both capable riders who do well in Sweden and Poland but never done it in the UK. -

Same league. They all rode 2nd division last year. Averages here -
Surely in an amateur/training league the main focus should be on improving the riders, giving them track time and building up their machinery? Not buying them unnecessary race suits? I know when it was suggested the Storm have race suits some fans were happy to donate but other said they'd prefer to donate towards better bikes rather than looking good but having no kit. Now if a club can afford both, then great, do it. But I'm not sure an amateur league should be throwing money at things to look good. Fur coats and knickers etc.

This must be horrible for anyone but for someone like Ivan who was always so logical and methodical in his approach to everything and always come across as artiulate and well spoke, so suddenly not be able to these things must be so frustrating. Just makes you realise, you can be fit and healthy, keep active etc and still, these horrible illnesses can get hold of you.

TBF, until it went ** up with Bridger Coventry had 6 Brits - when was the last time an EL club could claim that? They have 5 now, again, when was the last time anyone could claim that? -
The price is far from the biggest issues with the burgers - I bought one once, I had to throw it away after eating half of it as it was like eating mulched sawdust. At 1p they'd be too expensive. Mind you, they're only marginally better at Brandon! Nothing beats Somersets food IMO - tastes good and is a fair price. And it's no sunrise there's always a queue of people buying it!

Unwritten rule 765.32.12. "Jason Doyle can sign for a PL team of a 3 point average" - forgot about that one

Thank you. Thats why I was confused. People seemed to be suggesting there was no contact. Also, I'd argue anyone collision that causes someone to fall of a bike is "violent" -
Doyles last PL average was 9.79 and Norths was 6.55 And what have EL averages got to do with it. This new, so new it's newer than the rulebook, rule says that last season EL average is irrelevant.

It odd how Plymouth seem to be being written off IMO. Fisher, fully fit and on it is a good number 1 and can put a point an a half on his average, Newmans second half of the season form makes him as good as most clubs second heat leaders so if Jack Holder is half as good as he seems to be rated and can get 7 then thats a decent enough heat leader trio. And I've not mentioned Risager yet, who, despite people saying Plymouth has no real home track advantage, signing a rider like Risager who scores points there for fun around there should help with a home track advantage (home traxck advantage is what you make it, sing 7 riders who love the track and you'll have an advantage, sign 7 riders who hate it and you'll have a disadvantage). And that leads onto Simota - a good rider at the SBA if a bit dodgy away but, that should help rack up home wins along with Morten. I'm not Ashley Morris biggest fan but he's a steady plodding 4.5 rider who seems to put half a point on his average this year so if he can get 5 he'll be an ok reserve. As for Sam Chapman, I know nothing about him TBH, if I've ever seen him ride and I don't remember, the number don't look good for him though BUT he's a 3 pointer, if he fails, there probably another 20-odd of them in the NL to pick one up if they have to. I'll go with solid at home and capable of keeping teams on their toes away. Not a bad team really and probably sensibly priced too.

Surely if there is no contact then Olly did nothing wrong? I'm still confused. What did Olly do to warrant an exclusion if he didn't crash into Wright? -

Hwo did he manage that without crashing then? Run up behind him an shout "booo"? Genuine question BTW. -
So Jason Doyle can sign for a PL team? And Dak North on a 6 point average. Also, Kennett has a 6.5 EL average so doesn't fit at Lakeside.

TBF this afternoon he had a crash battling for the lead and an EF, he could have potentially had another 4 or 5 points. -
That rule used to exist but it was changed in the winter - it's even highlighted in the rule book as a new rule!
-
adz_mft is right. Too average 12 he'd have to have never dropped a point. You and the person claiming he averaged 12 are looking mugs.

Najjer, I think Olly Allen forgot he'd changed teams! Bet he doesn't only score 4 again all season. You probably met them at the right time -

A victory for fairness and legal teams. Hurrah!! -
So what actually happened in heat 2? And did she make the right call in the end or not?

Always said he was a class act. One of a rare breed too - a good looking speedway rider.
