Rob Lambert Our Next British Hope?
SCB replied to sommelier's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
David Kujawa - 2001 World Under 21 Champion. Never did another thing. Rene Aas beat Tony Rickardson to 2nd in a World Under 21 Championship in about 1989, look at how their careers went. Just how good a rider is going to be cannot always be told from under 21 level. -

Tommy Knudsen averaged 6.41 at 18. Hans Neilsen averaged 7.25 at 17 Morten Risager averaged 6.10 at 16 Who do we all think at 16-18, looking at them numbers would have been more highly rated? I don't think it took any sort of leap of faith to assume a 16 year old averaging 6.1 could be looking at 7.25 at 17. Making Risager and Neilsen of a similar level at 16. With 2 extra seasons Knudsen only found a third of a point extra. -
So what was the plan for Smallmead? Why has nothing happened there?

Rob Lambert Our Next British Hope?

Weird thing is I remember his debut and him scoring 0000 at Ipswich and all the Bees fans asking, "wheres this wonder kid". Then he scored 3 and 4 in his first 2 home meetings and we were all scratching our heads. Then bang, his 3rd home meeting he score a load of point against Oxford then a few weeks later did the same vs Poole. He spent the whole season in the 1-5 as I pointed out at the start of the thread. Hey, it's ok, I remember all this stuff. Sidney barely knows who he is. I think we should bow to his ignorance and ignore my knowledge Risager at 16 average over 6 in the EL didn't happen, he wasn't highly rated -

See, call yourself a fan. Risager was highly rated. Anyone who knows anything about the sport remember him being highly rated. He was raved about as some wonder kid who was riding on the continent at 15 and beating all sorts of riders. Anyone trying to have this discussion and unable to remember that, frankly, are not worth discussing it with. -

Im guessing he was riding in Denmark. But Robert has raced in Germany for 2 seasons. I see Sidneys at it again too. Uses averages yet when you use them decided they don't matter. It's all about opinion. At 16 I and many others rated Risager highly. He was beating better riders than Lambert was last year. None of this means I don't rate Lambert but let's not gloss over how good Risager was at 16, or even David Howe! -

Risager averaged 5.81 in the EL riding as a second string all year. Robert Lambert got 6.04. So about 0.20 of a point between them. But Lambert had 4 rides a meeting against NL riders. Risager was competing against Olly Allen, Davey Watt, Ricky Ashworth, Dan Davidsson, Lyons, Walasek, Zorro, Kelv, Andy Smith. He had no easy rides, where as Lambert was basically offered 4 points by beating NL riders. Risager is a brilliant example of a rider who was raved about at 15 and 16 but by 21 had failed and been moved around half the EL (I think he's had spells at Coventry, Eastbourne, BV, Ipswich and Peterborough by then before going on to also ride for Swindon and Lynn in the EL) -

There you go, something happened in the 70s and 80s and it should happen now too. Jimmy Saville felt up lots of kids back then too, should we bring that back too? -

Morten Risager was better at 16 IMO. Look at him now! Not even as good as he was at 16 -
5.27 with bonus points or 4.77 without.
-
While slightly worrying, it is the style I was going for. I forgot to #DarcyIsAJoke at the end though, so even I know I can do better next time.
-
I'm going to wait until next week but right now I'm thinking Leicester are the best value but I can't really see past Poole.
-
So 16/1 would be the odds you take then, as you'd win more money!
-
Swap Lakeside and Leicester, make Wolves about 50/1 and the bookies are pretty spot on IMO.

Speedway And The Recession?
SCB replied to The White Knight's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Technically we haven't been in recession for about 5 years! -
Where is this bloody statement?!
-
So the Swedes are agreeing and removing points. While on the UK, the SCB are ignoring it. Ho hum, just more proof the BSPA/SCB do as they like. As they say, "if your face fits..."
-
So he once scored a 15 point maximum but still couldvt average more than 6.08? Take away that maximum and that season he averaged 4.48. It's looks to me like he was a 4.5 rider who from time to time threw in a great meeting. 4.5 men are generally reserves.

I thought that last year. Stuck a couple hundred £££ on them only to find out both had pulled out. D'oh!
-
Assuming Poole sign Magic and Gomolski then I'll go with Kings Lynn Belle Vue Poole Leicester Swindon Coventry Lakeside Wolves And Coventry fans are going to get excited as we'll do well initially as we're going to beat Wolves home and away which will mean any changes to improve the team won't happen as we'll look better than we are.

Speedway And The Recession?

Promoters will just make the annual price increase £2 rather than £1. Problem solved - until June anyway, by which time the fans will release they're being mugged off again. £17 to watch EL speedway? They're having a laugh. Doesn't cost must more than that for a GP in the Millenium Stadium. -
coventry didn't cheat fielding Kennett at Lakeside nor did Nick Morris when he rode Kennetts bike but all the points were removed from Coventrys points total. So what you're saying is coventry shouldn't have had the 3 league points removed and 3 league points given to Lakeside and that means Coventry should have been in the 2011 play-offs?
